Last weekend I had to take my TC33 to get my new hoe installed, a trip of about 120 miles. Normally this would be no problem since I have a new F250 and a trailer. When I told my wife I was going (to my suprize) she said she thought It would be a nice ride and wanteed to go as well as bring the children. I can't fit 4 of us in my pick-up so I had to use my wifes 03 Expedition. I was a little concerned because the weight would be over 7000lbs and the new Expedition was a little smaller than her previous 2000 model, but this thing was awesome I could not even tell I was pulling anything. I think it even towed better than the F250. This is her third expedition 97,00,03 and this is definately better than the previous two. Ford got it right this time.

Unless you always get real 'powder' snow, a 68" blower is way too much for 17PTOHP. I use a 64" blower with 24PTOHP, and I can say I'm glad I have HST because when it drifts I have to go very slowly.

That drift is considered normal. Actually something like a foot an hour is considered to be within specs, although that would be more than I could stand.

I get noticeably more drift in warmer weather. So I am experimenting with HyGard (instead of Low Vis) and the increased viscosity seems to help slow the drift, but just a bit.

As an aside, both 410 loaders I have owned have had "the drift" while the 3 points (on a 4100 and a 4115) have been rock solid.

In contrast, I had a BX that had zero loader drift but the 3 point drooped while it was parked. Go figure.

I have a 6x4 diesel and recently I noticed that my headlights and tipping bed stopped working. The engine started and run fine but, I was unable to check the engine as I cant lift the bed. The battery ran down afterwards so I do believe that there is something wrong with the alternator. Does anyone know how to lift the bed without the electric lift?<br>

454, after rereading your post, I see you said you were getting the largest FEL NOT the widest. The 723 loader is a good choice. Think about extra ballast or you will probably be disappointed in its ability to dig. You'll have a nice machine.

Small for the tractor is good in a 3ph-mount hoe and also ensuring it won't compromise warranty coverage.

I have a mild 6' 3ph hoe for my 2,500 lbs. tractor. It has worked just fine over 5 years for my occasional needs. The downside of a small hoe is that the tractor has to be moved very frequently for trenching 4' and deeper. It takes a bunch of time and I'd call them undesirable for significant lengths of 5' or deeper trenches.

My hoe has been a good match between my needs and my budget and I'd do it again, but I do consciously take it easy with the hoe. No heavy root breaking or rock levering in trenches. No digging in hard soil (it's sandy here) with the hoe stretched out. Digging forces create high top-link compression and a stretched out hoe magnifies those forces. With a small 3ph hoe, it's tempting to stretch it out so the tractor has to be moved less frequently, but just don't do it unless it's a really soft dig. 3ph hoes can work out OK but the limitations and risks should be understood

You are 152% correct and win the prize. It also comes down to "I got my money now you go get yours while you pay more taxes to pay my medical bills". I have NEVER met a retired person who didn't think the goverment should pay 100% of his medical bills and drugs so people would not have to pay out of their own fat rich check books.

For example. I have a friend of mine's 102 year old grandmother just got a hip replacement paid for 100% by my tax dollars without her ever touching her 1.6 million checkbook dollars she got for selling some road right of way property to the goverment. I don't work my butt off to pay social security taxes for other rich people's medical bills. Did you ever wonder why a 102 year old EVEN NEEDS a new hip anyway???? If people in my age group bitch, we are called insensitive and compared to the money grubbing Republicans. There is no political party, when you see you hard earned wages going to somebody else, knowing that you will never see any benefits. The goverment pays for these expenses because the Liberal democratic Senators and congressman in Michigan, that are elected to office, wouldn't have 150,000 per year jobs. So they take my SS dollar and pay off the "old folks" medical bills and drugs to get their votes. I will never see any benefits like the ones the old folks are getting today because there won't be enought people working and paying taxes to pay my medical bills. That is FACT.

The only difference between a campaign contribution and a bribe is one happens AFTER the election. OLd people America is being bribed with overgenerous medical benefits. I wonder if my tax dollar is being used for Viagra??? Probably is!!!! The taxpayer is responsible for the old men's woody.

Not a good story and I hope CS comes up with a remedy. I haven't heard of this type of problem with NH before--nor the broken TC cases also discussed here for that matter.

If the problem is wrong torque on the rod bolts that's an issue that to me goes outside of normal warranty coverage. It is not a manufacturing defect. It might be thought of as negligence during assembly. I'd make a solid documented case that the engines were delivered improperly assembled (although that might be tough to do),that required maintenance was performed and that operation was within recommended limits.

I might make noises about 'alternative action' if CS comes on rigid about warranty coverage. I'd also keep this Board informed. The Board played a role in getting JD over its denial of 4000-series axle problems some years back.

um i would leave the oil in and then change it AFTER storage, since condensation, etc. will occur while it sits so you will slightly contaminate your brand new oil for nothing. unless of course you plan on doing both changes, in that case go for it.<br>

ps break-in oil is designed to allow things to wear in properly when new/rebuilt as nowadays has additives to facilitate this, where as after break-in of course we want as little wear as possible which is what regular oil is designed for. i believe it is usually thinner as well, i think years ago 10w was a common break-in oil.

We're a bit behind you guys. Some snow still in the yard and enough in the bush to make walking difficult. Well, it won't be long. We had our first shirtsleeves day yesterday and our first thunder storm right now. Birds are on track and soon the frogs will start sounding like a sci-fi sound track.

First thing though is for the ground to thaw and dry enough to work the compost pit. Our neighbour made a haystack on top of his well head to keep it from freezing and I'd sure like to add it to the compost.

I sure think it's worth a call to NH Customer Service just to see how rigid their warranty policy is. There's an 800 number on their site.

My pitch to them would be along the lines that it's a relatively new tractor that received only normal use with implements within specs (I'm assuming the mower is within rate capabilities).

Granted, warranties are to cover manufacturing defects but this is a major failure, and cases are't rotating components. It seems reasonable to expect cases to last indefinitely in normal use and perhaps cases should be given different warranty protection than engines and drive trains or accommodation made for owners who experience premature failure. The situation as described most certainly is an extreme premature failure. You might mention that discussion is continuing on this Board.

Escorts in India had produced tractors for Ford since 1969 and ended up acquiring Ford's Stake as part of Ford's selloff to Fiat (New Holland). Escorts is a Billion dollar company. These tractors are manufactured in a state of the art facility which has been completely retooled with the capacity to produce 72000 tractors per year (2 shifts). Farmtrac is the brand name of the tractors.

Recently the company has acquired controlling interest in LongAgribusiness, and their plant in Tarboro NC.
The Farmtrac utility tractor range starts with the FT-35 at around $9K and includes the 45, 60, 70, and 80 models, the last two feature Carrero 12x12 shuttle shifts and flat open platform designs. 4WD versions start arriving in the next few weeks.

As a side note, the factory offers brand new replacement engines for repowereing Ford models direct bolt in kit.

Wow, that's pretty bad. That's also the first bad thing that I have heard about JD machines. I HAVE heard that alot of JD dealers arrogant and beat around the bush when you have a problem. The two in my area seem okay, but then again I don;t have a tractor from them to have problems with to need to deal with the dealer. 'm sure every brand seems okay before the purchase, but after you buy it, it could be a hole different story.

I would change the oil now but use a good diesel rated petroleum oil for the next couple of changes before switching to synthetic. at 25 hours I do not belive the engine is completely broken in yet. It is probably the equivelint of 1500-2000 miles of driving, may be too soon for the extra slippery stuff I think.
