It doesn't sound too bad, I would think if you are buying that many implements, the dealer could do a little better.
My dealer filled my tires with antifreeze for free. I would suggest filling those tires especially if you plan on doing a lot of loader work. I mow with mine and as long as your ground isn't marshy it will be fine. I notice if I try to mow after a good downpour the tires will compact the lawn a little.

I don't know about the expert part. ;o) I do as you mention with the 1,000 rpm cool down and warm up only I may set the rpm aroudn 1,100 to 1,200 rpm. Not good to let them idle for prolonged periods. This pretty much follows what is recommended in my owner's manual. Best bet would be to check your manual and follow what is recommended. The cool down period is critically important with turbo charged diesels even more so but a good practice with the naturally aspirated variety.

It is taking me a long time to buy that first tractor as each decision seems to create another. As I ponder what to purchase (either a 7800 or 7510) it has become clear that a number of people are not using their tractor to mow. Instead, people are buying equipment specifically to mow with. After thinking about my needs, this is the route that I am planning on taking. Also, it seems like for the price of a 3PH or MMM deck I can by a pretty nice piece of equipment.<br>

I just advertised my John Deere LT155 with 38" deck for sale. Now, I am deciding what to buy for a mower. I have looked at new husqvarna 32" ($2000) and 48" ($2700) walk behinds and recenty left a message for someone selling a 2002 Snaper Pro Express, 35" deck, for $950. I don't mind the walking (it's the only exercise I get!) but also like the thought of being able to add a sulky if I feel like riding. <br>

My question is what kinds of mowers are people happy with? Any thoughts of brands to stay away from, or brands and models people like will be greatly appreciated!

What is a good price on a 1997 Kubota B1550 20 hp with rototiller and a 4' bucket and 1200 hours. The unit has new ag tires, R-1. The unit was 1st used on a golf course. The 2nd owner used it for a landscaping project. The unit is reported to have no hydraulic or oil leaks. It starts right up and burns no oil.

I have a question regarding the proper shutdown of the CK-20HST. After say an hour of working the tractor, what is the suggested shutdown of the engine. Idle for five minutes at around 1000 rpms, shut it right off after bringing to an idle, or another method? I've heard some say it is okay to turn it right off and others say to let it idle around 1000 rpms for about five minutes before turning off the key. Or does it even matter?<br>

I bought a Toro 4 cycle For $158.00 and returned it before use. My old Homelite trimmer is 14 years old and still running. In my area we have these one day truck load sales put on by Cummins. (ie cumminstools.com) I can pick up a Homelite reconditioned 2 stroke for $49.99. I bought a bunch of them for the different places. Can beat it for the price.

I also use the red .105 line on the old Homelite. It is quite harsh on tree trunks unless you idle around them.

Stihl products. I use an electric Stihl wacker at my condo and love it. I also have Stihl electric and 2 stroke gas blowers. I highly recommend any Stihl product. They are slightly higher priced but consider them premier.

You can get an auger that is called a "rock crusher", it will bore anything short of solid rock. Ive been useing a 14" one in my creek bottom while building a retaining wall.They are a little pricey though, a 14" one was $300

Just kidding, but I have to ask one other question Chief "Did you get any hats or promo items when you bought your land?"
On a serious note, I have one of the cheap rotary cutters that CT Farm and Country used to sell (can't remember the name) but I have abused that thing to death clearing off a 3 acre lot and a 6.5 acre lot and the only thing I have had to do is replace sheer pins and sharpen the blades. WV limestone can be quite rough on mowers and cutters but I've had this one for over 10 years and it's still going strong.

Alfster, if the dealer gave you a high trade-in price value, then he is going to high ball you on the new machine price. Best bet is for you to sell your 425 out right yourself and make you best deal straight up with the dealer.

I am not an experienced horse person but it sure would seem to be more cost effective and cheaper to go with a good pressure treated lumber coated with some type of skid resistant paint or coating if the chemicals in the boards are an issue for the horses. The pressure treated lumber will last so much longer.

Any injector/pump service shop will be able to do this for you.

It's not the sort of thing for the average person to experiment with.

Turning up the amount of fuel is just one part of making extra horsepower, you also need to get more air into, and back out of the engine too.

GLalonde, no I never lived in that area, but I do work all over the place and have done many jobs in the Ottawa area.

When you're working away from home and your own repair shop you quickly learn where to go for parts and people who know what they are talking about.

A word of caution if you have never been to a Princess Auto store, they have lots of neat stuff and it VERY easy to come out of the store with a LOT MORE than you went in to get.

If possible take the peice you need to connect to a small sketch of how it fits, they will make up exactly what you need for you no charge, you just pay for the parts.

Right you are. Maintenance is the key. Keep changing that filter and hydro fluid per the manual. If you could see the inside of my old housing you would realize just how important that is. Oh and don;t forget to clean the screen when you drain the fluid. BTW, the hydro was $800 but the labor was another $600.

Hello, well as you may already know, I did not go to Indiana this weekend, my wife had a better way of making me feel better, but it does not mean that I am going to let this go. I have contacted several people in Michigan to state my complaint, red tape is a mess, and of course, Lenar knows this, the consumer really is hindered by the legal stuff, but I do know, that speaking the truth is not a crime, I guess you could say having four tractors that were defective is bad, but to actually be able to see it, well, then that would be like the dress of Monica. <br>
To park it in front of a dealership after it has refused to work on a tractor that they sell, but did not sell that particular tractor, well that is bad business. But obviously, if they wanted business, then they would have agreed to work on it. Everyone says find a shadetree mechanic or one that wants business on the side, well, if the Dealers of Lenar wont work on it, then people need to know that these tractors are so bad that their own dealers dont want to work on them, and that means that there must be something more to these tractors than what is being said by the Lenar company. All I can see that Lenar is saying is that we have a tractor to sell you and that your dealer is totally comitted to any repairs or warranty work until you die. Even if he goes bankrupt, or commits suicide for picking Lenar tractors to sell, he is to repair it. If not him, then his surviving relatives or friends. If not them, then I dont know who, just dont call us at Lenar and tell us your problems, besides, you were the goof that bought the tractor, so it is your problem, not ours, we have enough of our own problems to sell without having to work on yours.<br>
What is my goal? To let everyone know the trouble I have had with this tractor and this company. To let them know that the true value of a tractor is not in the sale price but the support after the sale. All tractors break, new or used, they break, the value comes from how easy it is to get the problem fixed. <br>
Several people has asked what about my dealer, Well, like I said, I had my wires crossed when I said he was selling Kamas the truth is that he went under and in a big big way. When a man loses all due to an adventure in selling junk Lenar tractors, what more can he do?????
