Bob, there has been many discussions on ballast in the farm machinery world as to what is best. You should seek a 25% front 75%rear balance, you should check your owners manual for your maximum weight allowed on this tractor. My suggestion would be to only load the rear tires if that is your choice of ballast to use. The cacium is the cheapest but not the best,it's been found that cast weight gives better traction per pound than calcium. The liquid slows the reflex rate of the tire so it can't flex fast enough to compensate for ground contour changes. Over ballasting a tractor reduces fuel economy as well as drive train life,tires and all mechanical parts around by properly over ballasting a tractor chassis you can bring a 10,000hour tractor to a death in a mere 2500 hours with out operator neglegence.

It really depends on what your intended use is for the tractor. I've owned 2 B21 TLBs,and have never touched the brake except to set parking brake.I usr the hoe quite often and in tight areas can use the hoe to stear the back.<br>My little B21 makes me a living day in day out in landscaping,excavating and I'm sure if you've checked the rest you have to admit KUBOTA is by far the best CTLB ,power ,balanced (full integrated frame front to back),predictable,fuel economy,this thing will push into a pile like a dozer in low gear.I've got 6000 hrs on my 91 B20.

3M makes a product that comes on a roll in grey black and white it's primary use is as a anti-slip facing for stair, deck, walkway, etc. available in 1,2 and 3 inche widths used it on my 4300 the stuff is super tuff. Good luck enjoy your tractor and have fun!!!!!!

HWD;<br> I have a JD 755 which is the predecessor of the 4100. 20hp. The 413 is recommend for the 4100. I have the 413, and have put about 50 hours on it. I would not get a larger hog for a 20hp. I paid $800. It has a slip cluch and a chain veil on front.<br>David
