The 35 horsepower you talk about is 35 PTO hosepower which puts you up to about 40 engine horsepower needed. I'd really be wondering about the equipment you need to do this which will cost quite a bit. A new baler is about 15000 at a minimum or 5000 for a reliable used one, mower for the hay 12000 new, even used for a good reliable one you would be about 4000 and a rake for 1000 about the same for a used tedder and then a couple of wagons new at about 3000 each or used for 1500 to 2000.

I lost the cover on the tooth on my backhoe bucket. I need to "peen" the cover back on but the one side is too close to the other tooth to get a good swing and I can't seem to get enough force on the other to get the small flange to indent enough to keep the cover in place. Any suggestions?

The full system pressure may not be appropriate depending on loader design. On another thread there's also the question of appropriate circuit relief pressures. Many valve assemblies have their own pressure reliefs that are adjustable. Some may not have circuit reliefs though.

One of the problems in a home-brew design is that the normal system or working pressure may allow loads that exceed the tractor's structural capabilities. The design really should be an engineered one. There are CAD companies that sell designs for implements and maybe one of them has a loader design for the Cub. An alternative is to copy something that's already in use.

Unfortunately the substitute bucket likely would be an out for the CS folks and not much could be done except argue with the bucket manufacture or that the bucket was within recommended NH specs. It'd likely be a tough argument unless either the bucket manufacturer or NH specifically approved it for use on the tractor. Too bad but the ordinary person seems to get caught in the middle often in modern times. Even if the use always was entirely responsible you'd still have to win an argument and probably without documentation. Well, maybe the bucket manufacturer could argue with NH.

Some problems with an argument is that a 4n1 bucket can be used for digging, and using the dozer blade could produce some unusual stresses especially in turns or when hitting things. Tooth bars also could end up in warranty 'never never land.' Regarding the weight, a NH loader valve likely has circuit relief valve that are intended to provide protection against load shocks, but reliefs do have cracking time. I wouldn't know if reliefs would be adequate protection against big loader weight combined with big 3ph ballast weights at speed on rough ground. It'd be a murky argument at best.

I think the best approach is to recognize that it's an unfortunate circumstance that maybe NH would like to help with under the heading of customer good will.

Sgt: G'day and how are ya now, as it is said around here. Greetings are appreciated. I'm from the Upper Ottawa Valley, about 3 hours west of Ottawa the city and in the serious country. I visited a school chum in Clifton Springs once (sort of in your neck of the woods) and it's a good-looking region.

Geography does get confusing and places don't seem so far apart on a map. We have Ottawa the city and Ottawa the river, which joins the St. Lawrence at Montreal. The river is my place. Well, it gets more confusing since near Ottawa the city is the Mississippi River. Blink your eyes and you might think you're making real good time.

Now that's a good outcome. I usually think of using additives in old engines that sat around for a long while. Can't knock what ever works though.

The subject hasn't come up here recently. There should be several good discussions in the archives. The basic key is that the equipment is expensive and it has to be kept busy to make any money, which is a little tough unless there's a ready to go customer base. Rent or leasing also is expensive. Maintenance and insurance budgets kill many start-up ideas.

Could be pretty easy or maybe not--there's no way to tell without a manual or knowing the SS. I wouldn't tackle any tear down without a manual. Wish I could be of some help. If the SS is one of the old Ford Industrials, you might find somebody who has worked on them on the Ford Board at Yesterday's Tractors. Dang, hate making referrals from here.

Tim; Welcome to the world of compacts. As most anyone else who has read my posts here will tell you I've allways preached, find a dealer you're comfortable with first. Find out how long they've been in business, usually a dealer that also sells ag equipment in a smaller community will be more concerned for their customer than the big city garden center type dealer, and also have better prices. I've tried a couple times to deal with the big city places and they were allways much higher priced. Any of the big three, Kubota, Deere, or Ford NH have good equipment. I'd be a little shy of lesser known brands with a scant dealer network. Nothing at all wrong with buying used, but there again a good dealer that will put some warranty on the tractor is worth a lot. Buying private is fine too unless problems develop with the tractor then strained relationships can result. Far as my recommendation on the tractor and the price, others with more knowledge on used tractor prices would do better than me, but long as you stick with one of the big three your tractor wiil hold it's resail value should you decide down the road to move to a bigger unit. You have pretty much what your going to need. First,prep your soil with a $40.00 a day rear tine tiller. Once accomplished,determine and mark your waterlines. This will save time and possibaly get away with renting 1/2 day ditchwitch.Mark areas that may need the boxblade, rippers down. Tractor for the big stuff. Once done, turn rippers up on boxblade and smooth a soft prepped soil that you just readied for seeding and a new sprinkler system installed at the same time.

My dealer folded prior to my warr coming do...nice timing...I have been dealing with New Holland North America, and a local dealer who has been nice enough to take up my cause...but thing is..NO ONE will LOOK at it...they have taken the word of local tractor mechanics....???? as this would fuel my lawsuit obviously...subpoena's for their own people..wouldnt that look good in court...anyhow..as of late, the customer service guy I dealt with has been let go, and a new person is looking over my case...but they have still not told my delaer that they will not fix the tractor...just me...and we go on!!!! Thanks for the support.

$none that i know of. All that it does is supply one end or the other of the actual cyl. with a certain amount of fluid in regards to the direction and distance the steering wheel is turned. This type of steering is called hydrostatic steering, because there is no linkage connecting the steering wheel to the steering rods. Then there is hydraulic assist steering. That type has an actual linkage connecting the steering wheel to the steering rods. Some where in the system depending on manufacturer there is one or two hyd. cyl. they are controlled by a servo in the steering box that it will direct fluid in one direction or the other depending on which direction you turn the wheel. It dose this by either raising or lowering the servo just a few fractions of an inch just by the force exerted against it by the steering column normally right turns will force it down and left turns will bring it up. this system is rarely used any longer. i do have hydrostatic pictures and diagrams at work but i do not have a scanner to get them on the comp.
