I was chipping some damp material and the tractor started lugging so I shut it off to clean out the blower chute. This got me to thinking about protective devices for the pto driveline. My rotary cutter has a slip clutch, but it appears there is no safety device on the chipper. If it had a shear bolt where would it be? Could a cheap shear bolt be added easily? Are they available off the shelf? I know a slip clutch would be around $100 but for this application a shear bolt should work fine and be cheaper. The chinglish chipper manual leaves lots to be desired.

Allot of times the paint isn't a perfect match, particularly if the tractor has slightly faded from sunlight. The loader has a rougher surface that hides the slight mismatch. There is never a perfect touch-up unless you paint the entire section. Doing the best you can is about it!

Ya, they have a bonded answering service just to take orders 24/7. The answering service doesn't always reflect as being the brightest star. Specific messages like "wanting a call back" aren't always noted and passed on.

That is NOT a very good price on a BX23....... unless the price includes some of the attachments you outlined.

Sounds like standard HST "feedback" to me.

The engine/tranny is telling you where it's maximum power and speed are in relation to its weight and load.

To put it in perspective, the base weight on your 3010 is 1000 pounds heavier than a B2910 with the same engine and is geared "taller" in high range to boot.

I am surprised it runs as fast as it does.

Kubota's Z models have front jacks built into them for fast service when needed. They also do to there advanced drive train use hydraulic PTO clutches like used on bigger farm tractors unlike the Lawn tractor electric PTO clutches used on other brands.

Murf,

The dealer made a visit...as it turns out the factory put the telescopic arms on backwords this is why the stabalizing bar bent. I must now must wait till next wednesday till I can plow because the dealer does not have the part and had to order it....guess this was missed during the "inspection." Sure hope I did not get a lemon or "orange" in this case.

In my opinion, one of the best front mowers in the industry is the John Deere F687. Have you looked at one of those. They are in the upper $7,000 price range though. VERY nice machines.

I have said that I have had four of them that were junk, four of them in a row. I am sure that if enough of these tractors are made, that there would be some good ones. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while. What makes the Lenar to be a bad purchase is LACK OF SUPPORT. At least in my area, there is no support. The other thing that makes them a bad purchase is that Lenar Dealers are under no contract or obligation to service any other Lenar tractor. That means you are playing russian roulette when you buy, because nobody can say that they will sell Lenars for the rest of their life. With no support, the tractor is a bad buy.
To answer your question about the oil, it is engine oil and it seems to be comming mainly from the oil filter assembly. NOT the oil filter but the oil filter mounting assembly that bolts to the block. That is the worse case. The whole block though seems to be sweating engine oil, from the variuos seales and gaskets. The oil presure guage reads on the low side at idle and then damn near in the red at operating speeds.
The other question, was about the transmission, what would cause it to just lock up on occasion. It is like I am in two gears at the same time and the tractor will just stall. Anybody had this problem???

If it was only so easy, I have not seen any such book myself, if I did I'd buy a several since I regularly have to 'break-in' a new employee.

Best solution I have found is to start them on simple easy tasks at first and work them up to progressively harder tasks as their skill level and experience grows.

I would suggest the same to you. If there is someone in the family with experience on tractors I would suggest you pick their brain for helpful tips and tricks.

Other than that there's always Tractor Point dot Com, a wealth of knowledge at your finger-tips.

If you are picking up thick heavy seaweed and little else the easiest, cheapest solution might be to get (or make) a wide stone fork bucket for the FEL and just drive along scooping up the stuff.

The stone fork will also do some limited grooming if that is desired.

Several resorts we have worked on have used this method and been very happy with the results.

The one trick we have discovered with working in sand is to keep an eye on the speed, depending on the moisture of the sand it will start to be flung up onto the axles, etc., at a certain speed. If you can prevent the sand from getting to the seals it will go along way to saving them. We also cary a cheap hand pump sprayer full of clean fresh water of the type you would spot spray weeds with on each tractor. when some sand gets somewhere it shouldn't be a little spray rinses it right off.

I believe they are the ag tires. They have the aggressive bar tread design, not the wide bar tread that seems to be a more recent design, nor the wide flat lawn tires.

I have a B7200HST to sell and need to know fair value. It has 850 hrs on meter (but it may be 1850), runs great, 4wd, 60" mid-mount mower, turf tires. The seat is cracked, but otherwise looks fine. Any ideas on fair value? Thanks in advance.<br>

A lot of people start on the kubota board and move on depending on the advice they choose to take after all, Kubota is the most respected name in this field. The disadvantatages of extending the wheels out to the maximum is the added axle and wheel stress by being offset as much as that allows you to go. It would mostly affect you if you have heavy three point hitch equipment that you regularly operate. Otherwise it will mean you might need to go to wider equipment to cover the wheel tracks while mowing or for what ever tasks you might need to do.

For the larger tractors 240hp many parts are made in the good ole usa, (but many esp. electronic parts are not) We do make some great gears also, england cant match our consistancy yet even though we gave them all our tech. Right now I am happy with the mix of forign and home made parts as long as it dont decrease anymore than it has.
