That would be pretty hard to do because a 1936 Allis Chalmers WC did not have a hydraulic pump. You either have a WD(1948-1953) or a WD45(1953-1957) or somebody did some home made engineering.

Hopefully it will be a nice weekend for a drive. I'd like to run over and see what they've got. I think a 354 or 454 shuttle shift would be a lot better tractor (for this property) than the straight geared 254 I've got now.

Keeping in mind I'm not a chipper expert, I bought the Jinma over the DR for several reasons. The price was a few hundred bucks cheaper, the Jinma has a far heavier flywheel and two blades vs. the light flywheel and single blade on the DR, the Jinma has a blower and the DR just dumps the chips in a pile, the Jinma has a feed roller to pull stock in and the DR does not, and the Jinma has 6" capacity (limited by your PTO HP) vs. 4 1/2" for the DR.

Again, please keep in mind that I haven't yet used either one so I'm not recommending one over the other. It could well turn out that the Jinma will be awful, but I'm not expecting that.

I favor Stihl for my chainsaws, backpack blowers, and pole saws. But in professional use, hours mount up quickly and even the best can die before their expected time. I pay the extra money for Stihl not so much for the expected life cycle, but because Stihl and the dealer provide fantastic service. Parts are plentiful, the cost of repair is reasonable, and they perform as advertised. If I break one, and I do, I usually get it back the next day. I'm not saying Echo is a bad brand, or any other make for that matter, just that my experience with Stihl has been so good I stay with them.

I bought 2 weld-on 3/8" grab hooks from my local Deere/Kubota dealer. Cost $6.70 each, less than a hook with clevis.

kjmorgan - Ref the aluminum rear-end I can attest the B7510 is aluminum. Just did the magnet test on it. I am not concerned with the aluminum. The axles and such that work thru it are steel of course running in normal type bearings. I truly feel that Kubota (or any other reputable company) would not compromise their amazing track record for reliability, usability, and resale by trying to "get away with something" such as using aluminum where most of us may think steel is the only answer.<br>

In comparison to this I have been researching table saws for my new shop. The Rigid brand at Home Depot had been a lifetime warranty type product until recent, January 31st as a matter of fact. All Rigid products (Home Depot style) after that date have been reduced to the typical 90-day type affair. After further review it seems their manufacturing processes have been changed to reduce costs. Also read that the work has been sent "offshore" or something of that nature. These changes are directly related to the dates in which the warranty also changed. I think you can put this together. By not claiming the big warranty they have left the door open for mediocre quality. How shocking. That's just business. I see the sametype of thoguth pattern is the business I've been in for 26 years.<br>

Once again to compare, GM has a new diesel as of 2001, the Duramax. Has aluminum heads. GM single-handedly ruined the diesel auto industry in the USA years ago when they produced a very dog-poop diesel engine. Pretty much a gas engine with higher compression and it failed miserably. The US buyers began to say NO to all diesels for personal vehicle use. At the time Mercedes Benz was a giant in the diesel car market in the states. This GM diesel fiasco sent MB car sales into the ground. I know this because I've always been a fan of MB (have a 1991 420SEL, armored sofa) and have always owned GM trucks (many). My current truck is a 2001 Duramax. It's a great truck. My point is that I (as usual) did some exhaustive research on this new engine and also figured that since they were being smoked by the other 2 diesel pickup companies, they weren't going to make this mistake again. They wanted back into this market big time. They made a huge impact with the Duramax. If you weave thru all the talk, you will find that there have been no major engine failures due to this aluminum situation. I can send you links that will show thousands of satisfied Duramax customers, me included. Volvo is stepping up to the plate with some diesel cars, aluminum engines. You'll be seeing a lot of this in the very near future. Aluminum is not going to be a problem on your tractor.<br>

