JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST TRACTOR AND HAD A QUESTION, HOW MUCH SHOULD I BE ABLE TO LIFT WITH THE LOADER? I GOT A 97' JD 955 320 HRS, #70A FEL, 60" JD MMM, 60" JD BRUSH HOG, 6FT JD BACK BLADE, 3 PH BALLAST BOX, AND WHEEL WIEGHTS. ALL FOR $14,OOO.

wed have 45 acres, mostly forest.
I have a lot of brush hogging to do in various locations.
I need to set fence posts.
We love to garden.
Some driveway maintenance.
A little sand a dirt spreading, manure moving etc.
I am thinking about the 3130 or 3430 hst with loader and perhaps the enclosed cab.

After 2 years and 205 hours my only complaint on my DK 35 so far has been the bucket roll back power of the KL1450 loader.
I made new bucket linkage and raised the bucket pins up 3", seems better now !!
The tractor has been absolutely FLAWLESS !!

Picked up a used $250 iseki tiller from gray market dealer. 3pt attachment needs to be be fabricated in order to work.

Sure it's safe to change the oil at 25 hours but I wouldn't advise putting synthetic in so early. If it were mine I'd run regular dino oil in it until 100 hours or so.

Hi,

Thanks for all the input, very useful. I have taken a look at the project at hand, and noticed that the vertical bars are not exactly parallel, which would make the hinge gemotery a bit of a pain to set up, and more time than I want to spend. So, I am moving to Plan B: Which is just lower the horizontal bar to the ideal height, (about 6" lower) and weld in a new bar with gussets, basically matching the former arrangement.

As for safety, the concerns mention are good ones, as my wife and others spend time in the seat want to keep all safe. The scope of work involved here is similiar to projects at work, and think when complete would be hard to notice a difference unless side by side a similiar model.

I just picked up a Olathe # 12P.T.O. chipper and was wondering if any body had any experience with one, It is a very heavy duty unit almost 1000 lbs. I have to add weight to my Fergusen 30's front end to keep it down, It will chip 7" round and 11" slab wood. This company was still around in the 90's but I can't seem to find any info on them now,they probably have gone out of business. Appreciate any info anyone has.

Is this a new tractor? if so break it in first. make sure it is up to operating RPM because it keeps the Tranny fluid cool. Use low range when mowing/ETC uphill or let up on the pedal a bit it is not an accelerator its an infinate gear selector pedal. Everybody thats driven my grand L said "I pushed on the pedal and it seams like it bogged a little going up hill in high range". After it was explained to them to chill out on the HST pedal it worked just fine... also it has more power now that its broken in.

Your friend may have experience with the larger New Hollands. From my discussions with excavators and tractor mechanics I think the NH555 and newer NH655 which are based on the older Ford are hard to beat. I am not sure the smaller CUT carry the excavator as well. I would look throught the posts there have been some reports of mechanical failures.
From all discussions the Kubota L21-L35-L48 are hard to beat in the compact hoes. I am not sure how the grand L matches up as I have not seen a grand L with hoe. I suspect that they have retained some of the features of the TLB series. You need Murf and Art Whites opinions as they have exerience with both models.

Again, make sure you compare apples to apples. What guage steel is the RFM, blade material, anti-scalp wheels & rollers, blade tip speed, gearbox, safety shielding & other safety protections, etc. I think once you compare the MMM features with an RFM mower with that same or very similar features; you will again go into sticker shock. You would have a coronary if you priced a John Deere 7 Iron 72" MMM, but they are built to last and the heaviest built in the industry using a one piece 7 guage stamping for the mower. Your preferences and cost considerations will be the final judge. Both types make a nice cut but have their pro's and cons.

Hey Ted, look at pic #6. This tree is off the patio of our bedroom. You can see part of a wagon wheel that the oak has grown around. The axle is sticking out the other side. The other wheel used to be attached but I guess mother nature took it's toll.

The New Holland Technical Rep does not want to look at it. Just said it is out of warranty. The casting is broken in the middle not at bolt holes. I think this must have happened before or New Holland Technical Rep would want to look at it. Must be a weak link.

There must be a big difference between calcium chloride and sodium chloride if the DOT considers it a hazerdous material in high concentrations. You should see the way they dump the salt on the roads around here. Rots your rims from the outside in, along with everything else it touches. You get the opportunity to watch it happen.

I just purchased a JD 2210. I would like to know when the tractor was manufactured. I sent John Deere the Serial Number from the side of the frame and I got the following reply... If anyone knows how, could they please let me know who to contact or what to do.<br>
