I think Lucerne meant that a box works pretty well as a counter weight for the loader. Without rear weight a heavy loader can tip a tractor on its nose. Improper balance also loads up the front drive and can wear it out or break it. I do carry some weight in my loader if I need more traction when using a box. The weight of an implement doesn't contribute to ballast for balance or traction when it's on the ground working.

Thanks, I'll check it out. After a bit more investigation I found that the deck belt(dealer supplied)is extremely loose and slipping. I'm not sure whats causing this, but at least I think I have the problem isolated.

horstuff; The first compact I ever drove was a 4100 that the dealer brought out with a Land Pride rear mower. it was a nice tractor, but just not enough horsepower. If you're going to put a hoe on it the 4110 just isn't quite heavy enough, first time you hook a root you'll drag the tractor before the hydraylic will give up. Just this winter I traded a 2000 model 4300 in on a 4410, I got a good trade plus the dealer had the 4300 sold to someone before it ever left my property. I would vote for the 4310 as having the better resale as your getting into the size where not only home owners but landscapers, construction firms, and farmers are coming into the picture too. Once you get used to having whichever size you choose I'll bet you a double dip Baskin Robins you never sell it. Have a great week, Frank.

Something I forgot,no matter how you design your system intakes, size the tile, etc. do yourself a real favor and put an animal guard on the end of the tile at the outlet end, I've dug up a few too many pluged tile with a muskrat that had been there a little too long blocking the flow. Frank.

Ken I am sure you have lots more info than you probably want or wanted. However ever I feel a need to dump in a little more for thought.

1. Run a sub panel into your garage/shop at 100 amps. That will give you more flexibility.

2. Do a minimum of 50 or better yet 60 amp to your welder.

3. CHECK WITH a local "WELDING ONLY" supply. They will have tips and tricks. They will show you the basics... You can find some smokin deals on used equipment. Example I bought a Linclon DC 250 machine that is $3000 new for $750. It is MIG, TIG and stick ready. The current is so smooth I have run 1/16" rod to fix sheet metal up to 5/32 doing the wedge on my splitter. They will also have smaller welders. You can also rent some to try out. Used MIG modules are less than 1/2 new prices.

4. Air compressors and other larger tools will also thank you for the good solid power supply.

I faced this decision (3.73 vs 4.10) and found (doing the math from the driveline back) it was a very small difference in Engine RPM at highway speed. I chose the 4.10 for the added capacity after I convinced myself that the dmall RPM delta wouldn't make a significant economy difference over the life of the vehicle. Never regretted it.

Those are decent prices, although I think the tractor sat on the lot for a year or two prior to its initial sale.

106 hours is barely broken-in. Is it a 4100 Gear or HST?

Busboy..thanks for the update. I think I'll look at an overhead mount on the cab roof.

What heaters are the Deere folks referring too? I don't know where you'd get enough amps to run an effective electric heater, though Curtis offers electric ones. My 5 worklights, along with the heater motor, windshield wiper and flashers, use most of the alternator's output. My Curtis coolant heater works great...with a 190T.

The tractor will not necessarily damage the turf any worse than the lighter one. It all depends on the pounds per square inch applied to the ground. In the north heavy trucks are used to travel over the delicate and environmentally fragile tundra mounted with large soft tires.
The BX2230 is mounted with 18-8.50 (56.5 rolling diameter)and 26-12 (81.7). The CK20 has 23-8.50 (72.5)and 33-12.50 (104). I found some data on the contact areas of turf tires but not these sizes. I would venture to guess that the contact area of the Kioti is more than double that of the Kubota. Meaning that it actually has less PSI on the grass.
The main problems with the extra weight is in the loading on corners and hills. If you don't drive like NASCAR I don't see the problem.
The other factor to consider is how soft is your soil in the spring?

This tractor has a loader on it that has been used with the mounting bushings for the bucket extremly worn . This is what I think caused the bolts to break, and some just came loose,I also need a hood if anyone knows where I might find one off a salvage.

Brinly makes plows for garden tractors and they say to place 100 pound on the left side and 50 pound on the right. Because the right tire is always in the furrow and the left is on unbroken ground. They also suggest 50 or more on the front. I found our why. I hit something and the front end came right off the ground.

I was looking at the woods, brush hog and kubota hoes for my b7500. Spend the money and get the kubota one. Heres why. Its sits closer to the frame which mean the entire rig is shorted, more levelage and less stress on the frame. Can be taken off and put on easyer. Doesn't void your warrenty. It was specifally designed for your tractor. I am getting one, but its a fall project if i make enought profit to by one. The price different is only $700 at the most.

CraigC; I'm afraid someone beat us to the punch on the flame thrower idea. When I was a kid somebody came up with a weed flamer to cultivate corn with. I remember my Dad and I went to watch a demo of this thing. it looked pretty good till the next day when corn, weeds and all were dead. But then their patent probably has ran out by now, so why not we might end up richer than Oprah. Gotta laugh once in a while, Frank.

Getting back to the original question. Pump diesel in most case (except for in very cold regions) is #2 diesel. I suggest you buy the off road/farm diesel which will save you about 40 cents a gallon. It is #2 diesel as well. I use Power Service in the Silver bottle and John Deere Summer Formula fuel additive.

I am new to this board but I have been reading the different forum areas for several months.<br>
I am looking at buying a 5 foot mid duty Hawkline brush mower to pull behind a TC 33D. According to my local dealer this line was started by some people that used to be at International. It is a very good looking design, has anyone used any equipment from this company?<br>
I plan on mowing app. 4 acres of gas well sites and 4-5 miles of logging roads and 4 wheeler paths with it. Probably nothing oner 1-1 1/2" in diameter.<br>
The second part of my question is how much weight should I put out front to help hold down the front end?<br>
I do not have a FEL on my tractor and the wheels are not loaded. I am running the industrial tires on it.
