I have had two small Kubotas now... a BX22 and presently, an RTV 900. I read every word of both manuals(my German side did it, I can't help it!). <br>

Kubota only sez to refrain from sudden starts and stops and try to avoid full speed ops for the first 50 hours.... not a word I could find about varying the speed.<br>

I have also had two small Deere's. They say put that tractor to work and change the oil at 50 hours.<br>

The only thing I can tell you is that Deere is very conservative and Kubota is more so, and... my oil takes twice as long to turn dark on my Yammar diesels as it does on my Kubota diesels.<br>

Mow as you must, kick it in the butt when you have to, change the oil at 50 hours and let not your heart be troubled. You own one of the finest small diesel engines ever conceived by the mind of man.

Today a local dealer offered a 1988 Kubota 4500 4wd diesel with FEL for $11,800. About 2,500 hours. Looked good...said it was a 'strong runner'. Paint was fresh, so couldn't tell actual wear...<br>

When you purchase any type of vehicle in a private deal make sure you don't "accidentally" understate the value of the transaction. I recently purchased a 21' bowrider in private deal. NY State matches the transaction to the used book value and highlights it if the transaction is out of whack. Net effect: one must pay tax according to reasonable used book value. Penaly for underpayment amounts to about an additional 5% over 8.5% tax which must be paid. Computer database matching is everywhere. A lesson not to be repeated. :(

I've priced out and compared the 4110($23k), TC21DA($22k), CK20HST($17k, no sales tax &1k rebate=16k), B7510($18k) & BX23($15k). Gonna look at the CK20HST and BX23 this Sat. Can't see any reason I wouldn't choose the Kioti over the Kubota since they are in different classes(sub & compact) for same bucks.

Also, the Kioti dealer is advising indi tires instead of turf tires, says he's had a few complaints about lack of traction. I need both lawn and rocky woods use, any thoughts on this? Thx!

I know what you mean about intant decisions and that is one reason I am thinking of advancing my options. For 7 years I worked in R&D most of the times it was, "Hey we need something made up that will support this valve in the new system we are developing, can you make something like this?" That was the engineer talking to me LOL. "OK" And I go ahead and figure out what will work and machine it. Now I have been in a tool room for 71/2 years in anouther company. Guess what? Nothing is different, We have
one (1) engineer that actually engineers ALL the others depend on US to figure out what will work and then make it. OH yea, we then need the approval of the guy who will get the coodo's for the great fixture,gage,tool special machines what have you. I know they have many more important things to do (at my place where I work) than to have to design something that would work, and besides we like the interaction we have along with the satisfaction of patting ourselves on the back. It is also more interesting doing the engineering part of my job than it is to actually make it. Since I know what I will be able to do (if its practical and cost effective to put tolerances on what ever needs tighter fixes) Alot of the newbies we get have no clue how or why you can or cant. Anyway that is why I figure I should go ahead and advance although raising a familly has held me back from this. I am on the end of the raising part so I can "if I want" In a few years quit and hit the books for a couple of years (wife will have to earn her keep for awhile) More than she has been.

I've recently purchased a Yanmar 220 D from a private citizen and origianl owner. I'd like to change the filters but don't have access to a local dealer. I've seen post I think in the past about NAPA filters. Could someone please provide the NAPA or other brand parts numbers for the following filters:<br>

I'm sure Kubota set the 550# limit to allow for the effects of leverage and shock loads when driving over bumps with the cutter in a raised position. If you exceed the weight limits and something breaks Kubota could void your warranty, and I'm sure the implement dealer wouldn't help you out. I think your conclusion on the safe way to go is the correct one.

"N" stands for Narrow. It is designed to fit between rows of certain fruit crops.

"G" is for gear transmission and "H" is for HST.

Typically hour meters are very simple clocks. If the cable to the hour meter is energized (as it would be if the tractor was running), the hour meter is running. If the hour meter is not running - either 1) there is no input voltage. 2) there is a mechanical / electrical problem with the motor or linkage driving the clock wheels - these latter parts are located withing the hour meter itself.

I am in the process of purchasing a property where the house will be placed 1600� off the main road. I intend to install a 10'w gravel/stone driveway, but would like to know what people recommend for the cross-sectional design� ie: how deep should the box be, how much gravel, how much stone, fabric placement... etc. The soil is mostly clay, and is moderately well drained. (Firm in the summer�. softer in the spring). Secondly, roughly how long would it take an operator to complete this project assuming there is no clearing required and the slope is gentle. At this point, im just trying to get a handle on the costs involved in installation. Any advice would be much appreciated. Please be specific on type of stone or gravel you recommend. Thanks!!

The other thing to note in all of this theoretical rambling is that there is a variable here also.

A HST has a variable efficiency rating, generally they are far more efficient at slower travel speeds.

This would mean that the same HST-equipped CUT would have more PTO hp. available for tasks like roto-tilling, than they would for cutting flat, smooth areas of turf at higher speeds. Even more power would be available for tasks like running a PTO-powered chipper since the HST would not be working at all.

Personally I thought Pete & Mark's theory were more colourful, but that's just my dry, twisted sense of humour I suppose.

During my interminable confinment to a hospital bed I drove the nurses crazy with the incessant one-liners and bad jokes. I had one young nursing assistant laughing so hard one day she developed a case of hiccups that lasted 2 days.

When she came in and said she was there to give me a sponge bath, I told her my mother had taught me to never accept gifts from strangers, so if she did I would have to give it back to her.

Apparently it hit her as remarkably funny.

In hindsight I shouldn't have said it, the replacement nurse wasn't 22 years old and attractive.

Do you have a mid-mount mower that is raised with the 3 point or a rear mower? Make sure the down position limit stop hasn't slid into position limiting the downstroke. Suggest oiling or lubing the pivot points on the lever and checking to insure that all fasteners are properly in place.

Side Note: My new Kubota RTV has two oil filters on the HST, as opposed to an oil screen and a filter.

At the base of each of the filters is a manifold connected to the radiator which supplies coolant to the device.

An interesting way to regulate the HST oil temp, eh?
