There is some detailed discussion about new 790 engines in the archives. Newer 790's have less HP than the originals. If I recall the general thinking is that the original 790 may have had more power than was useful or maybe even safe in a tractor of that size and weight.

A new 790 would have less hp but it should actually do about the same work since a lot of what can be done depends more on weight, balance and traction than on power. I'm not certain if JD put a different engine in them or just changed the tuning on the original engine.

I'd like to have a fancy blade with all the tilts, angles etc. and most important with end-plates but they're too expensive for how much I'd use it. It would do the worn of a scraper and then some. For moderate gravel drive maintenance and landscaping work a box scraper with hydraulic top-link is a more useful tool. However, they can't do significant ditching or drag material from one side of the blade to the other. They also as good as a blade at cutting drive crowns terraces etc.

The main thing about a box is that material can be cut or picked up, moved and then spread all on the fly without stopping. I sort of surprised myself when I realized that I spread the last tandem load of gravel almost entirely with the box. Most blades aren't good at moving material since it comes off the blade ends as it is cut.

Tire chains may help in deep snow. Winter's about over but there's a bunch of discussion in the archives for next year.

It is a simple machine, a few belts and pillow blocks, a couple of shafts and a big 24" flywheel. Most of the wear parts are off the shelf, there is even a list of generic parts in the manual. There is a belt driven feed roller with a release lever along the top of the feed shoot., it also will blow the chips through the exhaust chute.
OUr customers seem to be satisfied. It is not much for shredding however it chips wood very well.

I had the same problem with a Case 1070 farm tractor once. A coter pin had came out of the linkage inside the housing under the seat and let a linkage rod come unhooked. I'd try lots of other remides before I riped into the housinmg, but just thought I'd pass that along. Frank.

ncrunch32, I guess on what basis you want to figure the payback. We use out CUT's for lighter farm work, so they do earn their keep. Granted we could use an "H" Farmall or a "66" Oliver and get most things done that the CUT's will do, if you were content to get along without live pto. power steering, much inproved hydraulics, etc., etc., but the little ones make your job fun instead of a chore. Ther just isn't anything much more relaxing than going out after supper to mow a waterway, road ditch, dig up something with the backhoe, or whatever with a machine that don't break down. If I do retire from the farm some day at least one of the compacts will go with me just for the fun of having something to do. Frank.

Weather people had us all believing it would be the big one. I think we got 5" give or take a centimeter or two. For three days they been telling us, 10 - 12" in our area. Oh well, time to go plow the driveway as some here have to head to work. I sure miss those large storms we use to get. Seems now, a lot more of these 4 -5 inchers instead of the 18 and 20 that use to come. Haven't checked thenews I wwould gueess tht north of me and up in Maine probably got a lot more than us.

I am not sure about the loaders but, Rhino makes the NH backhoes. I will be buying one very soon and saving several thousand dollars. The only differance between a NH and a Rhino is the decals, it even comes in NH blue.

Lemme look at doing that. I can hopefully try in the next day or so. It might be doable, I'll report back. Perhaps art or someone has already tried.

The 'hoe definitly goes on and off quick - But I've always added/removed the links (4 bolts). If I could leave them on, that would be the ticket... I've just been doing mostly backone work, so I've not really tried.

I hope you find a buyer for your Jinma soon. I'm not sure if 2001 was the first year for the 354 or what year they were first built. I will say that almost anyone that wants to buy from an individual is looking for a bargain and will find a hundred different reasons why you should't almost give it to them. I've bought and sold a few tractors over the years and always get a few guys that will kick tires and downgrade it Jinma, Kubota, does'nt matter. Then along comes the guy that has cash and that Jinma will be just the tractor he needs. If you holdout firm on your price and let the guys in the Chinese tractor forums know its for sale at that price it will sell. If I did'nt already have a Jinma 354 i'd take it myself.

i live in NH and i am seriously looking at the ck20 hydro... i thought that it would be easier for my wife to operate as well... is there that big of a power difference between the hydro and gear ? also, can anyone give me reasons not to buy the kioti over a kubota ? thanks..

You should be able to find the long landtrac 530 for around
13,000 to 15,000 used plus loader.
I purchased a 2001 new for 17,500 plus 3500 for the loader.

Around here, most folks spread a ton to the acre. At least that is what I have done in the past. I don't apply lime every year though.

I've always run just pump diesel. Make sure you buy it from a place that sells alot of fuel. If not water or old age could be a problem. Kubota also sells an adative, I have it but never used it. Never a problem.

I know your question was between Deere and Cadet, but for a lawn tractor, you may want to consider Simplicity if there is a dealer in your area. I have owned two in the past, and was amazed at the quality in the last one I owned. I found the people at Simplicity very helpfull, even when contacting the corporate website. They would call me personally to make sure I was satisfied with the answers I got. Tractors were hydrstats and shaft driven, and cut lawns perfectly. For lawn care, I would definitely recommend one. Just something to consider.

With the blown fuse. The NH dealer told me to go to Advance Auto and get a 10amp breaker to replace the 7.5 amp fuse. He said that New Holland knew of the problem and said this was the fix. Sure enough, it fixed the problem...haven't had any problems ever since. It was the top fuse in the fuse box on the tractor's right side under the hood as a reference.

Hi AV8R. Enjoyed your pics. I know I want the BX2230 with mower, but not sure if I should go with 54" or 60"? Have bumps and small hills in my yard, and some rocks---typical of New England. You had a picture of the 3 pt hitch on the back of your machine. The last picture you had was of the 3 pt hitch with a ball hitch. How can I get one of those? I have a cyclone rake for leaf removal that I would like to adapt to this tractor. What you had would be perfect. Thanks!
