I have a 1995 JD 855 FWD with a 60" mid mount mower with about 1800 hours on it. Tractor has mainly been used to cut lawn and shows some wear, it has a ding in the hood and the deck has been welded several times. I bought it new and had all the hydrolics installed for a front loader but never purchased the loader. I'm looking to sell it and was wondering if anyone knows what a fair price would be to ask.

I seem to remember a post in which onace called someone a moron over this very subject.....................sound familiar????????? ;o) Then it was OK because "we" were all being "very blunt". ;o) Now it seems to be a different story when in fact it IS the SAME OLD sorry STORY.........if you disagree and can no longer make your point or case with logic and facts or at least what you in good faith think are such in a civil exchange of ideas............just call the other guy a provocative name or make a really rude or obnoxious comment to completely smoke screen the issue. Then a few other self rightous, self appointed referees can jump in a throw out a few pompus words when in fact the name calling and rude comments NEVER should have been used.

We are all here to learn something and once in awhile on a good day with luck; help someone out with a problem.......at least I am.

How about let's stick with the issue and leave all of the other crap out ehhhh??????? ;o)

With all the help and advice from Ken, Art, Murf, Mark, AV8R, Chief and others I decided on the BX 2230,loader, 54" mower and bagger. Probably a BX 1500 would have been enough, but now I have plenty of power. My John Deere neighbors with a 585 and 455 were surprised how quiet this tractor is. Now I am just waiting for the grass to grow. I have done some digging with the loader and it works very well. If anyone has any tips on taking off and putting on the bagger I would appreciate that information. Thanks again to the forum.

A customer of ours blew his 2610 apart this morning.<br>
A maintained clean tractor in fact we just put a new 6 ft cutter on it for him last week. His mistake was he bragged on how he loved her etc, etc. <br>
Well he came by our shop this morning with the news. No noise no warning just bang and both sides of the block a plate sized hole now. <br>
I have called around but no luck if anyone knows of a salvage unit or access to a new engine please pass it along.<br>

Since the B7800 is not equipped with position control on the three point, I have built and am testing two different position indicators for the 3-point. The design I have on the tractor now seems to nbe working very well, definitely accurate enough to know where the hitch is.

The indicator operates off a bell crank on the lift arms, and reads directly to an indicator box mounted in front of the operator. The indicator scale is graduated to give about 1/2" difference in elevation indication.

So far, repeatability of grade has been very good, and it seems to be standing up to field conditions with about 4 hrs of use on it so far. After about 10hrs of use, if it still stands up, I would believe it would be worth sharing. So far, I can't believe how ell it works. Pictures to follow. Total cost was about $200.

Ahh! Great advice on all accounts. I am reading up on Firestone and other web sites and will probably work with my friendly local Les Schwab guys and will report back later.

My buddy just bought a Kubota B7400 last night, nice little tractor, but I just cant see downsizing that much. All the JD dealers around here tell me that the JD870 (and other 70 series) was and is a most desirable model and even offered to buy it at a decent should I want to trade in.

Want the tractor assembled in the U.S.? You can do it in your own backyard and save about $1500. Check out Tractorconnection, they will arrange for you to get one in the crate, with all the instructions and a video on putting them together.

The caution is that they don't always go together quite right, and you need a support source for glitches that are encoutered during assembly. I believe they offer a support service as well.

I gotta remember not to trust memory like I used to. It's the second thing that goes, right.

But top link vertical spacings do vary a lot, depending on the size of the machine. It will effect how the inplements levels without changing top link length.

Thanks for the comments -- they are helpful. I will hold off on any committments for a bit and take another look at the 4115 with the BH and FEL. I did notice the possible roughness of the BX when on terrain that is not as rugged as mine. Thanks.

Nothing extra thrown in for the $14,900. When I walked in I was expecting the price to be a good bit higher. So when the salesman wrote down the price on his card, my checkbook leaped out of my pocket. Hard to bargain after that happens.

Thanks for the insight fellas. My ground here is very rocky, many the size of a clenched fist and just a real pain to spade thru. I tease my wife about planting flowers with a spud bar! I'm always involved in some little project and figured a small hoe would save my spine. I have the p.t.o. pump and such to power a number of cylinders and was considering building my own hoe attachment custom fit to the tractor/my needs. I love my BX1500 and for the other uses, I don't need a bigger tractor or the expense of one. If I do decide to pursue this venture further, I'm going to fabricate a sub-mount that will allow me a "fast hitch" feature with the hoe. The fun in this for me is in the design and fabrication....upon completion of that, the work begins. (I'm married)

Mark, this is something different. It involves replacing two cradle bearings (at $42 a piece) but you have to tear the hydro down to get to them.

The new engine was put in then ran 2 years (174 hours) then threw the rod again. I realize its over 2 years, but geez, 174 hours with regular maintenance?! Yes I have the papers. New Holland fired the last customer service person and now there is a new person reviewing the file. I will continue to post everrywhere, make waves etc...until I get some action. Especially since I have gotten wind of documents relating to my series of the motor and other issues floating around out there. Thanks for helping out. Suggestions?

I know you said that you are looking for a finish mower, but I own the 7800 and have the 60"mmm and I would say it can be removed just as fast as the finish mower. Two pins in the rear and a lever in the front and PTO shaft. If you go to the 72" model, I believe they are drive over decks. Just thought I would give you a different prospective.

What a machine!! I totally love my new L3400. I did have some issues right off the get go. The signal light on the back left was mounted in the wrong hole, no big deal. Also They sent me a machine with a bent rear right rim. . The morning after it was dropped off, I had a flat tire! That really pissed me off when they said they would fix it Monday, when I wanted to take the weekend to try out my new machine. I called them back and bitched at them, and even though they never had any maintenance staff on shift, a salesman actually came to my house the same day to fix it. First he brought the tire, mounted on the rim backwards and didn't have a proper size wrench, so he went back to the shop to fix it. By 7:00 at night the machine was ready to go. When I finally did get to drive it, the tire pressures were way out of whack. The Rear tire on the left wouldn't even register a pressure, so I have set all tires at 19 PSI. They are Industrial tires and can go up to 30 PSI from what I understand. All in all, I am glad they provided good service, or I would have not only stopped doing business with them, I would plastered there bad name where ever I could.
