I am in Birmingham Al and have been quoted about the same. $12200 for the L3400DT. As I have been reading forums like mad lately, seems there are widely varying prices on both tractor and implements. Watch the grade of the implement. A lot of "good" pricing in on the lighter duty stuff. Right tool for the right job.

Ken, This is another case where a good dealer could be important. I have been talking to a guy at Praxair. It's a dealer for industrial gasses and welding equipment. Right now I'm looking at a Miller 210 amp mig. What I like about this place besides the price is that both times I've talked to people there they have encouraged me to call ahead and they will demonstrate the welder AND show me some techniques.

My last project was a grapple for loading logs (see picture #1 & #2). For that I used a Century AC/DC stick welder ($350) and it worked well. BUT, I have major health concerns about the smoke. I was so covered in soot by the end of the night that I know I must have breathed in plenty of it.

I have used a smaller 100 amp Century mig for years, primarily for autobody work (about $350 with tank). For up to 1/8 inch thickness it works great but I now have the need for something that will handle 1/4 inch so I'm looking at the Miller ($1200).

Sometimes it's the list of options that might drive-up a price comparison between two units and everytime you go to buy you should make sure the little things that you might want are included as they will only be a cost added later.

A box blade and a york or rock rake are your options you have to use your tractor. A 42" box blade and a 5' rake would do you well. Do make sure the soil will grow something as that could be frustrating!

DK35vince Thanks for the reply yes it is a good probablity that it could be the drive clutch. I know that a complete starter is around $ 500.00 you said you fixed yours by having a new clutch assembly installed just wondering how much did that set you back and did JD shop do the work. My problem nobody seems to know to much about this little tractor in my area. Any help will be appreciated.

2footroper - comparing a Kioti against a Kubota TLB is almost funny. Infact, comparing just about anything against the built of a TLB is funny. You can't always by tractors by the numbers, The Kubota loader landscapers are proof of that. They don't out rate even their own line, yet they are built to take abuse like nothing else. Heck you can stand on the hood and not dent it!

Is there any more feedback on the Ventracs. I'm thinking of trading my Steiner 410 in on one. At 300 hours I just replaced two front axles for a whopping $690.00. The dealer said Peerless made some bad axles in 96 and I probably got some.Maybe two more on the back. I contacted the Ventrac company on there website requesting a visit to the factory as I live very close. I received a call from the President of the company, Dallas Steiner. He was very polite and conducted the tour himself. I was impressed with everything I saw. To me it seems the Steiner Brothers started Ventrac to make all the improvements that the new owners of Steiner didn't want to make.

That could be hard on your deck depending on your air pressure of the tires on the tractor. Many people do use your system and it does decrease the load on what you are securing the tractor with and lowers the center of gravity of the load.

It's the sort of subject I like. Too bad this particular thread didn't stick with the subject and turned into a bunch of personal baggage stuff--the most excessive of which are now deleted. It does happen and there are a few more examples that could be added to Chief's list. I'm with Chief in that regard.

I think the problem is the association with this particular thread rather than the subject itself--maybe it'd be good another time and place. I'd like to think I can keep learning from other people here and hope that turning into an armchair metallurgist will be generally indulged by others. I for one didn't know that annealing mild steel was fairly standard. There are good points here at the level of armchair metallurgy to apply to armchair welding.

IF you talk to your dealer nicely he might add the hydro filter for you! The 1860 didn't come with that option much like other tractors in it's class. The fuel filter if filled before installing normally will not require bleeding to restart. If you do need to it should start with just loosening the fuel line going into the injector while cranking and be sure to tighten while cranking to keep the air from re-entering the system.

The Brillion is not right for your work unless it is tilled soil. To overseed you need the PTO powered unit which sells for about double the price of the Brillion new. Some seed might germinate with the Brillion but I doubt that much over a quarter of the seed might have a chance even though grass seed is shallow planting. The Brillion if in good condition is a good price.

Ducati.. Sounds like a nice rugged bucket you got there. I wasn't aware of a 61"HD bucket option for the 410 and to be honest I don't think it is a valid option for this loader. I think it was designed for maybe the 419 or larger loader. Of course you are free to use whatever fits and I believe a good number of the buckets are interchangable on these smaller loaders, since the hook/pin setups are the same as far as I know. This is a heavy bucket for such a small machine in my opinion...not that you asked my damn opinion anyway! :)
This "large" bucket would be considered a light materials bucket for the 410 not necissarily because it is made lighter (although often the case), but for the machines the loader was designed for (4010-4115), the bucket capacity potential is too much for the machine to handle properly, day-in, day-out. On a bigger machine, this size bucket would be a teaspoon. Just because the loader will lift something doesn't mean it was designed to do that as a rule. I could put 2 tons of stuff in the back of my 3/4 truck and it will haul it...but if I did that all the time something would break. Just hoping to help protect your tractor. :)

I think that could be pretty tough. I did a bit of web searching and didn't come up with much. The model not listed in the IT manuals for Mitsubishi. Hope somebody provides better info.

I don't know the tractor but some use a fusible link as a main fuse. Links look like fat short sections of wire and they can be inside wiring harnesses. If there's a fusible link there's a good chance that's what's blown. A wiring diagram sure would help. Looking for something that may not even exist usually is a big mind bender. If you find one, you would need to find and cure the short before replacing the link.

On my Ford, on the starter solenoid has two terminals. A heavy wire on that terminal goes to the battery and is always hot. A second smaller wire on the terminal feeds the entire electrical system and the link is in that wire. I know that even if I've never set eyes on the link. Your tractor may be set up similarly and then this bumphf might actually help--but getting a wiring diagram is best.

the same could have been said about Kubota not too many years ago. All this crap about will they be around in the future is just that. Daedong/Kudjke have been around as long as Kubota now.. Doesn't matter if it is called TYM/Scorpion/Mahindra/Kioti/Century/Branson or other, there are Kubota dealers right now, that here today, gone tomorrow. Same can be said for other brands. Many things can bring this about. Overall though, it isn't a problem as these companies aren't going away any time soon.

suppose to be warm today, dog got wrapped around a bush and I had to go untie him.. 15 degrees at 6:30 am this morning. I do feel the snow is over, which is fine by me. Last week at or near 50, this week back to 30's for the high. I think with the new doplar and other gizmo's that the WX people miss more now then when they use to guess (after reading the farmers almanac)
