Just retired, and about to build/improve 10 acres in hill country near Adelaide, South Australia. I'm a novice to the tractor etc. world, and after a lot of reading in this forum, I'm about ready to buy a Kubota B2710 with FEL, slasher (rear rough mower). I'm thinking about a multi-purpose/4-way bucket for the FEL - similar to what I've seen on Bob-Cat equipment, but can't seem to find much information on this. My Kubota dealer has nothing but praise for the 4-way, which he can supply as a $US2,000 add-on to the base cost of around $US4,500 for the Kubota FEL, but I'd like to hear from people who've actually used one in the general landscaping, clearing, picking up fallen bracnhes etc. etc. area. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place(s), and would appreciate assistance/pointers from anyone on this board. Thanks a lot.

If the L series is like the B series, the auxiliary circuit would run from the Power beyond plug on the loader valve, or from the rear hydraulic block of the tractor. I put an auxiliary circuit on my B7800 off the power beyond of the loader valve. Total cost, not including the cylinder was about $250. The "Kits" are avalailable from Tractorsmart, visit their site and the kit numbers and pricing is there. It will cost you quite a bit more than getting the parts on your own.

Surpluscenter and Northerntool are two good sources for valves, fittings and cyliners.

Make sure the valve you get has Power Beyond, you will need it to complete the circuit back to the tractor. From the loader valve, go from the power beyond port to the inlet port of the aux. valve. From the power beyond of the aux. valve back to the PB port on the tractor. The exhaust from the auxiliary valve will tee with the exhaust of the loader valve. From a rear hydraulic block, check out your owners manual, it explians which port is which on the block.

Yes, there is satisfaction to building (and modifying) the homebuilt, but the financials don't compute, esp when very good factory machines have come down so much is price. I don't mean Woods/Mazzotti/Amerequip here. Used (not abused) is a good choice if you can find them.

The JXC series equates to the TN series. The JX is a lesser tractor as far as features go. Just compare and you will see the differences. The JX1070C will equate to the TN70.

Definitely a major failure. Can't tell much else. I'd like to see a close-up of the failed components (clutch housing, whatever). It would be interesting to see what the bolt holes look like - if they are a pull-through failure, or a torsional type failure, or if there was a crack somewhere else that didn't involve the bolt holes.

Grass, I'd bet all brands have had major failures of one kind or another. I remember seeing a Kubota backhoe that was twisted like a pretzel - Kubota claimed it was due to the addition of an aftermarket thumb. Who the heck knows? One failure does not a trend make, but if there are a smattering of similar failures then there's probably an engineering defect somewhere.

It sounds like the B7510 or B7800 could also be good choices for what you want to accomplish.

Second discussion today about mowing slopes and the safety hazards and considerations involved. Nobody has mentioned any effect of the lubrication consequences. I have wondered if operating on slopes in any way effects the availability of oil to the oil pump, or am I off base here? Any comments would be appreciated.

I didnt think to check the color of the smoke when it cranks, but I did notice it cranks faster than normal although it always started right away. So I'll look to see if there is a compression release. I havent got a clue on how to bleed the injectors, so I'll investigate these things after work today and continue this saga tomorrow. meantime, thanks for the assist...

It has been kept under cover since new. I will be selling it in a few months and would like to know what kind of price I should ask for it. Thank you

The B7001, for all intensive purposes, is the same as an "english" bred version B7100, only in Japanese. As far as a manual, the B7100 manual will be exactly what you need less the japanese lingo. As stated earlier, these earlier models, all utilized a left hand turn of the key, spring loaded, to energize the glow plug function of the ignition. Typically, as you look on the dash, there will be a small (about 5/16) hole with a coil spring behind it. This is an indicator for heat getting to your glow plugs. If this coil does not turn orange, or hot, the unit will not start, as your glow plugs have not been heated.

If you are considering R-1 tires the extra weight will drive them into soft soil and you will leave deeper tracks where ever you go.

If you are using turfs or R-4's you will see a major increase in rear traction with little or no increase in soil disruption.

If I had three driveways to maintain I would absolutely have hydraulic top and tilt, AND I would opt for position control, even if you have settle for less HP to get it.

It is about a $1000-$1200 add-on.

In essence, it is the "fine tuning knob" used to regulate the blade of the fly.... if you can consider 1 mph flying.

Sometimes rotating equipment is designed to turn in one direction. The threads that fasten the gears and blades might have been specifically cut right or left hand so normal rotation keeps things tight. I'd hate to have a blade fly off or a gear slip on the shaft because the nut loosened up.

WHich loader does it have? they were generally equiped with one of two. I have the larger 440 on mine and it is a very powerful unit. As far as price, I would check the local library for the annual tractor pricing manual. As a comparison, mine is a 1996 with 250 hours in top shape, stored inside, (not just under cover) and is probably worth about $12,500. Age isnt so important, condition, hours and the care it has received are. Lots of people think its tough love to leave the tractor out in the rain and sun, but thats false economy. Good luck.

I think there are a few differences between the auto market and the tractor market. At least I hope there are. Automakers use model runs as a marketing tool to sell more units, and to update technology. This has been traditionally done in model year runs, but even that is getting muddled with model years being introduced earlier in the year than the traditional September launch.

Tractor models do change from year to year, but not like autos. Tractors are monitored in hours, not miles. The only way to really know what year tractor you are buying, unless there was a nodel change, is from the serial number. A tractor model may runs for several years without changing. The value of the tractor will be determined by what model it is, the condition of the machine, and how many hours are on it. As long as the dealer didn't leave it out front of the store for a year weathering, the year the machine was built is not a key indicator of it's value.
