ooooppps! I paid for mine last Friday, and walk out price was $15,800.000 for B-2910 HST with 72 inch mid-mount mower and turf tires, and low folding ROPS.....Hope you can get a better deal if you have nor gotten yet....I went to three dealers of a period of 3 months....all within a 50 mile radius of home....The dealer I have been trading with for 24 years has a non-existant service department...I wanted a better place to service my tractor....I knew what I wanter and walked in with cash(check actually)...I do not think you get a better deal with cash...You should be able to get a better price than that....another dealer in Dalton, Ga gave me the same price the first time I walked in...he did not know me...so nothing special.....I live in TENNESSEE...and we have a 10.75% sales tax and I wanted to see the difference in price due to tax....but there was none....so I bought a little closer to home....

Lu Anne, in my experience the most common reason for a belt coming off is mis-alignment of the pulleys.

If you have hit something and bent the deck then the spindle could be leaned back and this would result in the belt coming off as soon as load is applied.

It could also be that the tensioner is either not on right, or it is just not holding tight enough.

It's also been my experience that the 'silly single women' are the smart ones, not the dumb ones.....

I have 20 acres about 1 mile from Hallam, Nebraska. As you may have seen, we took major tornado damage in that area over the weekend. I was planning to purchase near the end of July, as that is when my outbuilding goes up but decided to pull the trigger now to clean up the tree damage.<br>

I had originally set my sites on a 4310 with FEL and Cutter but talked to the local dealer and I think I got a pretty fair deal on the 4710 with the same options. (460 FEL and an LX6 cutter) I debated about fluid vs weights and am opting for 400lb of wheel weights to start out. I am also getting a used scraper and hydrolic feed chipper.<br>

Looks like the new toy/tool will see some serious work in the very near future.<br>

I do have one more question for the group... Is the extended warranty from Deere something to consider? Looks like it would add a little over $1000 for an extra 36 months and 2000 extra Hrs. of coverage.<br>

I have had a B-8200 HST for 19 years....with a 60 inch bellymower for 19 years and I am keeping it because it still cuts as good as the day I got it!..My yard is 4+ acres and I cut two to three times a week when needed.....I can not wait til it gets here.....There are many custom things I have done to my B 8200 to make it cut better and it really cuts BETTER than it did when it was new! One of the best things I have ever done is to use 6 blades instead of 3....cross blades at right angles on each spindle....thats right not 3 but 6 blades.....I also "HOLLOW" grind my blades each time I cut....the clippings that come out are minuscule..and do not pile up on mowed part.....I also cut with mower all the way up on 8200..in transport possition....at 7 and 1/4 inches....you ought to see the thick lawn this gives....Just found this forum.....Love it.....

Sorry, I missed this thread completely somehow.

One of the biggest mistakes any self-employed person can make is not saying "no" when they should. One of the major things they teach you in business school is to not over-reach. It is too tempting to say yes every time the phone rings.

In fact I read a study recently that found most self-employed people were so afraid of being without work that they knowingly accepted jobs they KNEW they were to busy to take on, on a REGULAR BASIS. This is what leads to trades not showing up or disappearing as soon as you turn your back, they have to constantly run between jobs to keep too many people happy.

The result is they spend all their time driving around instead of working and in the end they make even less than if they had just said no in the first place.

The happy result, however, if you're brave enough to say your too busy to do something now, is that often your work becomes even more in demand, meaning you can demand more for it. The waiting list means you will never be without work.

Presently we are taking bookings for 'big jobs' for the winter of 2005/2006.... small jobs we can usually get to in 3 months.

Do your honest best and nobody will ever fault you for it.

As long as the fluid meets spec. you'll be fine.

The only thing you really have to watch is if you have a HST unit, regular hydraulic fluid is not the same as that required by a HST unit.

HST units require higher levels of certain additives, especially anti-foaming agents.

I think I'm going to cause too much "Cylinder Envy" with this one, and I'm sure my age is going to only make it worse...

I'll ease into it slowly, I was born in the 60's and my CI is DEFINITELY into the triple digits, in fact just what's at home is tickling 3 digits.

Thanks for the reply. It is scheduled for maintenance, but do not want to take it to the dealer, because of one service individual, who we always end up with, that has a condescending attitude. We discussed the issue with the owner, but nothing happened (we think he is a relative). Granted this is our first tractor, and I know very little about it, but don�t believe I need the attitude. We are trying to get onsite maintenance from a person that comes highly recommended. We thought about other dealerships, but they are to far away. Anyhow, the tractor is still under warranty, but I�m not sure if Kubota will honor his work? If all it needs is service then I�m not to worried. I don�t use the tractor except on the weekends and I believe I can get the maintenance person here sometime this week or next.

this is probably old news to most of you but i thought it might be helpful to some. i just bought a new B7610 with 60" mmm. i found if you jack up the front end with a floor jack about 6or8 inches it makes removing the mower a breeze

The particulars involved with this, have been in business selling different chinese tractors for many years. I have seen other complaints posted on boards, over the years. I highly suspect that they have been sued or been threatened to be sued, in the past. ie don't assume they are newbies that are going to run from the first sign of a lawyer. All part of descussions you should have with your lawyer.

Do you own a high lift jack? Any auto parts store shuold have one. They pull as good as they push. <br>

If you can get the jack in the middle of a length of chain and wrap one end around a sturdy tree you can slowly winch your self out. Use that come-along to take all the slack out of the chain before you start running the jack.

I have a rear mount mower, and yes, it is convenient to get on and off the tractor...that is the only advantage, period. A MMM does a better job, is faster at getting close to trees, and you don't get a pain in your neck from having to turn around all of the time. If my tractor had a mid PTO, I would trade it in a heartbeat.

When I was doing my turf-grass courses I had a professor who told me to go back to growing corn because I wasn't going to make it in the turf industry, several years later he was fired from a consulting job because he miscalculated the ratios in an autmated feeding system and nearly killed about 100 acres of turf. The golf course owner brought me in to fix the problem.

The turf came back, the professor did not.

If you don't already have them, wheel weights will help.

If memory serves, those wheel wells are packed pretty tight and there may not be much room to push the tires outward. If you could there would be additional leverage on the axle and its internal components.

If your BX feels tippy, you probably would have real trouble with something bigger... the BX is very low to the ground and about as stable as a small tractor can get.
