Law..feel fortunate. We never have thawed ground until May. But it's been in the 30's & 40's so put the FEL on and scraped the compacted snow off the drive & installed my new toothbar. Wife's got the garden seeds, waiting on the new rotary broom, planning a hydraulic toplink....and waiting on summer.

I inheireteda kubota B6100 4WD with front loader, rototiller, post hole digger, and Woods backhoe. It's well used, rusty, and I'm not sure how many hours are on it, but it is well used. However, it starts easily and runs well. New tires and hydraulic hoses. I have no need for it-what would a reasonable asking price be if I want to sell it???

Been reading this thread on chippers with interest. Considering a Kubota 3830GST with Valby chipper. Used ones are expensive, heavy and usually worn out. Don't need another motor to maintain. I've used manual & hydraulic tow behinds, but not the valby CH140 manual. If anyone has tried, how do they feed? Also, looked at kwschumm's pics and got a kick out of the tipover shot. I've got lots of ups and downs, how does your JD work on the sidehills? I'm off to see what some of those implements are that you listed. *S* Thanks

In my opinion with your ground engaging implements and working in a woodland you may well be better off with R1 ag tires - especially if you have clay soil. R4s don't do well in clay, they clog rather easily.

Contact the local dealers and let the tractors fight it out. Marketing guides and salesmen are paid to spin as fast as they can. Let the iron tell the story.

Make sure when you try a backfill demonstration that you do it with the booms fully extended to understand the total nature of the hydraulic HP.

Guys,

Looks like a good discussion going on here. Anybody thought about changing your old style hydraulic fluid and replace it with synthetic hydro fluid ( Chevron Synthetic is what I use). That synthetic fluid runs WAY cooler than regular hydraulic fluid. Run your backhoe on its own PTO driven pump with a hydraulic resevoir 2.0 times larger than the capacity of your pump. Using those 3 things and the chance of overheating your hydro fluid are slim to none.

Good Luck.....I found that subframe info is tough to get since most manufacturers are in the business of selling you a subframe and NOT providing you a bluprint for making your own. I have been where you are at and I found it was much cheaper to pay for a subframe made especially for your tractor by the manufacturer of the backhoe you plan to buy. If the backhoe you plan to buy does not make a subframe to fit your tractor....FIND A backhoe manufacturer that DOES. The Wood's subframe I paid 400 bucks for my B-2150 could easily be made for way less than 400.00 but when you don't have the plans 400.00 is a bargain. Needless to say, the subframe necessity has been debated on this site FOREVER and the general concensus is A SUBFRAME for a backhoe is A DARN Good Investment.

You don't say if your B-2410 has a backhoe or not. I assume it does because I find it would be real tough to put in a septic field and dig a pond with the equipment you have.

I kept my eyes and ears open and visited a couple of salvage and scrap yards in the area and found a set of used forks that were off a a small electric forklift that were 40inches long. He charged me 40.00 bucks for both. Used my trusty welder and chop saw and fabricated quick attach hook-up from a 1 1/8 bar run through the bucket's tow hooks. Works Great sets up in 30 seconds. Never weighed it but I am sure it is less than 100. Don't have a use for a 3 point set of forks since I always got the backhoe or 3 point blade on the back of tractor.

Art,

When you say they make them for Kubotas, how small of backhoe bucket do you mean? I have never seen a quick attach bucket for a small 7.5 backhoe for a compact tractor although I have seen quick attach buckets for the much bigger stuff. In the mean time I guess I will still be driving out the buckets 1 inch pivot pins.

I don't know how to link the page here but I found some nice looking grapple buckets by ATI. Go to preseeder.com, they offer a kit form of a bolt on grapple or a heavy duty bucket with grapple welded on. They are not the kind with tines (for leaving dirt behind) but they look like they would be very usefull.

I would agree with Hardwood. I think I would punch the center , take a small drill and make a pilot hole. Then take a large drill near the size of the bolt and take the flange off. Once the wheel is off then you can remove the disk and drill out the bolt properly.

Seems that shibaura uses a postive ground wiring. The electronics in the lift assembly-board on the fender evidently had a part go bad. I had to bypass the board completely. Seems that the solenoid has external valves that you can press to see if the problem is electric or hydraulic. Found a good mechanic in Milroy IN for Greys that was a big help.
