It does depend some what on the efficiency of the compressor but I am sure there is some energy used. The compressor use vertually no energy when off and will kick in when required. With the torque of the diesel I can not tell when the air cuts in on the diesel truck but on smaller cars you can.
From what Murf stated earlier on a post the cab on the Kubota was well thought out and I would guess that the air is likely a high efficiency compressor and uses less power than older ones. If the cost is not great I might go with the extra power to compensate.

I agree but even the good JD dealers I have dealt with had an attitude until they got to know me. In most cases in rural areas they are used to seeing the same repeat customers. When some one new walks in you almost need to beat the bushes to get someone to help you. Some have the attitude that they green paint assures a sale.

Too late, I jumped right on it and went to work. It works very well. It does have a leak. When I parked it for a drink, it had some fluid under it. I need to get under it and figure it out.

Oops! Sorry Peters I can see how my comment may be misconstrued. What I mentioned was a blanket comment made years ago on another board. My impression also is that there are different R4 tread patterns, some of which may be mildly directional. Thank you also for pointing out that many newer wheels are two-piece so the valve-stem issue isn't relevant.

Hope this at least gives the original question a little more information. It also might be said that some people who do a lot of loader work way want a bit more traction in reverse and might reverse R4's on purpose.

If you have a line running from the bottom of the tank then the vapor pressure in the large tank will pressurize the system and allow you to fill the tank. You need the proper fittings and to drain the pressure out of the smaller tank. There a valve at the top of the 25 and 50 lb tanks. You turn the valve with a small screw driver. The danger is over pressurizations as you can over fill the tank if not careful.
Like I said a friend at the end of the road ran butane in all the tractors and there are tanks all over his place like this. Another friend sell propane, home delivery and has is 500 gallon tank set this way.

The pto rotation issue would be good to sort out. I know that a few early Japanese compacts did rotate opposite to most others but I don't know which makes and models. Opposite rotation would make buying pto implements difficult. A related issue is whether it has a standard CAT I hitch.

Grinder, I'd have to think a bit so far as other companies, but two that come to mind right off are Vermeer, they started sometime I think after WW2 building small chain type trenchers for farmers to tile with of which some are still in use, they must have sold a million of them. Now they make large tiling machines, hay balers, etc., and I think they have something to do with the "New Farmalls" now too. The second would be Kinze Mfg. at Williamsburg Ia. John Kinzenbaw quit school at the 8th grade, started a one man weld shop, They maufacture corn planters, grain carts, and I'm not sure what else that are known for their strength and reliability almost world wide now. We are a proud bunch here in Iowa of things that have been acomplished here by one man or one woman with a dream. Altho we all grumble about taxes, etc. etc. The whole USA no matter what state you live in is still a land of opportunity for those who have the desire to go it alone, true stat's tell us that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail within the first two years, we still have the oportunity to try. I sometimes get upset by folks growling that the world owes them a living in a land that still offers opportunity to those with abilitys and the ambition to get ahead. I'd better quit I'm starting to sound like a politician. Frank.

I've never figured out why tillers that use slip clutches don't also have shear bolts in the pto shaft. Seems like a good idea to have a bolt that protects the drive and a clutch that protects the bolt so they don't have to be replaced in the field. Oh yes, I hear that greasing a slip clutch to keep it from rusting is a no no.

Morning Dave. I did write 'series' when I meant 'parallel.' Sorry if that confused the explanation for you or anybody else. This is too long but I don't know how to make it much shorter.

If the tractor has always done this since you've had it there is the possibility of a wrong hook-up. The hook-up would be about the only thing easy to check out.

I think I recall that these tractors do not have a manifold block for auxiliary hookups such as loaders. When people add loaders they usually splice fittings into the high-pressure line that runs to the 3ph. A t-fitting in the high-pressure line where one leg goes to the loader and the other to the 3ph would operate as you describe.

Old farm tractors before power-beyond hydraulics had this type hook-up but used a diverter valve rather than a t-fitting. That gives a choice between 3ph only or loader only operation. A diverter valve that was in the centre may leave both legs partially open and that would be the easy fix.

I'd trace the line from the pump. If you find a block then it has a diverter valve that likely has a slot screw head on its face. That's the valve control and it should be fully one way or the other. If the line goes to a t-fitting then the hook-up needs to be redone. If the line goes to the loader valve inlet and the outlet continues on to the 3ph then the problem is likely the loader valve.

A standard hook-up for the open centered system on the tractor is to have the loader valve in series and ahead of the 3ph. That is called a power-beyond application and the valve is supposed to be power-beyond rated. A single return port valve may or may not be PB rated and that may be the problem. A valve that isn't PB rated used in this type setup is risky and should be replaced whether it caused the immediate problem or not.

A hydraulics shop should be able to identify the valve and know if it's appropriate for the application, and if it's broken know if it can be rebuild or needs replacing.

Being a dip stick my self this should be an easy problem. I would think it is on the lower right had side of the engine below the hood. The new tractors the handle looks like a knob rather than a normal loop.

remember he has a 286 which is quite a large and heavy mower, the 5 foot mower will barly cover you tire tracs the tc 40 can handel a 72 inch brush cuttler with little difficuly. yes a fel will help balast but wieghts are the bet choice. the 16la tends not to stay in the air which a cording to nh is aceptable at a rate of a couple inches per a cetaine amout of time. so you will be lifting the loader alot when mowing which can get annmoying.

It is a problem as tractors have so much low end torque that you do not necessarily know that the brakes are on. My diesel truck has the same problem. I can easily move it with the parking brakes engaged. I hope that you have not broken a pad or something inside. I would check your external linkage and then determine what you have to do inside. Can you see if it is only one side or both?

I used it in my '95 Dodge Ram with a 360 with excellent results. At -10 degrees in a Michigan winter and having sat overnight it started up like it was 80 degrees out! Here in SE Michigan it seemed veryone was selling AmsOil. But now I can buy it off the shelf at my local autoparts called "Murrays"

Harley is a brand of power rake sometimes called a soil conditioner or preparator. I have one for my TC33D that is 6' wide--it takes a fair amount of HP to use it effectively. The principle is simple: the rotating drum has carbide teeth on them staggered in a several spirals--this way HP is transferred to just a few teeth in contact with the ground rather than a straight line of teeth which would cause jumping and use more HP. Depending on how low/deep the drum sits in the ground as it pulled forward in the highest position it can remove grass and weeds at their roots and throw them forward or to the side in a windrow (if tilted to one side or the other like a scraper blade). In the deepest postion it will take 8" deep solid dry clay and fluff it up in one pass (one, SLOW pass!). In any position--high or low--if it encounters a rock or brick it will literally roll it out of the ground and keep rolling it until it trails off or windrows or falls in a low spot. I use mine to rototill my garden (deep position), and to regrade my .7 mile gravel road in the medium-high position (about 1-1/2" deep).
