I am afraid I am guilty of some of the rants on this subject over the years. The last I looked the trade deficit was running at 400 billion/year. Simple economic states that to buy the goods we must sell something to the world. A US dollar is only wall paper without its ability to buy something. What is the foriegner buying? He has to buy part of the country.
To put it into prospective. A large company is basicly worth one times its yearly sales. Therefore the largest companies in the US (GE)which is really an international company is worth about 200 billion.
We are therefore selling about two GE's per year to supply our needs for cheap goods.
When we sell the country to a communist what happens? Well recently an electric heating element manufacturer in AL was sold to the Chinese. The employees got their pink slips in January. A furniture company sold to Chinese two years ago in MS with the same results.

Tom good points, the Power curve of the engine tells you what Power is available at an operating rpm. A good unit to think of power in would be ft-lbs/sec. "Power" is the rate at which Work can be done, "Work" is Force applied x Distance. One Horsepower equals 550 ft-lbs/sec. A one hp engine can do the same Work as a 10 hp engine, but would theoretically take 10 times as long to get it done. An engine, due to mechanical and thermodynamic efficiencies, will reach maximum torque at a lower rpm than it will reach maximum hp.

After some digression, back to the original question. My feeling on the rear pto is based on the available torque at the shaft. Although the Power available at both shafts is roughly the same, the rear pto has about 4 times the available torque (about 1/4 the rpm). The mechanical advantage gained at the pto shaft would theoretically be lost if the mower is geared back up to the same blade speed. I'm not sure they are, which may explain why mid-mount mowers generally give a smoother cut, while rear mount mowers don't load the engine as heavily. I need to think about the angular momentum stored in the decks from the spinning blades, and what effect a heavy load at the blade has at the pto shaft. Because the rear is geared down, there may be an anvantage to the tractor there.

I started locally in Connecticut and when the NH dealer I went to was over $4,000 more for the BASE TC24, I didn't even give him a second chance.

He was asking $14,400 for the gear drive TC24D. What a joke! With a MMM, and loader I was looking at almost $20,000. Give me a break. No wounder why he's "...really hurting this winter...".

I'm glad to give my business to Tarheel Tractor just on principle alone.

Why not buy from Corriher or Tarheel

Last summer Van played in Germany with Sam Butera. Sam was Luis Prima's legendary sideman--and is still performing.

Both Van and Sam are legendary at least among musicians. But if you're not a musician and have heard of Sam them then you're really showing your age. Van is the man of a hundred albums and still mostly known for one hit. Sidemen are never stars but Sam came close. Both are likely to be played and imitated for centuries. Wish I could have heard them together.

Well, if you're starved for pop music that actually has some excitement and where the musicians actually learned to play before their careers were over then check out Louis Prima's 'The Wildest Revisited,' a Capital CD. It's a mixture of swing, dixie and early 50's rock. It rocked then and still rocks--especially given what we've got for pop these days. Now I'll try to get back to tractors.

My theory has allways been that oil and filters are free compared to parts and labor, yes by all means follow the book and don't substitute a less expensive fluid that might not meet the specs. your tractor calls for. We usually change fluids in our CUT's on a shorter hour interval than the book calls for being they do a lot of short run type work and lots of times don't get fully warmed up. Frank.

You are correct...I went to another tiller site and found good instructions for cutting the drive shaft..I made a cardboard template of the drive shaft length prior to cutting. I am considering adding a I-Match quick hitch to the tractor..At that time it will add about three inches to the drive shaft length. Keep in mind that you do not want to extend the implement to far behind the tractor...it will take weight off the front wheels...requiring adding weights to the front to keep the tractor balanced..I am pleased with the tiller and it does a fine job..

After a lot of research and talking with US Battery it seems like charging in parallel only means the charge is split between the batteries there for increasing the time required to bring the batteries to a full charge. I guess lead-acid batteries are not of much interest to most as long as their car starts. :) Actually I found learning about deep cycle batteries to be interesting. The typical deep cycle battery is good for about 300 recharging cycles and only reach full output ability after 20-50 cycles. That means most will die of old age before they ever reach full potential. I am glad people are not that way.

I have owned deere before. Now i will only own kubota. My local dealer can't even keep those Bx23 in stock. Home owner and commercial contractors are buying them. You will be much happier with the Kubota.

I have both. I used the rear blade for snow and finish grading. Other wise i used my box blade to rip, move and level dirt. They are both just small versons of a full size scraper and grader. The scraper moves large amounts of dirt anf the grader makes it level. Its best to have one of each. Right tool for the right job.

By the way a tiller is nice to have. I finally got my $166 used tiller working the other day. (It came back from the dead, i hate it when good tools get left outside by stupid people) Shame the guy paid something like $1400 for it. If you do get one. Get one with reverse tilling. The work 10 times better. Great for doing seed beds since it buries the large rocks and leave good soil on top.

My b7500 light doesn't go out. I tried it one day when it was cold. It didn't go out after 20 seconds which was when i stop so i wouldn't damage the glow plugs. What Blizzard said is exactly what to do.

I built my self a curtis type loader arm mounted snow plow. I took a kubota front mount mower plow and mounted it to the arms. I am about half way done with this. I send you some pic when i get it done. I have used this type of plow before on both small tractors and large construction equipment. Very satisfied, but you risk bending the loader arms if you hit something.

Also i have a friend that has a frame mounted snow plow for a B series tractor. Its only missing the hydro control valve. But the one on your loader would work. Its used the 3pt to lift it up and down. I think i had him down to $800. But then i relized i couldn't used my 3pt blower.

ok, its not the hydro wine thats for sure. I dont think its right though. i compare the sound to a box fan (computer fan) when it starts to wear out it makes that vibration noise. i think it has something to do with the output to the front axle, not positive though. oh, my pto wont shut off either, its not electrical, i think there is a stuck spool in the pto valve?
