One dealer told me He sells a 4210 if the tractor is going to be just basically a mowing tractor and pushes the 4310 if it is going to be used for other stuff. Personally, I ordered a 4310 but if I had more $$$$ to spend would have went with the 4410. It is always nice to have more power than you need and hard to add when you don't have but do need.

I am thinking of buying a 1530 it is 2wd with turf tires and it looks brand new not hardly a scratch on it and it has 289hrs on it.Is this a good tractor? what should it cost?

I got one at the local Advance Auto store; they are usually hanging out where you can look at them so you can see if they have the right size.
NAPA or any other auto supply store should have them.

Probably be cheaper (but more work) to find a regular socket and cut it.

The Cadet should do your work and make life much easier for you. They are new and I feel a relitively good buy. The average engine life of those engines is around 3500 vs double that on low end diesels. There is a price difference. To me you being a female is a plus, chances are when we would start working you have no bad habits or misconceptions of the machinery or it's performance. Find a dealership that you feel comfortable working with as well as the machinery. I would hate to think that if I wasn't in the industry where I am as to how much money I would have spent to learn what I've forgotten!

2. I need tires. My back rims are 16"x5.5" and the fronts are 12"x6". I want a tread pattern like Kabota puts on there B-21 tractor. I would like to have a tire a little wider than what I currently have.<br>

Thanks for your responses. The idea of a tent structure was a new one for me. I do have a lot of tall trees that drop large branches in the area that the tractor would be stored so I think I will have to pass on the tent approach. I did consider shipping containers, but the rear wheels on my tractor are almost 8' apart so getting around in a ten foot box would require a more gymnastics ability than my age allows.

I like the idea of extended roof eaves coming off a low-angle roof for implement storage. Don't really need gabled front, but might consider one in the rear for wood storage. Most of the heat for the house is from a wood stove which burns 3-4 cords a year.

I was going to offer the same thing as Chief, only do it BC. In any case, I'd be awful leary now to buy in NH with no sales tax. I'm lears because of the UCC filing that any tractor mfg, has to submit. I know where I live in CT, the town is well aware of my year old tractor, how much was paid and the CT sales tax was collected at the selling dealer.. This tells me, that the states can and do pick up on these UCC filings and it isn't worth trying to get around the sales tax..

I am all for shopping around for a good deal, but a relationship with a local dealer has to be given some value as well. Let me know if you would like pricing.

I got a Carver toothbar for my 52" FEL. It was around $350 with UPS shipping to Alaska. Got it in 2 weeks. I tried it out on a steep bank that I intended to dig out & install a retaining wall. Even with the ground being frozen the teeth dug in a couple of inches with moderate force. I could see right away that it's gonna work as I'd hoped.

I spotted this thread and would just caution you guys to think it through. About 10 yrs ago I bought a VW Quantum turbo diesel for the same reasons you cite. The gas alternative was the Audi 5 cyl shoehorned into the "big" VW (the Quantum was the biggest model they made back then). For some reason the european 4 cyl gas motor was not being imported. The good news was that I got 36-38 MPG until the day that I had it towed to the junkyard. The bad news was: pathetic acceleration, the need to coach the whole family on dosing the gas with anti-gel and/or kerosene in the winter and, finally, the ridiculous cost of an engine major when it needed one at 145,000 miles. I junked it instead. Nobody really wanted to work on the diesel. The dealer quoted a ridiculous price for a rebuilt motor - basically "get lost". No local mechanic wanted to touch the diesel.
With rumblings about a Chrysler/Daimler breakup again, my worry on the Jeep would be about future service on the engine.

FWIW, the 60" works just fine on the 4110 for most soils/jobs, as I said. You'll just be looking at the outside of your wheel tracks when you are done with a job. Usually, that's not a biggy. Enjoy! Pete

I am about to purchase a post hole auger for my B7800. Have about 150 post holes in sandy soil. Looking at the 3-point PTO driven variety, not wanting to spend big dollars for a hydraulic auger. I have seen prices ranging from about $300 to $550 without the auger. Looking for any advise on how well these augers work and any recommendations on makes and models. Thanks for your help.
