All very good points, but I'm a bit wary about any "open" mower. We have terrible yellow jacket problems where I live, thus the choice to buy a tractor with a cab. One of the main things I plan to use my tractor for is mowing, and the enclosed operator's area is, in my opinion, a must-have.

Essentially, will I get a pretty good cut with a finishing mower? That's really the bottom line for me. Someone mentioned having to wait for the grass to "stand up" after the tires run over it. Is this really a problem? A used commercial mower would definitely be the "easiest" as far as control and such, but in wide open areas I just don't see it as being a very big issue, anyway. (The only area with trees is the front yard which is tiny compared to the rest of my property).

When I bought my TC35 standard, the swivel seat wasn't offered unless you got the Deluxe model. Looking at the link provided, it looks like the swivel seat would interfere with the aux hyd. lever and the 3pt lever on a standard model.

I own a 7275 cub cadet and want to put on a frame mount backhoe. I've been told by the cub dealer that a PTO mount could tear the tractor in half, so a frame mount seems the way to go. I'd love to find a cub backhoe for it but that seems hard to come by. Anyone know of other types/models that will fit which I can look out for?<br>

Does anyone know if aftermarket telescoping 3 point hitch arms (such as on the Boomer Deluxe 3 pt hitch) are available for a John Deere 790. I am getting tired of wrestling around my implements. I called my dealer and he did not know.<br>

Actually the easiest way to do it is to fill in the low areas and bring them up to where you want then just use a little Round-up and re-seed the whole thing well.

If you use a blade or similar method then you run the risk of stripping too much topsoil off a high spot and not having enough cover, then all you get is weeds there.

You can never have too much topsoil.

My old Ford I only used low range for heavy work like in using a tiller when I wanted to go real real slow. I only have high and low range. I figured low was for using the loader or very heavy mowing.
I found out from a mechanic that they have changed the way the hydrostatic that I used in my 20 yr old Ford to now.
The old Ford low range is a creeper gear. Even with the Ford I never mowed at full speed in high.
He also said that they now have a way to releive pressure on the Hydro if it is pulling too hard and the tractor will stop. So Now I know to use low range. I only have 2 hrs on this unit.

Brian..I mowed once last fall with the 2210. I was concerned about the ag tires but did not notice any problems. I made wide radiius turns and was in 2wd. We'll see this summer how it goes but I don't think the R1's will be trouble..I hope. I'm sure that in 4wd the fronts would gouge the turf regardless of the tire style.

I have not filled my tires and decided not to. The R1's are great in dirt. I took the chains off just before the last big snowfall and did not notice any traction problems blowing snow. I put the chains on after reading that R1's weren't the greatest on snow & ice. I don't plan on putting the chains on next winter based on this experience. And, almost all of my snowblowing has been in 2wd with & without chains. My 2c worth.

I don't have turfs so can't say what the difference would be. My guess is the R1's would be much superior in dirt over turfs.

lever is on left hand fender, pull in back for 2 wheel, forward for 4 wheel. It may move hard if drive shafts are wound up, just drive tractor back and forth about 10 or 12 feet a few times and it should pop right out. Have fun.

MIG will do fine on Aluminum. As you say, training and practice are the keys. Nobody should expect that welding is only about the equipment. You need a spool gun to do a lot of aluminum welding on a MIG system. Otherwise you will spend too much time sorting out kinked wire around the feed rolls when the friction exceeds the column strength of the MIG wire.

I just cannot agree that TIG is the only way to weld aluminum as you said. In some ways, it may be easier to learn, but the proper handling of the filler rod and torch is not as easy as some think. Whichever technique that you choose, MIG or TIG, you have to practice to become an accomplished welder and proper training can shorten the time till you make your first good weld.

A lot of driveshafts for cutters are designed to mount in only one direction. They are designed to be fixed to the cutter's gearbox by a bolt through the coupler and input shaft. If your driveshaft is installed backwards there will be no lock mechanism at the tractor end, just a hole through it.

If you see a hole at the tractor end, take the shaft off and turn it end-for-end. You will have to be sure to line the hole in the coupler up with the hole in the input shaft then put a bolt (it sould have been shipped with the shaft) through the two and tighten it down, a little 'Lock-tite' would be a good idea too.

You are on the right track, but the raatio depends entirely on what the topsoil is like.

It's best to have some sort of analysis done on the topsoil, usually your County Extension Agent will do it, probably for free or close to it.

If it needs anything amending it during the screening process is certainly the easiest.

I just had a backhoe installed on my TC33D and one cool side effect was an increase in leg room. When the backhoe was installed the bracket that holds on the tool box was removed allowing the seat to move all the way back. About the only complaint I had was my knees would hit the dash if I was not careful. Not now I picked up at least 3" to 4" of leg room. It is also easier on and off now too. Now I need some seat time on the hoe not as easy as it looks. I will be digging and filling holes for a while till I get the hang of it.

There are a number of things that would affect the HP rating such as cam grind and advance setting, injectors and injection pump all using the same block. The specifications don't give enough info to guess where the difference is.

Two points to consider;

First of all I think you will find those bolts are 18mm or 19mm not 3/4".

Secondly, are you sure you're not trying to TIGHTEN those blades, most of them are on a LEFT-HANDED thread so they don't come loose in operation.

Just picked up this unit for $800 to go behind my 20hp Cub Cadet 7205. Any idea on where to get owners manual information on this tiller? Specifically, I want to read about setting the slip clutch as well as the chain tension. Will probably call the dealer and see if they can help me over the phone? Any help is appreciated!<br>

Sounds great, didn't know it could be done granular. Can you explain a little further. I thought you needed water to get a "film" applied to the surface. If you spread granular, how do you get the coverage? This is a new concept to me so maybe you can direct me to someplace where I can get some more info. Thanks
