I was thinking of it as 'mental air conditioning', and no I don't mean the breeze that blows in one ear and out the other as my wife asserts there is.

Pete, while there is some concern about the lateral or torsional forces on the FEL arms, the front of the machine is light enough that the front tires lose traction and skid sideways long before that much force accumulates.

In 20+ years of doing it we have never had any problems yet.

BTW, summer has arrived in Toronto too, it is 90 deg. F. and high humidity here, 101 deg. F. with the 'humidex', still no match for the A/C on the Kubota, I cut 15 acres of hay this morning in cool comfort.

My mid-mount mower deck will not stay in the up position. When I position the control up it immediately starts to move down. I adjusted the back nuts, but it continues to move down.

Like yooperpete, I have a few six gallon yellow diesel cans. All the fuel gets poured through a water filtering funnel (see link) that I set in the filler nozzle. The funnel gives a much larger target to pour into, minimizing spilled fuel. Full cans are heavy so I use a Han-D-Pump that screws into the can to empty out the first few gallons before lifting and pouring the rest.

Looks like JD released the info on the new 20 series tractors. These all have John Deere turbo diesel engines, and the smallest 4120 is 43 hp ramping up to the 4720 with 58 hp! I'll be most envious of the first one here that buys one. I thought the 20 series would be replacing the 10 series, but it looks like they will be sold side by side to fill out the top end of the CUT line.

thanks dk35 vince, have 40 hours on my lk3054xs and love it. moving alot of dirt to build a shop and so far so good. wish I would have bought a box blade rather than a rear scraping blade though. Hit some rocks and had to beef up my blade attachment. afaid to beef it up to much thinking I rather have it go rather than having something crack on the tractor. thanks again.

I thought I read somewhere that a pallet of sod weighs about 4,000 lbs. But then again my CRS could be playing tricks on me. That might be a tad much for that trailer to handle in that case.

Hopefully the product data sheets I requested will have more detailed info. I will post them, when I get them. I also made a suggestion to Kubota to post this info. on their website. Not that my 1.5 cents worth of suggestion will register with them but you never know.

Stonegate, if you go with the Kubota, I would suggest the L3830 or larger. Better hp mix and for the uses you mention; a bit larger tractor might serve you better. I use my 4410 for pretty much the same tasks you do and have found that a bigger heavier tractor pull logs better. This does not mean the 4410 is not up to the task, it just needs a lot more weight. A 4610 might be something to consider. If size is the critical consideration as you discuss; just be sure you get enough ballast weight to get the tractor to pull well.

I'm not sure what a "ratwall" is. Never heard the term, so I guess the answer is 'no'. They used the bottom rail that the siding attaches to as the outside forms.

I have a 790 and use an MX-5 with no problems. Just be sure you have enough from end weight. As I recall, the MX-5 lists for around $1800 - $2000, so you're talking a significant cost increase unless you can find a used one. I bought mine used (less than one year) for the same cost as a new LX-5.

There are Kubota dealers in Rose City and Hillman. Check out Ginops website, they generally list what used equipment they have at their dealers, and can give you a quote on a new machine. They have dealerships in Hillman and Alanson. I think in Michigan you can do a little better than the 10K you were quoted.

Check out http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=futian+new+holland+trade+dress. Should fill you right in. That lawsuit left a lot of "in-country" Futians sort of high and dry. If you get a post-lawsuit Foton (they changed their name for subsequent American sales), it stands to reason that the parts support can only be better than that for a pre-lawsuit tractor.
