I was at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville,KY back in February, looked at some new FarmTrac T-series tractors (T-35?). These look a lot like a 1970's/1980's model Ford New Holland 2000/3000 series right down to the dark blue paint. Are these based on a Ford design or perhaps they are old Ford designs built under license ?? Where are the sourced from?? Who makes/designs the engines and transmissions for these tractors ??? Any opinions on if these would be a good alternative to say a new Case DX33 or NH TC-33 type compact tractor?<br>

One thing I have not been able to locate is pricing info for these units...anyone out there know what these cost?<br>

I just purchased an JD2210 with a 62 mmm and loader w/53 bucket. I have 1.6 hours on it and noticed when the engine is not running the steering wheel will turn freely clockwise making a pumping/clicking noise but it will not turn counterclockwise� without the front wheels turning. After starting the engine the steering works fine. I called my dealer and they said that it should not be doing that and that they would look at it next week. I was curious to see if there is anyone else out there with the same problem� Thanks, TOM

I have a B7500 and the only thing in really don't like is the 3pt hitch control. The foot controls are a good thing, so you don't hit the wrong petal when watching the 3pt. The engine still will be running after the tractor falls apart, were as the JD engine will fall apart 1st. If the B7500 had postion control its would beat the JD hands down. If Deere still built them like they used to they would win.

I would not want to recommend exceeding the listed limits of the tractor, but going up-hill will probably cause the same situation you had mowing. The tractor will come to a stop when you exceed the pressure relief of the hydrostat, or you will loose traction. Make sure you are in low gear. Be VERY carefull coming back down a slope with a towed load. With the weight of the trailer, you could loose control of the tractor. I would recommend backing the trailer down the slope and only towing from the drawbar, not from a hitch on the 3-point. The drawbar will keep the towed load below the back axle. We pulled an 8N off the neighbor two years ago when he attempted a tow off the three point. The torque of the tractor brought the machine over on him.

I installed a Rhino Loader on my LB1914 and am using a Control Valve from a LK3054 tractor. Since, the instructions are for the LK3054, they don't show a picture of the LB1914 hydraulic manifold for proper hook-up. If anyone has a copy of instructions for hooking a control valve to the LB1914 hydraulic manifold, I could use them. Or, explain what each port on the LB1914 hydraulic manifold is for (with pictures, preferably). Thanks

When purchasing a Woods product, from a source other than a Cub Cadet dealer, you would need to order the right sub-frame for your tractor. The backhoes I mentioned can be configured for either 3pt hitch mount, or sub-frame mount (even skid steer). This allows the units to be sold for a variety of applications. As I mentioned, you really need the sub-frame for the Mitsubishi 7000 series units.

If you do buy one of these backhoes, you should also have the front end loader. Why? The Woods manufactured front end loader is designed to mate to the sub-frame, thus transfering loads and stress produced when using the backhoe, past the somewhat delicate joints of bell housing, transfer case, and transmission. The bolts at these locations are prone to stripping if the tractors are used with 3pt hitch backhoes. Should you add the backhoe or not, always check the torque values of your frame bolts periodically.

They're both good quality machines from reputable manufacturers. Good dealer support is quite important, which should be a factor in your decision.<br>

The two tractors you list are sort of like apples and oranges, the NH has 25% more hp and better hydraulics. A more accurate comparison might be between the TC35 and the JD 4410.<br>

If I was given a choice of only these two machines I'd opt for the TC35.

We run the trailer type as Art mentioned, but for different reasons, mostly in our case capacity.

Our units are also not, stricly speaking, vacuums either, they are blowers. The adapter covers the machines discharge chute and then there is a blower unit which forces the debris, now mulched by the blades, into a trailer-mounted bin. In our case we use a second machine to bring empty trailers to the collection machine along the way then hual away the full one. Mind you we also have to do more acreage in an hour than most homeowners need to in a season.

Blowers can develop far more energy than a vacuum can on an equal horsepower comparison, in a homeowner situation this means you can do a LOT more work with the same power.

As for time savings, one machine equipped with a high-velocity 3pth-mounted blower to wind-row the leaves and two machines picking them up and a fourth machine running relay exchanging full trailers for empty ones can clear 6+ acres an hour pretty dependably.

Thanks - I didn't know it was a red NH. Which NH model is it, as my NH dealer is a lot closer than the Case dealer. I seem to remember that the JX was made in Turkey, but the fit and finish looked very good. Glad to hear they are reliable. If you've sold 50 of them, guys must like them.

Wildman, I've heard that the Karwaski 650 is a good bike. All the looks of a late 60's Triumph without the leaks, the electrics or the ticklin' carbs.

I would really love to ride in your area, but I don't have an extra week available to get there and another to get back. :-(

Thanks so much for everyone's input. It seems the finish mower is exactly what I'd like to have. Most people in my area mow fields with a brush mower, but I want to keep mine better-groomed. A finish mower is more expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. I plan on buying a brush mower, too, for cleaning up overgrowth in some areas, but want to use the finish mower on my groomed areas.

One thing mentioned above does raise a question in my mind. Should I buy a "solid" (one-piece) 84" finishing mower, or would I be better off with a two-piece that can conform to curves better? What sizes do they come in? How do they compar in price? Also, I was told to use chains on the finsih mower as opposed to the steel links. From what I read above, I assume this *is* the best way to attach it to the lifting mechanism?
