Generally if a tractor has a loader then a plow blade can be rigged up--it is good to have hydraulic angling though. There's quite a bit of discussion about doing it in the archives.

For a front blower generally a mid-pto is needed. Rear to front conversions are expensive and reduce ground clearance. Most blowers intended for front mount work from different rpm's than rear blowers. There also may be shaft connection and direction of rotation issues.

I think heavy duty buckets are good for people who don't want a bunch of specialized implements and only have occasional needs for them. A loader can be set up to do a huge range of 'the work that's gota get done.'

I just want to say that 'heavy-duty' anything is not a universal good and the choice does have downsides. Added weight (both the bucket and compensating rear ballast) to carry around, reduced load capacity and added wear and tear are some. It's not a bad choice and the reality is that few non-commercial CUT owners are ever going to put enough hours on their tractors for the wear and tear to catch up with them.

I made a different choice and use a box scraper for landscaping and a 3ph forklift for heavy lifting and material handling but that choice too has some downsides. On the other hand I have had a few jobs where lifting or traction were marginal at best and a heavy duty bucket may have meant that I'd had had to figure out a different way of getting the work done.

I installed a water temp gauge on my 2210. I removed the plug in the thermostat housing above the alternator, drilled it and pipe tapped it. I use both senders.

Also, the reason for the 160� thermostat is due to a situation on these IDI engines when they are started and run at or near full engine load prior to the thermostat opening and allowing coolant flow through the head you can get hot spots in the pre-chambers causing cracks. So the engine manufacturers lowered the t-stat to 160 so the engine gets to temp faster and coolant flow is allowed. This is more common on stand by generators or reefer units that go to full load almost immediately after start up.

Generally in this part of the country the dealers run a blended mix.

Most around here, during the cold, go 80/20 and as much as 50/50 #2 and #1.

If it was not blended it would not pump thru the strainers in the systems.

Most treatments if used according to Mfd are only about$.05 per gallon treating bulk with consentrates we are at about $.01.

The mid PTO must be able to handle the full engine power, otherwise it would break if you ever plugged the mower with heavy grass. Torque would be a lot less than the 540 RPM rear PTO, and some mfgs. use a special shaft spline. <br>

The quote on the backhoe was $5200.00 installed. That is about Two grand less than the same exact NH hoe. The Rhino has a subframe and does not have a separate pump.

For my Kubota(not a 7800), Starting procedure is:<br>
Sit down in the seat.<br>
Transmission in neutral.<br>
Cruise control lever in OFF position.<br>
PTO disengaged.<br>
Clutch FULLY depressed. <br>
Turn key to first detent, wait for glo-plug light to go off.<br>
Turn key to engage starter, release when started.<br>

If it died when you left the seat, it sounds like the PTO is engaged or the cruise lever(if available) might be just a little on. There is a few second delay deadman switch that kills the engine when PTO is engaged and there is no weight in the seat(or CC is on). Put the transmission in neutral and fold the seat foreward to use PTO driven chippers, generators, etc that do not require the operator to be on the tractor.<br>
On mine the PTO is activated by a small lever towards the right rear of the seat, behind the 3PH lever. Has some gear icons next to it as DRankin noted.<br>
The cruise lever is on the left of the seat, if you have it.<br>
One other little trick some mfgs. are pulling is a brake sensor that will prevent starting unless the brake is on, but I don't think this applies.<br>

I do agree that Deere is trying to make people buy their implements but I also think peopke are willing to pay more for convenience. This whole problem is nothing new, quick couplers have been around in the farm industry for years with implements being different widths.

Yes, from the dealer in LaCrosse. My friend also has dealt many times with the one out of Mn. The last time they would of had to ship a part over night because he was down in the woods (logging) The dealer there asked where he was located (the landing) After my buddy told him he said, " Hey we have a guy traveling thru there tomarroo morn, we will have him drop it off" Well at 10am a truck pulled into the landing and he was up and running again by noon! I am getting the impression that this comp. is one of the good ones around here. I am not pushing this comp. just passing on some of my good fortune. I will keep you informed on the tractor delivery and training they are giving me at my fields as soon as the snow decides to succumbe to spring (at the rate it is going it may be April 1 rst!!!! LOL
Yes, you are right about giving me a little extra and hooking me for life. I was just about ready to buy a KK 60" rotary and my dealer had recomended his Woods 72". The cost was $1,100. I could not justify this cost and was concerned about it being a bit to large for the tc40.
I had all but made up my mind to buy the kk 60" and now I believe I have decided to have them deliver the 60" Woods for $895. with the tractor.
Youall think this is an ok choice/price? The 60" Woods
shear pin, and a 50 horse gear box and a 3 year warrentee on the box for $895. Vs A kk 60" shear pin 40horse gear box not delivered and not totally assembled and who knows what warrentee? Suggestions and comments are needed soon!

I purchased a 7254 fall of 2003. Used it in one of the worst winters we have had in central New York- 36 days straight of snow removal with the loader up to 8' high piles, in temps down to 20 below! Slow to start at 20 below but started every time- no problems with the Kawasaki gas engine- now broken in and smooth running. You will need to keep rpm up vs diesel, but that loader has a lot of guts.4 wheel drive was fantastic-smooth running hydro transmission- whines when cold but warms up quick-engine bolts checked- just fine--I was skeptical of the gas engine, but so far so good. I will be using 60" 3 point finish mower this spring. Bush hogging- no way- too pretty! I have an old Ford 8N with a hog just for that! Add some lights to the top of the ROPs on the 7254- that helps with loader work at night-I had back surgery last summer- trust me- if the CUB could not cut it I would trade it in 5 minutes! Here is an update - October 2004- moved yards and yards of mulch this summer, 20 yards of topsoil for berms, crushed stone for pads for my equipment, and pulled out some old rocks--even pulled up al old mailbox post concrete and all<br>
dug a shallow "dry pond" and hauled river stone- all with the FEL-any doubts about this machine are gone- all with the 25hp Kawasaki- took care of a couple minor hydraulic leaks at the quick connects- thats it- it is a garage queen- more valuable than my car- the tractor stays in under cover until needed--did not cut much grass with the finish mower as it was incredibly wet this year in Central New York--all this and never saw the chiropractor!<br>

I had some doubts about the engine but no more- just wish I had a backhoe! Upstate New York snow- bring it on!<br>

I also own a 1988 446 Ingersoll with the seals out of the pump. The shop tells me it's $300 labor to replace the seals. Is it worth it?

Well according the the 2003 Grounds maintenance equipment Blue Booh prices good until 01 April 2004 In excellent condition the tractoe with snowblower is worth high $4,564 and In good-average condition the Tractor and snow blower are worth a High of $3,960 If it working mechanicly and other than the few spots of rust I think the tractor would be woth getting the tractor and snow blower combo are woth more if the tractor has mowing deck included with it. Basicly the New Holland GT18 In a clone of a Toro 5Xi. Because Toro Produces the Yard and Garden tractors for New Holland. So Toro attachments will worth with this tractor as well as a Kwik-way bucket loader. The GT18 is quit a versitall Garden tractor.

Tractors have no suspension so the battery gets bounced around pretty hard. For this reason tractor batteries are built a little tougher so the plates and internal connections don't break loose but they still lead a hard life.

Royal: Sorry I missed your post. I made the trailer hitch from a standard/universal/genaric "Fleet Farm" draw bar and some steel bar that was in the dumpster at work. Welded it up and there it is. Total investment is maybe $25. (getting rusty now, gotta blast and paint it soon!)
