I have machines with both factory and aftermarket cabs (see pic. # 6) and have tried several different makes of aftermarket cabs as well.

Where factory cabs are available I prefer to go with them, there is less fiddling around and they fit better. The other big advantage with factory cabs nowadays is they often come complete with a well filtered air system including A/C.

IMHO the extra few dollars for the factory cab is well worth it. In certain cases unfortunately a cab just isn't offered on a particular model.

It is new (Dec '03) and the latest sales literature show a factory approved lightweight backhoe. While I couldn't get exact specs, it was mounted on the tractor in the picture I saw and judging from it's relative size it has a six foot reach.<br>

This 1100 pound tractor, to my knowledge, would be the lightest T/L/B package on the market and the only one available with a gasoline engine.

I would second the notion that anything less than a 6 foot B/H would have questionable utility.

That said, there is no reason why the BX 1500 couldn't handle a properly designed lightweight 6 foot backhoe.

Have I gone over the edge? Blowing smoke? What am I basing this on?

The standard is not to have a standard.

Out of the four implements I have only one that has a vertical height of 18". That one is a JD 616 rotary cutter. That's even changed now, with the invent of the I-Match.

That makes things a little clearer, and yes I was thinking of sheetpile, but they also make it in lighter duty (thinner gauge) material, I have also used just plain galvanized (or painted for that matter) roofing for the same purpose, it works just fine and is CHEAP.

If you have relatively good access you could easily build yourself some plywood forms and have a readymix cement truck pour you some huge slabs about 4" thick and full of 6" steel mesh, basically big patio slabs. If you place a scrap of chain at the top corners picking them up and placing them with the FEL is real easy. You could either stand them up or just lean them against the bank. It will be a fast easy solution that you can go at your own pace with. You also have the option of colouring the concrete any colour you (or your wife) wishes.

The 355/80D is a metric tire code, it is in fact described as 355/80D20 which in english means the tire has a section width of 355 millimeters, it is 80 in aspect ratio, and it goes on a 20" diameter rim.

It is a big flat turf tire with many little chevron shaped lugs and will give outstanding traction on almost any surface so long as the tread does not fill with soil. On grass, hard surfces, ice or hard-packed snow it will probably give you the best traction available with that level of floatation.

If your happy with the R-1's I would suggest you just go to the widest R-1 you can put on your existing rims.

Billy and Art..... my BX had the "creeps" and a parking brake that wouldn't hold.

I acquired a pedal adjustment procedure that I sent to a couple other BX owners on the board who had the same problem.

Art ,you might be on to some thing here,the bx does have an adjustment ,when adjusted up all the way in which i think your suposed to have an 1/8" clearance from the stop,could this affect the cut?

That's a good explanation. I never knew how it worked but speculated that maybe the additive reduced surface tension. A sacrificial layer sounds like a better explanation.

My speculation for why the bubbles form is a variation. It has to do with sound being pressure waves and water boiling at lower temperatures in lower pressures. Of course, there may be better explanation here as well. If that's true then seems like a good reason to make sure the rad cap holds pressure.

RexRoth is a recognized name in pumps. A NS search will turn up quite a few hits. Below is a link to Precision Hydraulics. The company lists both sales and repair services. There's a good chance a new pump be rebuilt or a new one found without resorting to the tractor manufacturer's parts support. A local hydraulics shop might be able to help.

Production year usually can be determined from a serial number but in this case tractortips doesn't have serial number data for the model.

Sounds a bit like our wash shed. Had to put the 10' x 10' shed on 6x6 rails up on six 3' posts to get a drainage angle to a raised gray water pit. We used PT 6x6 with 3'+ in the ground. The underpinnings are substantial since it does have walls and is meant to support some weight.

Now that I think of it, a platform with railings and steps in the trees sounds pretty good for older kids like me either. Around here the buildings code people and insurance inspectors likely would get involved and the 'approved' structure probably wouldn't end up as 'fun.'

One advantage of posts is that the corners could be stacked and the posts plumbed. Unless that's done nothing's going to be square and most parts even for a platform of this size would have be custom measured and fit. Sort of pleasant work though if there's time for it. I'm not sure how well metal hangers take to odd angles.

I am not sure there is a number designation. Certainly there is not in the manual for the 755-955. I would use the displacement 650 cc or 40 cu in designation.

So you are telling me that if I buy a used car from a the manufactures dealer I and it falls in half I have no recourse and it is not necessarily a defect.
I would say unless there is external damage to the housing the tractor should stay in one piece. There is likely a flaw in the casting that is not evident during manufacture. Often these flaws show up later. One way to tell is if there was rust on the crack when it broke. This means the crack was pre-exsisting in the iron. We had a Kioti do a similar thing a while ago that was in waranty. In the discussion there was no evidence of abuse.
Good grief I have had 50 year old tractors that have gone through hell and the frame is in one piece. How much abuse can a 4 year old tractor have taken?

what ever you do,,do it FAST,,prices on forks are going up FAST,,metal,,I think I would look at a rental store, that wants to re-new,,should run about $650 new,,you are looking for ClassII ,,forged,,stay away from Chinese forks(they are bent NOT forged)

I agree with DRankin,,keep in mind,,when you have a 5 foot scrape blade on a skew,,you are only cutting 4 feet,,and be sure you buy one you can "offset" and angle,

Well I dont have to purchase the policy to get the loan, I can get my own ins. thru my home owner for about $65 a year. That would only cover theft and loss due to fire/flood ect. The dealer ins. covers damage to tractor just like a colision policy on your car except it will pay me the FULL purchase price even if it is 5-6 years old. The policy is for 72 months and I do believe if I pay it off early (which I had planned to of course) It is up to the dealer if I get the policy remainder returned to me or not. I dont like that, but I do like the idea of if a tree falls on my tracor or if a miss hap like what happened to kwschumm happens that it would be repaired free of charge (except the $200 ded.) Tough call I guess, sound though like I will get it broke off in my ##!! if I pay it off early. Anouther way of looking at it is that if I were to make a claim on my homeowners policy if it gets stolen, that would be ONE (1) claim away in that year from loosing my ins on my house and paying jacked up fees for the next 5 years. ( I once made 2 claims in a 6 month period and was put on a blackball list for 5 years, was dropped imediatly and could only find very HIGH state ins) That was the first 2 claims ever made by me in 12 years on the home owner policy ( some one broke into my truck twice in 4 months and took items not covered by car ins. but they were covered under the home owners) I learned a very good lesseon and that was to NEVER make a minor claim because if something happens in the next11 months and you NEED to make anouther claim you are a marked person to the Ins. companys. Waiting on the dealers response I asked him if I could pay the premiums thru normal means and not financed.

The Kubota loader will fit more "neatly" then the Woods loader,both are good loaders,,NOW,,if you are putting the Quick hitch on the bucket,,I would look at adding the optional(after market) hyd to the front of the loader arms for ,,like,,a 4-1 bucket,grapple,anything hyd ,etc,,it runs about $500
