I would change the oil. Make sure you pull both drain plugs and the screen before the filter. Plus both filter. The one on the left and one on the right side of your B7500. Make sure you put the tall grey filter one on the right side. (One is slightly shorter than the other.) The blue filter is shorter and should go on the left side. DON"T OVER TIGHTEN THE FILTERS OR RISK STRIPING THE ALUMIUM THREADS. It should take a little less than 3 gallons of oil. I spend $55 just to do that. Another $22 for the engine.

This is how i do gardens and seed beds. I take my JD 214 with 10" plow and turned over really hard soil first. If the soil isn't really hard. I run the tiller at 3" Depth. Then again at 6". I hook up my rock rake and rake the rocks off the surface. Then put down the compost and then till that in and rake the surface again for rocks. After doing this several years before each planting season you will have a great rock free soil. I always have good results doing this for seed beds. I only do one or two gardens a year.

I am not sure on the pto horse power but i think it might be to big. My B7500 with 16 pto HP barely turns a 48" tiller in hard ground. As who ever is selling it if you can try it out first.

Find somebody who does welding and see if you can have them teach you the basics. It probly only cost you a case of beer. Or look at a local community college. Most have a welding class for people who weld as a hobby.

Now for stick welders the easiest way to learn is to find youself a really old timer who was a welder. They will teach you all the tricks to a stick welder. Its much harder than it looks. For mig welder a little practice and you will be just find.

Also welding is easyer the better the welder is. The little 110v welders will drive a new welder nuts trying to get a good weld. S0 look at the Miller welders then look at the rest. I have a Miller 210 w/3035 spoolmate. It got all the goodies of its big brothers. I love it. I have to wait until next year for a Miller AC/DC tig and stick welder.

Burt, first, sealer will make your concrete as slippery as the ice itself.

Secondly, the easiest way to prevent salt damage is to NOT USE salt, try CaCl (calcium chloride) or one of the 'other' de-icers available, they are a little more money, but certainly less $$$ than replacing a sidewalk.

When I bought my TC33 2 months ago I had the dealer add a rear remote, they charged me $500. I have not use it yet because I can't afford the hydraulic top link.

Dee, although not required; I would suggest installing a Mag-Hytech Double Deep transmission oil pan if you are going to tow heavy. Piers at Piers Diesel comes HIGHLY recommended for advice and parts in this area. They have great prices. I realize that something like this should not be needed on a new truck but unless you purchased the extended warranty, it is VERY cheap insurance. My understanding is that the oil pan for the 47RE is the same pan on the 48RE.

As I said earlier in this thread, annealing means more than one thing. It means one thing to a heat treater, another thing to a welder, and something else to an engineer.

In the most general sense, annealing and softening can be used interchangably. But, I know that if I go to a heat treater and say "Anneal" we are talking about a specific process of elevated temperature for a definite minimum period of time.

Beagle, I agree with most of your post, but the HAZ can have soft (annealed) areas, brittle areas, and a number of other characteristics depending on the base metal, welding electrode, and welding process used. I also agree that weld embrittlement is a more serious problem.

I missed your original question when I mentioned spray arc MIG. It is not really like submerged arc. It is definitely a MIG process using the same wire as with the more common short arc welding. You only get to spray are with high current and special gas mixes. You cannot do spray arc welding with CO2 shielding gas. Gas mixtures must contain mostly Argon with a very small amount of O2 or CO2.

The heat that a MIG system puts into a weld is directly related to the wire feed rate. You only adjust the voltage to control weld appearance and to properly burn off the wire at a certain feed rate. So, if you want to weld thicker stuff, you turn up the wire speed. As you turn up the speed, the current used will go up to the limit of the welder. With spray arc, the wire feed rate can easily exceed one foot per second.

On a stick welder, we are used to turning up the current, but MIG is different. I like my MIG a lot and use it more than any other welder in my shop, but if I want maximum penetration on thick material, there is no question that I will use stick instead of the MIG.

All good points. Grinder - I haven't hired a carpenter in a while but I would guess the hourly rate would be similar. Prices and taxes are steep here. Thanks for the compliment on house. I just received my CO from the town for my poolyard project that is in my pictures. This year I have to stain the wood around the poolyard and 3 sides of the house.

Peters - I hadn't thought of the rental aspect but it is a better and more direct way to think about it. It does make for a longer payback period.

Hardwood - I agree that there are intangible benefits that are not included that really increase the overall value of the tractor to more than $. In my case a whole lot of work is getting done around the house without me. I come home from work two nights ago and my wife and daughter have dug an 80 foot trench 2 feet deep for a drainage pipe!

I picked one up in Milford, NH from Chappell Tractor ( Dave Gage - 603-673-2640) with LA60 Loader, 60" belly mower, 4 way control volve, turf tires w/rimguard, mulch kit, block heater, rear tire chains, and Hi-capacity alternator (on back order) for $13,737 no tax including delivery 60 miles south into MA. Then I went back and picked up a demo 50" snow thrower for just under $2,000.

Very nice people to deal with. I had a hyraulic leak at the 4 way control (Kubota left out an 'O' ring!!). Chappell sent out one of their repairs trucks and fixed it in my garage, no charge!

I'd go back again!

I've got to assume it's a typical position control 3ph. If so about the only choices are the flow-control valve and the poppet valve--except if the implement and link arms were binding. If the flow control valve is open and feels normal I'd start the tractor and listen for the relief valve opening. If it does there's a good chance the 3ph adjustment is off and the poppet isn't opening. A tractor shouldn't be run too long with an open relief.

Even if the relief doesn't open the poppet still may be stuck or the linkage isn't opening it. You sort of need a manual to check and adjust it. On mine with minor disassembly the control lever and the heads of both the lift spool and poppet valve can be seen. Operating the quadrant lever can be seen to depress the lift spool and poppet valve in lift and lower mode. A manual gives clearance specs for adjustment. The poppet valve could be manually depressed and the 3ph should lower--at least on mine. If I tried it I might want to block the blade up to take weight off the hitch but with a lot of care since the 3ph may be against it's mechanical stop.

I agree with Tom. For a component like this to break, without abuse there must be a flaw in the casting or forging. Most manufactures will extend the waranty to cover such items out of good will. You may have to talk with the area rep. for NH but normally they will replace the item at the least and will cover labour at the best.
