I'm in a similar situation considering to replace several of my Cub's. Prices may vary with the area that you are in as well as the equipment/accessories (i.e. like the size of deck, etc.)

If you know a Case/International dealer in your area that sells cadets, I'm sure he would be happy to give you a trade in price as well as a private sale price if he has the opportunity to quote a new unit to you. If it was purchased at TSC or one of the other chain outlets, they don't deal with used equipment.

The problems with selling used equipment is that now so many new inexpensive units are available the resale value has dropped substantially unless you have a hydrostat (sorry I'm not familar with your model), or in my case power lift and power steering since new ones are really expensive these days with those options.

Recommend that you go to the NYCTO association board and review the latest posts there re: the steering and the loader problem as discussed by a loader manufacturer. Your problem can be fixed. The 300 series Jinmas have one pump for the power steering and another for the hydraulics. Do not place counter-balance on the 3pt till the problem is fixed as this will further the load on the hydraulic pump. Have fun.

I have a BX1800 and the power steering started having problems at about 50 hours. It was getting so bad that when I drove it on the road the tractor was swaying back and forth. I finally just lost the power steering all togehter and had to bring it into the dealer. They have to change the whole power steering system. Luckly, it was still under warrenty by 1 week.

Murf - Thats a great piont! I should have thought of osha. I think I will call them today. I have a friend that works there. I have an appiotnment with a kubota dealer to get a trade in figure on my lemmon, i mean deere. We'll see how it turns out.

I don't know how they have it equipped but The L-3130HST with industrial tires retails for 17536 with no options. The LA723 loader is 3307 and depending on the valves 603 and the bucket at 590 getting started. The BH 90 is 7100 and 666 for an 18" bucket. There might besome different options not mentioned or a HD bucket or QT used that I didn't price. There are two loaders available and I did use the heavy one.

I just went out to the garage to check how mine works. Seems like the steering wheel turns when the tractor is off, and moves the front wheels as well. It is pretty hard to turn, and if you turn it quickly it clicks. Hope this helps. T

Have you kept up with any Whizzer info?
My dad has one that he got when he was a kid. We rebuilt it when I was a kid back about 25 or 30 years ago. We had a great time tearing into the little engine, trying to find parts and correct paint. It looked absolutely show romm when we got done. My dad has it in Florida now and its still in good shape but doesnt run now for some reason.

I don't know about price, but if it is more than about $100 it's too much. It is just a small cylinder with a couple of brackets to expand the joint between two moving parts, creating the down force. The cylinder looks remarkably like the ones used to lift the snowplow on a pickup truck, I know from experience they are $50 retail.

Good advice from Bill and Tom. If you don't have one, get a compression tester. If memory serves, you should have between 75 and 90 pounds of pressure.

Ford cams are gear driven so they shouldn't slip a tooth easily. You can take the side panel off (two bolts) to view the valve train. Maybe a valve is stuck open.

It's not unusual for a small diesel engine to run for a few minutes then die again after air got into the feul system. It may take 15 minutes of fast idle to completely purge all the air out of the injection system.

If you need to use an aid to get it to start just use WD-40, do NOT use starting fluid (ether), it is too volatile and can damage the engine.

You don't say how bad the old filter looked, but if it was very dirty it is possible there is debris elsewhere clogging the system. Take a flashlight and look at the bottom of the tank, that's usually a good place to start, if there is visible debris and or water clean it out, you don't want either going anywhere into the sytem.

My dealer's service technician said their is an adjustment for the switches. Mine has problems with the interlock at the rear PTO. I've never looked where the switch is. It is getting worse, so I need to do something soon.

I think there are several interlocks, another at the shifter to insure you are in neutral.

For safety reasons, I wouldn't disconnect the rear PTO safety switch. I have a farm upbringing and can remember allot of old guys in the neighborhood with missing arms and fingers from tangleing with PTO shafts.

Unless you want (need) the lawn to look like a putting green I don't see why you couldn't use a bush-hog to cut the lawn. A lot of rural properties around here are maintained that way. If the blades are sharp, it's set up properly and the ground is pretty flat it will do a very respectable job.

No, you will not like cutting a pasture with a finish mower, besides, as has already been mentioned, a bush-hog is a LOT less money.

The other option is to buy a flail (Mott) type mower with a continous tail roller, it will cutr the pasture just fine, but watch out for the rocks, and will make your lawn look terrific. It is a lot more money than a bush-hog, but less than buying a bush-hog AND a finish mower.

That sounds about right. I do keep my 1710 (similar to a TC29) because there is on-going work that a smaller tractor couldn't manage well. However, the 1710 wouldn't be great for moving because we have a lot of landscaping and out buildings. It would take too long to maneuver and leave too much trimming. I use a riding mower.

A smaller tractor might be generally more busy, but when I need the size and power I really need it and getting contractors to come to the deep country is a little irregular sometimes.

Depending on the land, I'd take care not to create grade with those paths that will cause erosion, because then there'd be lots of maintenance to do.

That site advertises a M602 for $2,700 but doesn't say much about condition or equipment. This is the first one I've found but will keep looking. I sort of "inherited" my old tractor; it runs sweet but needs lots of TLC and knowledge; I'm mostly just a "small acreage home owner", semi-retired, and don't want to spend the hours needed to make it special.
