I would drain the oil and let it sit all night. Then a thorough de-greasing and a JB Weld patch should make it good as new.

I would worry though..... if the pan rusted through some of the steering components might be in trouble too. A real good underbody inspection might be in order

I am not sure what weed they are growing and smoking in MD but in my travels I have not found any difference in resale between the JD and the NH CUT. There my be a difference at the dealer for a trade, but on private sales if anything the NH has higher resale. If you are unsure a search through the TP classified should be pretty representative. As we mention on the other post the TC 35 is closer to the JD4410 interms of power.

Wow, that's alot of implements! I see what you mean about parts and mergers. Many people say that NH is Ford, but I think that Ford's tractor division was bought by FIAT and were not allowed to keep the name on Ford on the tractors. I think I read something like that on a NH webpage. I could be wrong.

This was my first week back to the aerospace grind after my surgery, I haven't done any landscaping yet and the customers are ringing the phone way too frequently. After the rain stopped yesterday, we had some sun. Today, we had 70 degrees and sun. Our vernal ponds have come alive, the peepers are singing for a hot date, the eagles and hawks have taken to nest - can the crickets be far away? Its great to be alive and part of it all!

Hi Billy, very interesting, but more common than you might think. For some reason, maybe its because when we get really old, what was once important to us loses its value. My Grandfather, the dairy farmer, was a Deere man from the word go. He had a water cooled horizontal magneto sparked Deere circular saw that he used mostly to cut up logs. The blade was turned by a flat belt, the engine really lived up to the "Johnny Popper" name. He loved it, until chain saws made their arrival, then the once often used saw went behind the barn - for thirty years. During that time, the solid steel wheels rusted where they touched the ground, trees grew through the wooden frame, which rotted, and around the engine. The whole thing sat neglected until he "discovered" it in his very old age, about $300 and more than a year later we restored to its past glory. Regardless, I never got over the way the trees grew through and around the entire machine! Thanks for the photo, it sparked fond memories.

There was an article that was brought up awhile back dealing with some vehicles that synthetic was so slick it didn't allow the rings to seat properly. I can't remember where I read it though. It recommended not using it until the engine was broke in.

If you have the Chinese oil in it I would change it. I changed mine at 25 and after seeing it I would have changed it immediately if I had known. That was true for the transmission and hydraulic fluid also.

Ya, I've already got a spring but it is too weak. I need to put a heavier compression spring on it with a threaded rod going through the center with a cap to adjust. I've had the pulverizer about 3-4 years now and don't use it much. All I need is time to fix it. Am short on that!!

Are your rear tires loaded? If they are, loaded tires and a box blade seems to ballast me fine. My box blade weighs about 400lbs.

First of all Mike, WELCOME, there's quite a few pilots here, I'm sure you will feel right at home here.

Next thing, your questions, co-related to your numbering;

1. Yes, is it worth it for a small 2wd machine, questionable.

2. No. Unless you are an engineering wizz, with your own machine shop and count your time at $0 per hour.

3. Yes, Kubota fluid IS special, it has a pretty Kubota logo on the package and costs somewhere between 30-200% more than the comparable 'industry standard' fluid. Seriously, anything that meets the minimum spec. is just fine.

4. Ditto above. If your concerned there are parts available for delivery, ordered online. See "www.tractorsmart.com" and others.

5. You're at it. Enjoy.

well guys i now have 30 hrs on the tractor. its taken every thing i have thrown at her!!! moving 30 yrds of top soil,<br>
leveling a 1/3 of an acre with the box scraper. excavating 12 yrds of dirt,clay and rock to form a garden, and mowing 2 acres of grass what a machine thanks for the recommendation!!!<br>

I dunno. This is a case where the dealer makes the difference.

In billy_r's case the dealer should go to bat for him and deal with NH. If NH won't deal with it then at least there should be a clear explanation of why (if they claim it's abuse they should back it up). If NH won't do anything then a good dealer would either eat the expense your meet you part way.

I've read a few instances of Kubota denying in-warranty claims for seemingly BS reasons as well. In these cases the dealer can make a huge difference.

You definitely said a mouthful there. Seat time is FUN! I'm not using this piece of equipment to make a living, thus I'm not worried about how "fast" I can do something. I'm just afraid I'll buy the 3430 and realize 4 months later that there is an attachment "x" that would do EXACTLY something I need to do but it requires more HP. I know I won't be using big farm equipment, but do want the flexibility of using a wide array of attachments (chippers, concrete mixers, generators, brush mowers, finishing mowers, tillers, box blades, etc.). Also, I was told that my tractor won't have enough HP for a 72" tiller, which I'll need to cover the tracks adequately with R4 tires. *This* is the kind of thing I don't want to discover after the fact. (But from other posts on here I'd think the 3430 could run a 72" tiller just fine).

thanks for the reply...I bought the tractor used and the front loader had a coating of concrete inside..the tractor just does not move when engaged in gear. Everything else works well...the pto...front loader...engine...my guess is that the tractor was abused therefore the cheap price....You get what you pay for....With a little tender care she will be up and chugging away in a few days...I'm retired and do not mind tinkering....

I'll throw in one more comment regarding dealers. The old adage that you are better off selling yourself seems to apply to tractors even more so than cars. I bought a cherry 800 hour 2240 JD around six years ago for $7500. All the dealers at the time told me it was worth $5000 max even though every 2240 I saw advertised in the market bulletin, epuipment trader, etc. was at least $7k. Most were in the 8 - 8.5K range.
Last spring, my father-in-law wanted to trade his fairly nice 8N on a more modern tractor, and the dealer offered $1000. A decent 8N will bring $2500 or so all day long in these parts. In fact that's what he got for it a few days after he parked it in front of his house with a for sale sign on it.

I own the same tractor and bought the manuals from the fellow that is replying. They are excellent manuals. I bought mine before my tractor got sick. I will say mine will not shut off some times. I to live in Florida and Napa parts stores carry allot of parts that will match up.
Or you can get things rebuilt instead of replacing.

One additional check I would make is for loose bolts(wheels, loader frame). Though the manuals usually say to check them at 50hours, there is often so much paint between the metal surfaces they can become quite loose before that time, and checking them several times before 50 hours is a good idea.
You should also check the tires pressure too, especially if the temperature varies a lot, to see if they are within specs.
I check engine oil and hydraulic fluid levels, walk around eyeball check the chains, tires, 3PH, loader frame, and the floor (leaks) each day I use the tractor. Grease the loader every 8 hours, it's expensive to rebuild one.
Takes maybe 2 minutes so it's cheap insurance. If I was mowing or in dusty conditions I might add the radiator screen and air filter(s) to the list, but experience has shown for my use the 50 hour schedule is fine.
