Don't forget you can Air-Arc cut with a stick welder and an air-compressor with the right kit. For example: a gas torch will not cut stainless, only makes a mess.

My personal welding priority list:
1.) Torch set (welding, brazing, cutting, everything you need)
2.) Stick welder-- 220v ac/dc, best you can afford (you can add a Mig and/or Tig head to it eventually)
3.) Small Mig for sheetmetal
4.) Plasma cutter

Remember the electrical needs, Lots of amps!! Been doing professional metalworking as a journeyman machinist for 10 years. Not a professional welder, but done more of that than I care to remember.

I have enjoyed my 2210 for a year now and late this winter the throttle bushing loosened preventing the throttle from maintaining its position. I tightened the jam nut on the back of the linkage and it worked for a short time before it loosened again. I used lok tight on it the second time. but its loose again and I'm getting tired of pulling the dash apart- I need to fix it so it wont loosen again. I'm sure it's the same set up as a 4000 series. Please help!

Bobc; The small light duty 3pt. disc harrows were never meant to be a primary deep tillage tool. They are meant to work down a seed bed that has been deep tilled by a moldboard plow, chisel plow or some other impliment that works the soil down to 7 to 10 inches deep to loosen it up so your disc will penetrate the soil. Wait till the soil looks plenty dry then wait another day or two before doing any deep tillage in heavy soils in the spring. Working heavy soils while they are too wet will get you the nicest assortment of grapefuit size clods you ever saw. Pick up a handfull of unworked soil, squeeze in the palm of your hand, if it stays in a solid ball it's too wet, if the ball of soil fals apart it's time to go. Depending on how large an aeria, how much surface trash, etc. are involved maybe a rotary tiller is your best choice, but then don't use the disc behind the tiller as you've did everything you need in one pass. THANKS GUYS,problem solved. I had a bad but not lreaking quick connect coupling. Replaced it and everyting is working fine. I am new to this conpact tractor stuff. I have never had one go bad on a industrial size loader or skid steer so I would have never thought of that problem being that the problem.

CraigC; you hit the nail on the head, fire is the cheapest, lowest labor, automatic fencerow mower ever invented. but now the county health dept. gets really cranked over any open burning of anything, I guess it's better to truck the trash a couple states away and polute their environment than our ours acording to them, don't get me started on that subject or I'd be banned from the board for life. It would be hard to put a tractor/loader/backhoe package together in the US for under $20K.

The BX23 and the GC2310 are the only machines I know of that fall into that price range, especially if you add a blower to the package.

If price is the limiting factor, then your field is narrowed to those models. The good news is they will both do the jobs you outlined. A bigger, more expensive machine may do it faster, but not better.

The 460 pound lift capacity is matched in both models to a 5 cubic foot bucket capacity.... meaning they will both lift as much wet soil as they can hold.

I was thinking also that 2003 was a little late for that model number.

Does it have a 410 loader?

What sort of tires come with it?

I would guess 13" will be the standard. When I ordered my 46 last summer I asked for the standard bucket and was a little surprised when I got a 13".

BTW... I got my 9" bucket from Ameriquip, not from Deere.

I use EP-2 multi purpose lithium based. You can get it at Sam's Club for 16 something, for a case of 20 tubes.

Yeah, but I figure just like car buying it really comes down to the dealer's customer service. To me there is not a lot of real difference in the 30-hp compacts I've looked at from JD, Big K, Case-IH-Farmall, MF, Zetor, Century, Branson, Ford and Kioti. (Exception is the Chinese Jinma tractors, they are put together like JUNK).
So the red tractor DX33 from a good dealer beats out the blue TC33 from the folks with bad service. Simple as that.
The Case dealer even called to apologize that the company is behind on sending out product literature, said they'll have new DX series on the lot in a week or two come on down. That merits another look at their stuff.
Their "sister" dealership that sells Cub Cadet and Kubota was so-so, they weren't rude but weren't trying to reach out to a city boy who has never owned a riding mower much less a CUT like the Case folks....we'll see how this plays out. I understand this is the time of year when the new tractors are in and the dealers want to sell ??

Thanks for the post lucerne,I have a loader so that will act as the counter weight? I see alot of posts about the tilt andturn kits. Does any one know how much they cost? will I need additional hydralics at rear for this set up? Currently I have a backhoe on back, and Cat-1 3 point hitch.

My deck and loader were compatible. Didn't matter. Mowing the lawn with the FEL on didn't work. The weight of the FEL on the front axle caused too much lawn damage while turning. Counterweight was fine, but just added more weight when what I really wanted was to be able to tip-toe around on the lawn. The lightest set-up was the rear mount mower.

I wonder if the idea is to move the slash to nearby piles or further away? I think you might have trouble dragging slash through bush any distance with a rake and might want to load it onto a utility trailer.

Green's idea sounds pretty good for dragging it around and there may be similar commercial products. Loading slash onto a trailer would take a different style of forks. Either way, trying to attach a 3ph rake to the loader doesn't sound like it'd work.

Wildmike; I totaly agree with your thoughts on starting a diesel under full load causing problems. I don't remember the exact years, but when GM started using the 350 block for a diesel and they turned out to be a total failure. I think they were an inherintly weak engine, but I allways though that not one out of a hundred people who bought them knew anything about properly warming up and cooling down a diesel engine. An example we had a local RFD mailman who grew up running diesel equip. bought up a half dozen or so of those old GM diesels that were still running when no dealer would take thm in on trade. I think he just recently used up the last one, he was getting a couple hundred thousand miles before they pooped out. Frank.

Busguy..one other question. Where did you mount the temp gauge and what make/model was it? Any chance of posting a pic of it?

Also, it occurred to me that using cetane booster could have a positive effect in reducing hot spots. Any thoughts?
