I would recommend the 4110. Go to your dealer and operate the different tractors and you will make a much better informed decision. I chose the 4110 over the 4115 because I plan on using a 60" deck. The 4115 was designed for use with a 72" mower.The hydraulic capacity is the same on both, except the 4115 has a little more hp and lugging power. I didn't feel the 4115 was worth the extra money for what I will be using the tractor for. I also ordered the FEL with the 61" bucket.

The JD 870 has 1385 hrs., FEL is model 80, A few dings in the body metal, Tractor starts great and runs great in a test run. The loader operates smoothly. The asking price is $9800. The owner buys and resales used tractors. He normally cleans them up, touches up the paint, and goes through the engine for tuneups. After he does these things, he will be asking $11,000 for the tractor. Is this a fair deal?

Chris, glad to hear back, still seems impossible to me that we can communicate so easily with people on the other side of the globe. If you're seriously considering a backhoe go back to the Kubota dealer and get his recommendation on what your tractor is capable of handling. I don't know much about Kubota's, but I do know from reputation that they build fine equipment. Dealers who have been in business for quite some time and have built a good repeat customer base won't sell you something that he knows you won't be happy with because he want's your repeat business too.

Hello Barnee, Glad to hear everything is ok with you (except the weather) and that your still on the board. I just put 54 hrs on mine and need to service. When I go to buy filters and oil I'll have to ask the dealer whats up with that temp. guauge. It's going to be a few weeks though because I'am working 7 days 12 hrs. we have had rainy and cold weather here.

The 70 series tractors have electric shut off. If you lost power to the pump it would not run or start.

Thanks for the clarification on flipping the wheels around. You make a good point - one worth considering.

I'm still a bit frosted that this has come up, thus the cranky tone of my last post. The dealer should have known this would be an issue (this is *not* a small dealership).

I didn't like being so negative about the 9N because it's got so much soul. If you're willing to do things at its speed, you can accomplish much with it. One thing it does have going for it is it stability on hills. I've probably driven ours for 40 years and never felt the sphincter warning system go off until I tried to take my new Kubota on the same sidehill that I'd used the 9N on many times.<br>

If money is an issue you can probably get a nice running 9/2/8N for $2000-$3000 and be able to get your money back easily if you don't like it. Better yet, the Ford Jubilee is similar sized but has both live hydraulics and pto for around $3500 or so. Up in the $6k range there are many possible tractors that could work for you, but most are not as compact in size as the N series or have as low a center of gravity.<br>

Tom, being an engineer sometimes makes it difficult to trust engineering. At the same time, it seems only reasonable that this issue would have been adressed.

I want to go back to the parts manual and see where the oil pump intake is, and the hydrostat. I can't help that think that 45 degrees nose down would be an extreme condition, and maybe outside of the recommended operating conditions.

Normally, if you overload a hydrostat, you can hear the squeel from the pressure relief opening. If you starve it, short term I'm not sure what you would hear. Long term, I bet it would make quite a racket.
