Another clue: I was surfing through the International Kubota web site and got the clear impression that you can only get UDT in other markets.

Super UDT seems to be a purely North American occurrence.

Save your money and buy an electric spade. No they don't make em, but if I drilled a hole in the handle of a shovel and glued a cord in it, someone would buy it and claim how much better it is.

Has anybody experienced a backward turning Tachometer? I noticed a week ago my tachometer needel was sticking, give it a LITTLE throttle and the needle would read 1900 rpm or so, I thought I would watch it for a little while before I called the dealer to see if it quit. Now it is going backwards, I will have to call the dealer this week. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

About once a month I get surveys in the mail from various universities and other organizations asking all sorts of questions about our private woodlands, how they are maintained, what we're growing, tree density, harvest plans, etc, etc. I sometimes fill them out and send them in but now I'm having second thoughts. Maybe this information will be used by various eco-nuts and government agencies to further restrict property rights and possibly prevent us from harvesting altogether. Has anyone else here been receiving these surveys?

I just bought serial number 72213, a 2001 50 hrs logged Model L4310 GST. Don't know if Kubota runs their serial numbers common and continuous within the L4000 family year-to-year (my hunch) but I would guess with that many hours and assuming the serial numbers run with continuity year to year within the L4000 family, you got either a 99 or 2000 model. Just a guess, mind you.

I have a Yanmar YM165D with a Yanmar loader. The caution and instruction labels are still on the loader, but the model label is either scraped off, or painted over so I don't know which loader it is. I was looking in a nearby Yanmar dealer a couple of years ago, though and there was no model made for the 165, though there was a note next to one loader that said it would work with the 165. Bottom line: the hydraulic pump for the loader leaks. the only legible numbers are a 'D', 242xx-2C where 'xx' may be AK, but it's very hard to make out. I need to know if I have to replace the pump, or if I can rebuild it. Also, if I over-fill the reservoir, will it cause too much pressure, blowing a seal in the pump?<br>

I agree w/ kwschumm, As long as it has 4WD it sounds like a screaming deal!!! If it has only 2WD look elsewhere. 2WD is useless w/ a FEL.

Interesting, I have the exact same problem. I also just purchased an L130 from Home Depot. It even smoked the first time I started it at Home Depot to load it on my trailer. I made a comment to the Home Depot Employee "why is smoking?" He said because it is new. I don't know, but when was the last time you bought a new car that smoked the first time you started up. I now have gone 15 hours with one oil change and it still smokes on start up. I talked with a service manager at Deer Creek Equipment. He said to let it go until the 25 hour oil change and bring it in if it is still smoking. I don't know if it will get better. This could be a engine design flaw. My L130 also usually backfires when turning it off even after letting idle for awhile before turning off the key. Please keep me informed of your outcome and I will keep you informed of mine.

The Yanmar engines used on compact tractors are direct injection engines and have manifold heaters rather than glow plugs. Some of the systems ignite fuel dribbled into the intake manifold and at least one of these has a plastic jug for the fuel that has to be topped up manually.

I'd verify that it's getting fuel as Murf mentioned and also that the intake manifold isn't obstructed. or in need of a new air filter and I would verify that the pre-heating system is working. Even if the pre-heater is working, it won't start easily if the starter doesn't spin the engine fast enough or the compression is low as Murf mentioned. I'd check battery/cables and starter. A compression test might be good.

I've heard of pine straw bailers and maybe pine straw rakes as well. Pine needles are a commercial product used for mulching in some areas of the Southeast and I believe there are specialized implements for the work that would likely work for spruce needles as well. Of course bailing them probably isn't of interest.

We get knee deep in pine and spruce needles here as well. They do compost reasonably well if mixed with lime and nitrogen fertilize, but it works better if they are mixed with leafs and other material.

My little 1965 JD 110 8 hp two wheel drive lawn and garden tractor can pull a 8" brinly plow.
My little 1987 JD 214 14 hp two wheel drive lawn and garden tractor can pull a 10" brinly plow.

So I am sure your BX can pull a 12" single bottom plow.

Sorry about the mess. Screwing the filler cap back in would have helped slow the flow until the plug was found. Hope it wasn't too bad a clean up.

It sounds like both circuits are affected and that there's a leak in the suction hose. Such a leak could sure cause the cavitation symptoms Murf mentioned. Bad luck the problem was noticed while performing heavy work and that it affected both circuits or the original thinking may have been different.
