Darnit Steve! I looked for just such a tractor for the last two years and couldn't find one. So I gave up and finally settled for another tractor in August....and now you show up with what sounds like a clean one at a pretty good price, too! Sure wish you had decided to sell it a couple of months ago. The 1050 is one of my favorites, and I think it will become a classic. Simple and rugged. ............ Roger Loving

This is simple, I do not know if you have a brother, sister, mother or whetever... Buy the tractor for yourself, and for your application. Do not buy it for others. 3 acres = compact. I have the Kubota B7300, with 2.6 acres. On the occation that I think that I wish I had bought larger, my B7300 (with a little inginuity) amazes me and gets the job done. Power steering would be nice, but not worth the big dollars (unless your independantly wealthy). I bought my tractor with loader and backhoe, more will come. My B7300 has in the recent past out-performed a JD855 simalarly equipped in both digging and moving. Buy from a reputable dealer, and you cannot go wrong with Kubota. A B7300 or equivelent should be all you need. Good luck, and happy tractoring. P.S. I am proud of the dealer I dealt with, e-mail me for more info...

I use Shell Rotella 15w40 in my diesel truck and my B2400. Buy it by the case at Wal-Mart. I save the Mobil 1 for the gas engines.

hat to say it guys but i think i got you all beat. i baught a 1989 750w 900hr loader backhoe new agy tires worn terfs, 6ft finish mower 4ft. bush hog, 6ft. box 6ft. ter blade. land plow . power steering good shape needed some paint but all worked perfectly. i paid 12000.00 i think it was a steel. beleave it or not it was from a dealer. go figure. ha any one have a cab for this thing. also im looking for a over size tire for it some thing bigger than stock. even some big terfs or ind tires.

Scott,<br>I checked my 4100 w/410 loader and the hydraulic hose lines do not touch the right front tire in a hard turn. This was on level ground so maybe I will have troubles in the future. Have you tried increasing the loop size off the back of the loader arm. That would take up some slack in the hoses. Just a thought. I did use a larger cable tie on the loader arm because the one supplied by JD kept breaking. I encountered a different problem with the 4100. After I installed the loader I noticed that the park brake was set automatically when I lifted the 3 pt. hitch arms. It turned out that a cross arm bolt was too long and hit the brake linkage. After some adjustments the problem is gone. There isn't much realestate left on the underside of the 4100 after the loader is installed.

A friend of mine is looking at purchasing a JD 4200 w/mfwd, hydro, and loader. I have read a few posts on this forum that indicates that the 4200 is underpowered for its weight. What do you 4200 owners think? Thanks.

David,<br>Again, only my observations, I have only RARELY seen a manu'f company like JD,NH or any other company offer a rate even comparable to a home equity. That is of course the company is doing a marketing strategy which includes things like 0% interest for 1 year or so. Either way, I think you'll be hard pressed to beat a H.E. Loan. Short of refinancing your house mortgage to include the tractor. Just my 2 cents:)

Pulling foward works as long as the snow isn't too deep. In deeper snow you need to push backward so you can get better traction and the snow doesn't pile up under the tractor. How deep depends on the size of the tractor. When pushing backward it helps to use the back side of the blade, so it doesn't tend to dig in. Skids or wheels also help. Small tractors are limited in how much you can side cast by angling the blade because the snow will push the tractor sideways. In a heavy snow I will typically open things up by pushing the snow back to the sides, then clean up pulling foward and side casting.<br>BTW when pulling foward, the lower arms are in tension, but the top link is in compression. Pushing backward the lower arms are in compression and the top link is in tension.

I have a small Kubota B7300 and added a hyd. top link and also a hyd. side link to it The idea is about a thousand yr. old. With the hyd. top link you have instant pitch adjustment wich makes the rear blade an amazing peice of equipment. With the cyl. retracted the blade will float very easy like for spreading mulch and the like. With the cyl. extended a certain degree the bit of the blade increases dramatically for digging in hard pan. Also when pilling dirt into a tall pile you can pull the rear imp. up to clear climbing.<br>I have also added a cyl. in the place of the adjustable side link for blade tilt for cleaning out ditches and such. I put a two spool valve on the rops bolts next to my right arm. the valve for the side link has the float option wich works perfect for spreading gravel on my lane. I plumbed the valve bank into the line that goes from the front loader to the 3 pt. sys. I have done a lot of other mods. to the little critter that makes it real handy. Any ques. pse e mail.

Joe,<br>I had a 1530 Boomer with supersteer and a NH 1708 loader. Pretty easy on and off but had problems with the quick connects leaking all the time. (had to put a pan underneath the connections when it was parked inside) Also the standard duty bucket was pretty wimpy (my current JD 4300 has a heavy duty version) Something that was mentioned in another posting was that the loader rattled and appeared very loose/sloppy when it was properly attached according to the manual. When higher road speeds were used, it was almost unsettling to hear the banging from the attaching points and made me wonder if it was properly adjusted or assembled (both were checked). The biggest feat to overcome when driving a supersteer equipped tractor is when you turn the steering wheel one way, the supersteer mechanism will push the bucket the opposite way a few inches, which can make close quarter movements (i.e. next to a vehicle/house/tree or whatever) a little tricky. This is just the nature of the beast and can really only be observed with the loader on. (harder to see the shifting action going on without the loader attached). I also felt the 800# rating for the lift capacity was a little off. (600-700# loads made the loader grunt a little) This tractor was built heavy enough to handle a 1100# load, in my honest opinion. You could actually see the rear uprights bending inward when the loader bucket was full and travelling across uneven ground. New Holland also needs to get a different pressure relief valve spring to allow a little more pressure to get to the loader so it actually sounds like it is loading the engine a little before the hydraulics stall out and you end up backing out of the load to lift it off the ground. This of course was on my '98 model 1530, which may have been cured in newer models. Hope this helps!!

<br>I have a B7300 that I bought new sept. of 98. I am gettiing along very well with my little unit as long as you realize it's size and potential. I used to be a logger and used equipment in a lot of extreme situations and the 7300 is just a super small version of the same thing. I have used it for skidding logs for firewood and land clearing on my little 3 acre patch with absolutely no problems with it. It was not feasible to get a larger one when after I got the place cleaned up it still is the exact size that I need for the farming and mowing and such. I did builb a small 6 shank ripper for it wich made it an awsome little weapon for its size. I also am a tinkerer of sorts and put a power stearing unit on it from a 1980 Ford Granada (actualy a power assist unit). Works absolutely perfect. Drives like a Lincoln (almost) If you have any Questions about B7300 Power stearing or any of the other mods I have made to the little critter e-mail me. Next project B7300 Turbo ??<br>

Hey Brian, Sounds like a pretty reasonable price if it's in good condition. Friend of mine just sold a comparable unit for 13,500.00 ! It sold the first day the ad appeared in the paper and he was swamped with calls afterwards. Good Luck

I would bet that the bucket loader arms have been broken several times around the torque tube. Maybe someone at ford will read this and decide that after 20 years of Junk loaders it is time for a redesign.
