I'm going to demo a Ventrac 3000 and am also considering the Steiner 415. I like the turning radius of the Ventrac, but which unit is BETTER?

I'll be trying a demo Ventrac 3000 in a couple weeks. On paper it looks like a great unit for mowing with the tightest turning radius of the bunch. It may not be as versitile as some of the others if you need several implement, but I'm looking at the mower and slip scoop since I have other tractors.

I currently own a B7200DT Kubota and I'm looking to trade up in HP a little bit without sacrificing my implement size. Would like to get some feedback on this CK20 HST w/FEL. If your into a pile of soil trying to get a mouthful, will the tractor spin the tires in low range. I ask because with my gear tranny I just feather the clutch and curl and roll the bucket to fill it. Is the HST similar in feel when trying to do this if you know what I mean?<br>

Does the B7X10 series tractors have a so called cruise control with HST tranny or is this only available on the B2X10 series? I'm exploring trading up a little in size from my old B7200DT within the next six months. Not sure if I want to jump to HST or not though. Have never used one but sounds like it may be slicker to use. Got a million questions but i'll post a few at a time.<br>

blizzard, check your hydraulic specs again. Add together the power steering, hydraulics, and add a reserve for the hydrostat regen loop(If hydro) and lubrication, and I would bet you are you close to 11 gpm for the total output. An 11 gallon reservoir seams about right.

Could someone please explain what a ladder frame is, as I have read somewhere that the B7XXX series are made with this type of frame. Does it save on weight, if so how does if differ from the older type tractors that don't have a frame? Does this allow the tractor to flex or just to be able to use lighter materials in castings of the tranny and engine block?<br>

My neighbor just completed a backhoe its a little larger then cad-plans model 821, really did a excellent job on it..I think he is going to sell it,if anyone is interested I can find out for sure

Chief maybe you could do a soil sample, last year I put 3 ton to the acre but it had been quite a few years since I had put any on and the soil sample indicated I needed it...The pelletize lime is more expensive but like I said you only need a hundred lbs per acre and you can use a seed spreader

Your best bet is to beat up the NH guys and have them install your plumbing. They know the tricks.

The manual for the CCM tillers is very poor in the area of adjusting the length of the PTO shaft.
The best way to do it is to remove the plastic guard, cut the shaft halves to the correct length, then fit the plastic guard to the new length.
Cutting guard and shaft in one operation leaves the shaft halves shorter than necessary...which means less overlap.
Raising the tiller can then cause the shaft halves to seperate if there is insufficient overlap.

They will generally do the work, but they will often move you to the back of the line behind people who purchased from them, and they will certainly charge you for pickup and delivery. Unless you're saving a bundle I'd buy locally. Give your local guy a chance to match the price.

Hey,

Get the LA723. It's a better loader for not a lot more. You may as well get it an know your maxed out. My dealer tried his best to sell me the LA523 on my L3134, but I persisted. I am glad I did, it's strong. Don't be misled by a salesman who only has LA523s in stock. They will find you one and swap it out. It's not a big deal. This is a great tractor and loader (3130 or 3134) good luck to you.

i have a 445 2002 with a 60" deck with 141 hours on it oil changed twicw a year with an extra set of blades would take $6500 for it its like brand new!

I agree with the soil prep tips. However, I feel you will continue to get stones working their way up. If you have frost in the ground, they will continue to do so. We've had a farm in the family for 147 years now and they keep coming up. You can keep most of the stones in check by continuing to pick them up.

For that size garden plot you will also need a walk behind tiller to work between the plants to keep the weeds under control. I like the rear tine walk behinds. I've had my MTD for about 7 years now without any trouble.

You might check with your local welding supply company, or an Agway that's tuned in to farmers. I know Agway used to give courses( discussions) and my local dealer currently does. They are scheduled frequently. <br>
Otherwise, look at the lincolnelectric site. There's a heap of info there, even a bunch of projects, and you can order 'Arc Welding Instruction for the Beginner' for $5.00 as well as other books and videos. <br>
I really recommend the Lincoln AC-225 for a starter. Its inexpensive (well under $300 for the kit ) and will run all the electrodes you need to do basic repairs and fabrication. If you find welding is not for you it should be easy to sell, if you find welding to be your 'thing' you will buy more sophisticated equipment, but I'll bet you keep the AC-225!<br>
With 4-1/2 grinder, slag hammer, scrap metal, and some 6011 and 7018-AC<br>
rod you can have a real blast learning!<br>

I use the orange bottle Stihl good for mixing with 2.5 gallons and just use 2 gallons for 40:1 mix. I was told by my shop in very hot weather the 40:1 is preferred so I just go that route all of the time. Sea Foam will address the carbon build up that occurs in all 2 strokes from my experience. It is magic that a 2 stroke works without locking up :) When my dad used the 16:1 years ago he was just using 30 weight motor oil.

Woods makes an entire line for attachments for the JD 2210 and Kubota BX series. Landpride currently is the only company who make a subcompact post hoe digger.
