I have a brand new L100. I also bought the 6.5 Bushel Rear Bagger. The bagger was in a factory seeld box and therefore I believe I have all the parts. The instructions are incomplete. For example, on step three the pictue shows parts that came with the bagger already installed even though steps 1 and 2 never indicated how to install the parts. Also, the parts dont fit properly. Specifically the support arm and brace dont seat right and fall out easily. Also, the black tube that connects to the blade shroud doesnt fit even though I'm lifting the plastic and metal blade cover.<br>

I contacted my local dealer and they said they have had many complaints from consumers regarding this accessory and they would be glad to install it for a fee. I contacted John Deere directly and they said to go to the dealer.<br>

I feel that is unfair. I paid 1,500 for the tractor and 300 for the bagger. I didnt anticipate paying additional money to have it installed. I specifically bought the John Deere because of their reputation and to avoid problems just like this one. I feel I got ripped off.<br>

Does anyone have any practical advice for me on how to install this bagger, or has anyone else experianced this sort of problem with other accessories?<br>

As stated above, a Tractor would be much more versatile with numerous attachments and would be a more common machine for resale.

Thank You and Congratulations on your new toy. I can't help you yet with the bagger as we sell more trailers then the mounted type but as soon as I can find out will let you know. I would think ten minutes is a realistic time frame from when I've looked at them.

Actually Mecheng it's NOT a standard distance between manufacturers.

In fact in some cases it varies between MODELS of the same manufacturer, and to make it even more complicated still, there is normally 3 positions in which the toplink can be connected to the tractor.

Just in case that didn't make enough of a mess of the whole affair, there is also the fact that the upper link pivot and the pivot point of the lower arms differ, sometimes dramatically in the fore/aft plane, this of course makes a big difference in the arc they move in.

The bottom line is that this, as my Professor used to say, "This is a clear cut case of an instance where the Schindler Shaft and the Sport Flange cannot relate in a physical sense, and if they did they resultant load on the keyway would far exceed the design criterion causing an almost certain failure in the Foofoo valve, this in turn would cause us to have to change subjects or just move on."

Or in Layman's terms, "You can't get there from here.".

He didn't teach us anything different than any of the other Professors, but he sure was a lot more INTERESTING to listen too.

In many places, treated wood is not allowed in waterway contruction. Cedar will hold up extremely well without warping, twisting, or rotting. It will also not leak toxins into the waterway. The galvanized barn siding should last at least 20 years. We haven't replaced any for the past 15. You are right about treated wood and metal. The posts and stringers are cedar. The treated cap won't effect the siding.

This makes for a nice looking wall, and are pretty easy and cost effective to construct. At last years material prices, they were running about $9/ft.

Yes, I suppose it's a balancing act, and probably the larger the turf tire the more the expense. As it is, I prefer to shift to 4WD and low gear when loading on gravel surface to avoid having the wheels dig in. I have lots of barn space, so I just may have two sets of tires, one for winter, the other for summer. With air tools its quick to change over.

Looking at a Ford 1710 fwd with a 770 loader. Tractor has 3500 hours on it, it's a 1986 model. That seems to be a lot of hours for one of these small engines. Runs very good, looks great (new paint), but the hours scare me off. Anybody have experience with one of these and advice on engine life? Thanks

Beagle, some time ago I saw a position control device a fellow had made for a slightly larger tractor, but the concept would be the same. He did a lot of rural driveway maintenance and so needed a grader like apparatus.

His system used a pair of runners like a sliegh would have, one each side of the grader. A control rod ran vertically from them to a sensor mounted on top at each side, they in turn controlled electrically-operated hydraulic valves to maintain a set elevation. The runner served to even out small bumps and smooth the movements.

By merely adjusting a sliding collar clamped to the control rod he could adjust the finished elevation with nothing more than a screw-driver.

He told me he was working on a similar type of setup using a control rod on the rock shafts of the 3pth to do the same thing with the 3pth.

I've personally never tried it, but I have heard of people using the spray emulsion normally used to seal asphalt.

Domogala, I have both styles in the fleet.

If you look at my pic. # 18 you will see an attachment I made recently for my personal machine at home. It uses the pin-style coupler.

There are much more choices for SSL (skid steer loader) style quick-tatch attachments, they are also a lot more expensive, especially if you want to make them yourself or have them made for you.

IMHO, if it is just for homeowner use, go with the pin-style of Kubota's, it will do everything you want, and it's cheap.

For what my 2 cents is worth (1.3 cents US) I have to agree with Billy, unless you have some real obstacles to manuever around there is no reason at all to look back very often.

It doesn't take very long to get the hang of lining up the center of the hood, the FEL arm or a front tire or something as a guide to get just the right track to overlap the last pass just enough to cut clean without wasting time. We do MANY acres of rough cutting with bush-hogs and flail (Mott) mowers and the boys rarely have to look back other than to back up.

It's sort of like towing a trailer, once you get the hang of where it is and how it tracks behind you nothing more than the odd glance to make sure it's still there is required.
