A neighbor of mine has a small horse farm. About 180 acres, 16 of which closely maintained. He makes good use of an M5700 cab model with FEL for bush hogging, fence post installation, hay bale moving, clearing, grading, snow plowing, and other general use. He, of course, has a separate machine for lawn mowing. For $20K you are going to have budget issues. You could probably get by with a large L-series model at the expense of productivity. If you think you could get by without 4WD, a basic M-series machine might come back into the picture.

The bamboo variety we had in our last house grew incredibly slow and was not at all prolific. So Dennis advice is good, you need to research the varieties and select the one that has the characteristics you desire.

I agree with kubotaguy. This is a great tractor, love it. The only thing I am trying to do is get the throttle loosened up. It has been more than I even expected, and would not trade it for any other tractor, and I did a lot of shopping around before I bought this. I know there is a simple answer out there for the sticky throttle problem.

You have a different problem then what the adjustment you have made will deal with. Talk to your dealer as you have a problem with the valve or cylinder leaking by.

It's seen quite often even from switching tire makes and staying with the same size tire! We have had to cure it in both compacts as well as the Ag tractors. Fortunately for compact tractor owners when we first saw it on them we knew what was happening.

I replaced the turfs on my BX with bar tires (smaller application, I know). The bar tires on the BX series look more like industrials than ags due to the width vs. height ratio and the interlocking center bars (IMHO). I agree with a previous statement that they perform well as long as it isn't too wet. I'll second the notion that turfs will tear up a wet lawn nearly as easily as bar tires if they are allowed to slip. Bars are far superior when things get sloppy though, as long as you're not concerned about ripping the heck outta the ground.

I'm in texas close to deen eqp.
they aren't in the shipping business & have no control over
what trucks charge to haul a load.
they do make some of the best deals in the state & it appears country, on kubotas.
they are very nice, family owned & I picked up an L3010
for a steal. they are great people.
at least try to make your dealers match their prices.
it's worth the drive or shipping if they won't !

Blower on the back, bucket on the front. Unstoppable on my 700' gravel drive that looks like the trek from Namche Bazaar to Everest Base Camp. No worries about pushing the banks back if we get a big winter.

My dealer is offering an ATI heavy duty loader bucket instead of the Kubota heavy duty round back. It will go on a L3130 and I'm wondering what the pros and cons are to this bucket vs. the one made by Kubota. Also wondering if it comparable in price or is there a big difference for the dealer? It's all part of a package so I'm not sure what to think.

Well guys, here's the results of the official Kubota installation procedure, with a few pictures.

I'll be darned if it didn't work slicker than grease!!(with one minor modification)

I am going to have to eat a bit of crow because of some of the bad things I've said about this installation now that I have the process down.

I hope this helps someone else!!

thanx for the info guys. I knew i'd learn something. Good points on the tire rating and where to load the pallet on the trailer. One thought that occurred to me is to throw some of the sod in the back of the pickup to help reduce the weight on the trailer. We just got a bunch of rain & supposed to get more so i'll wait for a bit before i get the sod. Again, thanx for the help.

I don't want to start the ROPS debate again, but here is how I put work lights on my BX2230. YOu could point one forward and one back.

There was a hot lead under the seat (2 actually) and I used this to power the relay and tail light lead to switch it.

Your service manager is wrong. you have to split the tractr to remove the pto shaft from a tc29 or and tc for that matter. Is it still under warrenty? When did you buy it? Did you buy it new?
