Oops, my error. $3500 is for the 3 pt attachment, $4350
is for the self-propelled. Just sold my CADDigger on Ebay for $3051. It is a self-propelled 900 lb machine. No hydraulic outriggers, only 120-degree swing. My commercial backhoe attachment is built better and only cost a little more.

Patrick, I am sorry for all your problems but going on and on is not going to settle anything unless you have a vendetta on your adgenda. You have obviously had problems but you insist that your dealer is not responsible. Parking in front of an innocent dealer with a "lemon" posted on your tractor does nothing but hurt an innocent business, Oh yes I do know about this. I had a dis-satisfied owner park in front of my place of employment with a BIG LEMON sign on his truck. We didn't sell it to him, he bought it up by the Canadian border for a few hunderd less but no support. All he accompliched was hurting a few salespersons commissions due to loss of sales, this in turn hurts the service dept prep personell. We went on as our reputation was good but nontheless it was a irritant that we did not deserve or have any part of. After all was said/done he didn't get a buy-back and asked if we would work on his truck. Of course we were wary but did so anyways. End result he admitted he should have first bought from reputable dealer in first place. But he did cost some of the sales/prep people money due to lost sales due to no fault of theirs. Think before you decide to park in front of some place of business, the people you hurt are those on the bottom.

A friend of mine paid $12,500 a few months ago for an L3010GST with SMC loader with 400 hr here on the left coast. Looks new. I will pay cash for the next one at that price I see around here. I will pay more with the Kubota loader. I may have to travel to get one....

So far so good. It starts and runs like a topm and has done everything I have asked of it so far. I wish I had the fel at my house as well as my camp. What a back saver!

The ergonomics seem to be the main points of selection between these tractors. Both are great tractors but many such as myself prefer the ergonomics of Deeres FEL joy stick and the twin touch ehydro pedals as well as brake pedal location. I am extremely pleased and satisfied with my 4410.

It doesn't have to be a huge recess to be effective, even just the radius of a 4" angle grinder stone is more than enough.

We made a 'blade sharpener' many years ago. It is just like a 'key cutter' with a guide bar that only lets the cutter engage the blade by a set amount. It also uses a high speed belt driven spindle that turns the grinding wheel in a stream of water to keep the stone and blade cold & clean. It is basically an old deck spindle stuck through the side of a horse water trough (stock tank), it's driven by a 1/3hp. 110v. motor with an old power steering pump shooting water from the bottom of the tank over the point where the stone meets the blade.

It probably cost all of about $20 to make and took an afternoon. But then we sharpen a LOT of blades too.

We grind ours down to about an 1/8", then that last bit gets a 45 deg. chamfer.

I would recommend getting a quality medium duty cutter instead of buying an inexpensive one first. A 6' medium duty (Woods or equal) with a slip clutch will take more abuse than you would be willing to give it and will stay working for years to come.

My 6' cutter is a medium duty Caterpillar Challenger model - it is probably identical to a Woods. So far the only disadvantage (besides the price) is the extra weight of this unit. This year I've cut heavy brush where the ground is full of unexpected suprises. No problems at all with the cutter.

I have about 3 of my 6 acres fenced for my 2 horses and am currently looking at alot of weeds coming up. Would like to know what folks out there maybe using to help knock down the weeds without having to keep the horses off the pasture for a long period, as I have the 3 acres split into two areas. I am currently looking a a little 2-4D on the other 3 acres not yet fence. Going to get that pasture in good shape before I fence it and put the horses on it. I was told I could use the 2-4D on the exsisting pasture and only have to keep the horse off for a couple days, but I read the label and it only mentions cattle and the person who told me this does not have horse's. So if any one could share some past use of products and experience. I would appreciate it. Most are your stndard broad leaf weed. with just a few of the wild rose.

I've posted a couple of pictures of the PD backhoe with the Woods subframe on it. It mounts real easy but the 3 point hardware has to come off first. Using the hydraulics on the backhoe you just lift the frame in place and then pin it. My PD came all assembled except for the ends on the hydraulic hoses and I had to put the bucket on. I'm still working on the seat problem, it's on a slight tilt to keep it off that hose bracket! I am very impressed with the hoe so far. With a little digging first it rips out my 6 inch diameter trees like pulling weeds. It does have the power I expected.

Green, we cut grass for a living (amongst other things) too. I encourage small owners & operators to cut for others.

The competition is no real threat to my business and it shouldn't be to yours either since as a 'pro' you must have 'pro equipment', right. Show me a CUT that will mow 6 or 8 acres an hour.

Do the math, a Kubota 2230 with a 60" MMM travelling at 5 mph would cover 26,400 feet an hour by 5 feet wide, or 132,000 square feet an hour, that is 3 acres an hour. If you consider that 3 acres an hour doesn't include turning around, navigating obstacles, slowing down, etc. then it's more like 2 acres an hour.

If that's competition to you then maybe you should think about changing fields.

I am looking for feedback on these 2 comparable tractors. I have 20 acres, 15 or so that I will be maintaining. Looking at getting a FEL, rough & finish pull behind mowers.<br>

Both are about the same price from my local Kubota and JD dealers. With the JD just a tad more money.<br>

I can give you an idea of how my DK 35 has been working out for me.
I have the kl1450 loader, it had 1 bucket cylinder O-ring leak when new.Took cylinder only to dealer and he repaired it on the spot.
The loader and mounting frame are well made and the lift power is good, but the roll back power could be stronger.
The tractor itself has been flawless, I have had it 2 1/2 years, just over 240 hours and have never had a single problem !!(none, nada,0)

As a kid the first gun I was given was a 28. It was lighter and easier on the shoulder than a 12 would have been.

Our farm has extensive fence rows and tree lines and they are full of birds. As a youngster I often spent entire weekends walking the hedgerows with my Golden Retriever, I got a few good meals out of that gun.

I still take it with me as a 'second' when deer hunting since walking the fire roads often flushes a few birds.

It is getting a lot harder to find shells for it nowadays though.

Mark, theres an article you would probably like in a publication I get. Its called The Stockman Grass Farmer and they have a web site. (easily found in a search, sorry url not handy). This article deals with a couple who have a small ranch and are completely off the grid. They have a pump rigged up off a stationary bicycle and a large pressure tank, all kinds of other nifty things to solve the problems of no juice.Bad news my dog ate the issue (literally) so I dont know the month. I'm sure it was this years and they sell back issues.Ill snoop around to see if I can find what month. This ranch is completely self sufficient and they live there 24/7/365.

In my search for a tractor w/FEL for landscape use I came across a NH 1725 w/FEL on eBay. The auction listed it as 4yrs. old w/550 hrs, 4x and 27hp. He compared it to a TC30 at $17,000. Sounded like good hours for a 4yr old tractor but now that I bid $10,955, I see that the only years that these were made was '97 & '98. That makes it atleast 6yrs old and everyone compares it to a TC29. Any advice or criticism about this purchase price?
