If you are too light the rear tires will come off the ground! Properly adjusted relief valves shouldn't allow you to lift more than the loader is rated for. Following the manufacturer ballast requirements will generally keep you safe, but you have to remember to keep the bucket low when moving.

I can't say for sure how long they (Dong Feng and Kama) have been around but it has been a while. At least 8 years to my knowledge. Both are solid China tractor companies and their market share goes up every year. I own one of the other China tractors(Jinma) and heve no problem with support and or parts availability. Jinma goes from the 18 up to the 35 HP range and Dong Feng and Kama are in the larger hp ranges. Each has its niche in the market. I don't see either/any of them going anywhere except increased market share. 2 dealers I would recommend are Glenn from Coastal tractor and Chip Uren from Artrac. Each deals with several China brands. I personally purchased from Glenn and others I know have purchased from Chip. All were satisfied. I've included both links below.

I've heard of aircraft tires filled with nitrogen to prevent condensation from freezing at altitude and damaging the tire through bead/seating problems or an out-of-balance condition when landing in freezing weather. But propane? Wow, how dumb is that?

I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with me. I'm feeling better about the 7800 and I agree that the weight difference in the 3130 is significant. The ground in the Gig Harbor area is very sandy with much river rock. It isn't too bad to move around with tractors that I have rented in the past, but that is an L35 machine. I guess if a job comes up that is too big for the B7800 I can always rent for a day. Thanks again and I'll be in touch

I'm jumping into this thread a little late here, but I think something doesn't make sense here.

In the original post it says the bucket was rising and falling, and the mower on the 3pth was also.

Presuming there was no movement of the controls to cause this motion, how could pressure be rising and falling in a closed circuit?

If a seal is leaking it would cause the subject componenets to either lower or rise to the limit of the possible travel. It could not, that I can imagine, cause a cycling action.

I agree with the suggestion that cavitation induced air pockets would, and do, cause 'sponginess' in circuits, but it cannot cause cyclical motion that I could see.

It sounds more like there is some sort of intermittant pressure getting past the controls, this can happen from inproperly routed PB's and such, where the PB is in the return side and is causing compression against the air on the other side, then the relief valve opens and the air moves the cylinder back, then the relief valve closes and it goes around again.

Well I stand corrected and afirmed. There seems to be a reason not to use the american extended life in the car. I I can not see any reason to not use the silicates. The statement that is is essentually sand is not exactly correct the phosphates are not exactly fertilizers are they. I have run high performance gear pumps for years with high concentrations of silicates yes there is wear but you could have run soapy water and had the same wear. Dilute solutions in a non clearance pump sorry I have better things to worry about.
It does recommend using distilled water. The water from your humidifier is like distilled if the coil does not have alot of organics growing on it.

Mule, it depends on the application, as a commercial user, I personally, prefer the GST, unfortunately not all my customers agree and I recently had to buy a fleet of HST machines (my pic. # 6). My own personal toy, errr, I mean tractor is also a HST (my pic. # 11) but that is more because to get an air conditioned cab with a stereo from the factory there was no choice. For the average 'homeowner' the HST is propably a better way to go because it is more user-friendly. The GST is definitely the more user-friendly of the 'standard' transmissions.

Zippy, a GST (Glide Shift Transmission) has two major differences over a 'regular' 4 speeds by 2 ranges gear tranny.

First, it gives you 8 forward and 8 reverse gears. This is a real nice thing since it means forward / reverse motion happens at the same speed as the other. In other words, with a GST 3rd gear is the (almost) same speed going forwards or back. With a 'regular' gear tranny there is no 5th reverse, just low and high reverse, low is normally same as 1st, high is same as 5th. If you are bush-hogging for instance, in 3rd gear and want to reverse, you either have to shift gears and range and back up much faster in high reverse (5th not 3rd), or back up at a crawl in low reverse (1st not 3rd).

The other difference is that the clutch is automatically operated by an internal hydraulic servo which is actuated as soon as you move the shifter between gears or the shuttle between forward and reverse. This means you have 'shift-on-the-fly' without clutching. There is still a clutch for manual over-ride or PTO control. This system also allows you to 'skip' gears, you can go from 1st to 8th directly, or vice-versa. This is VERY handy when mowing since it allows you to 'downshift' as you approach corners, hills, trees, etc. by merely moving a pistol-grip shifter next to your hip.

Do not think automatic is a bad thing, we have used these things commercially for years and have yet to have one fail.

Has anyone come up with there own design, or a quick attach, brush fork for the front end? I want to be able to pick up and move big piles of brush. A hydro set of upper arms to grab on to the pile would be great so i won't lose much while driving...<br>

yes, the 6 ply HDWS. I discussed changing them to the knobby general purpose tire since its tread seem more like a tractor tread; but dealer suggested otherwise. I really like the smooth ride high tailing it from house (it's stored in my garage snuggled with my wife's Lexus 470)to the barn.

I have 1967 (I think)104...as I grow older, the rigid seat is killing my back..Does anyone know a way to put one of the seats that have springs on it? These mowers are far better than what is out today (that I can afford)...Please help.

Some after-market manufacturers may still have frames or could modify one they have in stock. Many dealers will research after-market alternatives for customers they can't help with factory attachments or want less expensive alternatives.

Yes a relief-valve makes some sense but more info is needed from Dave to sort it out.

The key is that the loader only lifts when a load is on the 3ph, and I'm assuming that's only when the 3ph is in lift mode. If the loader valve has a single return port then oil from a relief high-pressure line in the loader valve would go into the return line and on to the 3ph. If the 3ph is in neutral or lower the oil simply goes to the reservoir. However, the return is blocked when the 3ph is in lift mode which would hook up the lift and loader cylinders in series and the 3ph would lift unless its weight exceeded the loader.

The system relief and loader PB valves that have two return lines have independent returns to the reservoir so that wouldn't happen. Another possibility is that the loader valve isn't PB rated was operated at the same time as the 3ph was in lift and carrying a heavy load. That can ruin a loader valve.

Yes, that's what I've always thought too. Implements are really the tools worked with and tractors are just mobile power sources. It's good to get a good fit between the tools and the work first because a tractor severely reduces choices of implement size.

For example, My tractor runs a 5' snow blower. It lacks the power to run a 6' one and a 4' one wouldn't clear the width of the rear tire tracks. It takes 3 passes to clear my drives and no matter what the ground speed is about 2-mph except slower in very heavy snows.

My tractor defines how long it takes to clear the drives and I can't change that much except with a different sized tractor. Good thing I don't have strong disagreements with how long it takes. However, the tractor really is too big for finish mowing around a bunch of out buildings and trees etc. and I use a riding mower. A tractor that'd take a 4' blower also might be good for mowing but I'd have to recognize that it would take longer for heavier work. Getting the tools right isn't easy and maybe getting the tractor first seems more manageable.

My 'if/then' sentence was a little fluffy I guess. As Beagle points out the first step should be determining how much weight the front end is designed to carry and maybe followed by a related question of how much is needed.

There's a certain logic to the idea that if the weight is within designed limits and the bolts break then the bolts might be the problem. I think most similar applications would use SAE bolts but owners and sometimes techs do stick in hardware bolts in a pinch. You sure don't want to use stronger bolts to carry weight that exceeds the tractor design though.
