Long's are pretty good durable tractors. I don't know who made that particular tractor. The current Long FWD are made in Korea. There are some good tractors coming out of Korea.

I can't tell you if the whine you hear is normal or not, but HSTs do have a tendency to whine and it's fairly common.

I have a Massey Ferguson 1020 Gear 4 WD Tractor w/ 1014 loader. It looses power, like being under a load and stalls, after I run it for over an hour doing work. Starts fine, idles a little ruff (could possibly use a tune up).<br>

But when it gets warmed up, about an hour of work. The power dies off and it wants to stall at idle. No temp lights or any other signs.<br>
<br>
Is it an oil pressure problem? Hydrolics? Or do I have a stuck valve / need a tune up and engine check? Or is it the start of something major?<br>

I have a L3130, with a LA723, and started to have problems with my FEL value binding. Two weeks ago it stopped working while was moving a full bucket of LARGE stones. Luckily know one was around. Turned out the one of the control valve links broke in half, and the other cracked right where the safety lock pin goes. Took the pieces to my dealer and they never seen that happen before. After taking apart a new valve assembly we found the linkage, that broke, was redesigned (beefier). They replaced the linkage under warranty.

Only rear wheels driving in both positions. 150 hours, and 4wd was working before. I saw the lever is attached with a set screw at the tranny, I'm going to go and see if the lever moved on the shaft. Otherwise, I thought I'd post now in case I can't get it to work and someone has a solution.

Check with a dealer, but i don't think they do. Plus when buying used ROP you should get them recerified by dealer, they might be for sale since the guy rolled his tractor and replaced them. You never know. Or it could because he bought a backhoe and need the folding type of ROP.

as art said we have also sold alot of those units and have not heard of any problems like that. the stearing in those units and most any unit poduced today a a hydostacic stearing systmem. and in my experience the cyl. is usually not the problem but rather the stearing unit it self. but every situation is different and with out haveing the tractor in front of me i'm not going to try and make a diagnosis.

wow that is pretty cheep do you know the demenions of the cyl. for that price i would be interested in quite a few. the cheapest cyl we sell at our store is $150 and that is a 1"x8"

The TC29 is a great tractor, but I think you are looking at an elephant gun to shoot rabbits. You will be very pleasantly surprised by the performance of the TC24, it has a compact frame but plenty of power, will turn much tighter, fit into place the TC29 won't go, and will do what you need done just a bit slower than the TC29.

I was trying to find a copy of a news story on this subject to post here but it's gone now, too old I guess.

The facts of the story are like this;

A guy gets drunk at a local watering hole one Friday night this past fall near my cottage. In his drunken stupor he wobbles over to his pickup and climbs in heading for home in the wee hours of the morning. About 5 miles north of town he runs into a guy, literally, who is parking his truck to go back into the bush to his deer stand.

The hunter calls the police to report the hit & run from his cell. He is badly shaken but OK. His truck is not so well, the box is pushed in about 2 feet and the front end is demo'd from stopping against a rock wall on the side of the road.

The police search high & low for this guy figuring he couldn't have made it very far with a heavily damaged vehicle himself. A couple hours after sun-up his truck was spotted in a field off a side road.

The driver was found DEAD in the bush beyond the truck, he had apparently suffered internal injuries in the crash. It turns out the field was a mile or so from his home and they figure he was going to walk home, sleep it off then get up the next morning and report the truck stolen. He must have collapsed part way there and with nobody to help him he died before he was found.

Justice?, maybe.

BTW, the bar that allowed the deceased to a) get drunk, and b) leave drunk, paid for a NEW truck for the hunter provided he did not sue them.

Hi. Just wanted to get some advice from John Deere owners. I'm trying to decide between a JD870 (1400 hrs, $8500) and a JD2630 (3800 hrs, $10,500). Mostly doing brush clearing, manure moving, some shredding. We live on sandy soil, so the 870's 4wd would be nice; but 2630 is more substantial. Currently have Ford NAA. Looking for something more reliable and less likely to get stuck in sand.<br>
