Like you, I have wondered why the 4010 gets so little press.

I own a 4115, but I do admire the tidy size of the 4010. I would buy it for general usage long before the 2210 or a BX. It has bigger tires and wheels and enough power to get the job done.

I will be interested to hear what you think of it as you start using it.

I have to agree with the fella. I just went through a brutal experience getting rid of a garden tractor for a CUT. The garden size tractor was far too limited for landscaping tasks. Although I was able to find some post hole diggers that would fit the machine, it was very limited in selection and use. The 3-point arms are just too short to get the lift you need, and I got very concerned about the torque it would put on a small framed machine.

Had a FEL on the tractor. Couldn't get a full bucket of anything from a pile. It did the job, but was tough on me and the machine. The FEL was better used as a wheel barrow than a loader. I lost considerable $'s trying to improve the garden tractor to do what a CUT would easily do. Expensive lesson I would recommend anyone avoid having to learn on their own.

Get a diesel. The difference in fuel consumption alone will pay for itself. The 25hp gas garden tractor would use 6 gallons of fuel in less than two hours. I get twice that out of my 30hp diesel.

I could go on for a while. Get a CUT, 7610 or 2410 Kubota, or 4110 or 4115 Deere. You won't be sorry even if you eventually want to sell. There is much more of a market for these machines than there is for a garden tractor.

If you are going to go to all this work I would highly recommend getting you soil tested. You can either pay a local agency or do as I did and stop in at the State Farm Services admin office and get the kit and mail it out. I did this back in January and it took 8 weeks to get back a very good report on my pasture status and recommendation. But they also do lawn and garden testing. No need to buy fertilizers or lime if you don't need it. You could actually do more damage then good spreading lime or fertilzer. Just a thought

I have the 7800, same frame size as the 2710. I would definitley agree with climber. This tractor is easy to use and doesn't feel too big to be nimble enough for mowing. Very, very comfortable to work with. Good luck.

tmeek1, I'm not from NY, but I think a more realistic figure would be 10 to 12 % on tractor and equipment.

CAdet has had shaft drive on garden tractors since they started building them. It wasn't until the 2000 series that they also put a shaft drive into the lawn tractors in the mid nineties. CAdet has been owned by MTD since red cadets were built in 1982. I can't really see where they have cheapened them any more then the rest of the playing field has! They actually just build more models in an attempt to attract more of the market.

The 4310 has 22% greater hydraulic flow and 18% greater hydraulic pressure than the 4210. That's why the 4210 has lower 3ph lift numbers and is probably why the 48 backhoe isn't approved. I'd guess it would fit but would probably operate a little weaker than you'd like.

I would say a fair to poor price not a great price. I would be looking for at least $1500 off that price. Remember that you can get a new tractor and loader with waranty for about 10K in that size range (cheapest). A new Deere (790)which is nearly the same tractor and loader is about 14-15K. With about 1/2 the problem free life of the tractor gone (remember you can rebiuld indefinately) you are paying much more than 1/2.

I bought a used 1999 TC33D that had that problem. The guy before put a spacer on the bottom part of the cylinder, below the top steering wheel bracket, and tightened the top nut down to the spacer. It's not adjustable but it holds the steering wheel in place. <br>
I wasn't comfortable with the position, so I did have to take the dash apart to adjust the spacer. I think it was only 4 or 6 bolts. If you're going to change the cylinder, it may be a bit more difficult to get at the bottom pin of the cylinder, but I don't remember it being intimidating and I don't think you have to remove the steering wheel assembly.<br>
Just like my truck, I keep the wheel in one position, so you may want to think about the spacer deal and save yourself $70~$100. The adjustable tilt appears to be a weak point in the design.

Deere owners manuals are very specific when it comes to the topic of rear ballast. There will be no doubt about the correct ballast after you read it.

You can get a good idea of what sort of implements the 2210 can handle by going to the web site and clicking on the recommended attachments for that model.