And now some tractor talk. You mentioned the operating weight of the 2015, valid point. When comparing the 2015 to the 7510, I'll use k for 7510 and m for 2015. The weight of k=1367, m=1973. Seems odd that the m tractor is 606# heavier. I'm wondering if the m is including the ml104 fel? The k fel is (la272=460#, la302=475#) see where I'm going with this? By the way if you buy a 7510 get the la302 fel only, not the la272. The mid pto on the k=2500/2578 rpm, the m=2000/2470. The hydro pump on k=7.0gpm (4.4 / 3-ph, 2.6 -power steering). The m=5.8 gpm 2.3 - 3-ph, 3.5 - ps). Numbers on the m spec sheet state 3.4 - ps, I assume the diff is subtracted from 5.8 total. <br>
The breakout at pivot pins for k=1575# (la302) but 1885# for la352. la 352 is fel for B7610. Breakout at ml104 fel is 1828. Lift capacity is 770 for k (302 fel) and 925 for 352 fel. The lift cap at ml104 is 1828. Bucket size at 302 is 48", 352 is 50", ml104 is 48".<br>

Looks like if you were comparing the 2 machines for fel work primarily, the 2015 would be a closer comparable to the 7610 w/la352. We went with the 7510 w/la302 becausee 48" is as wide as I wanted to go. We have some access issues here and bigger/wider doesn't work here at the Flying Pig Ranch. <br>

Also there is not an m dealer anywhere within 200 miles. What about resale? Say the k costs 15,000 and the m costs 14,500. 5 years from now with both machines having 500 hours on them and being kept in good shape, the k may bring 12,500+. Will the relation of cost be the same. Will the m bring 12000?<br>

This info is merely my opinion. The specs are specs. The m sure seems like a nice tractor, I like the red! I would think that if you were competing with k or jd in the compact market you better have all your stuff in one bag. Of course you continue to hear, "it's just like a Kubota".<br>

I thought of the "symbol" possibility but truly thought that on today's bbs's that wouldn't be a problem. Now thatI think of it.......I tried to post the first half on one post and the second...let's see...yeah, second half (not like hockey where they have 3 halfs) on the following post. The first was OK, second not OK. Second contains that shift/2 symbol. Bummer. It's my favorite keystroke! I work a swing shift amd was writing about 3 am. Orbably too toasted to catch on. But I'm sure that's it.<br>

Raining today. Need canopy for tractor fun. Until then I have this nice 5x7 tarp with two vision holes that goes over the top of operator like so many make-shift ghost costumes. Beauty is that it comes in silver, green, brown, and blue.<br>

I went to the Deere dealer this past weekend and took a drive. He said Deere is doing a promotion that ends on the 28th.

His discounted prices to me for the tractor was $13,830.00
12/12 Power Reverser was +$1,000.00
E-Hydro Transmission was +$2,000.00
Dual SCV/Joystick and single rear (for backhoe) +$800.00
He quoted extra big R4"s +$400.00 extra
Standard non-folding ROPS N/C

Deere gives you a $400.00 rebate if you buy (2) attachments (i.e. loader & backblade). Deere also has a $600.00 discount if purchased by end of month. If I went with the e-Hydro it would have been $19,605.00 plus tax.

I always buy my tractors with rear hydraulics even if I don't plan to use it. It is much cheaper from the factory and helps resale. If you go with a backhoe you need the folding ROPS, so you don't bump the back of your head. The Mid PTO was $349.00 but didn't ask for that option.

I liked the bigger 27x8.5-15 Front and 43x16-20 Rear R-4's. R1's are standard with no cost increase. Standard R-4's were +$200.00 and R-3's(turfs) were +$300.00.

For the $1,000.00 more, I liked the E-hydro. If I decide, I may go up to the 4410.

Craig, we had that same problem with a bunch of our L series units about 5 years ago. Suddenly the nut would back off or the fiber washer would compress or something and it would allow the control lever to move without actuating the hydraulics.

All we did was temporarily tighten the nut back up, move the lever till the 3pth reached it's upper limit, then back off the bolt, re-position the lever into the 'full up' position, then retighten the nuts.

The L series had two nuts which tightened into each other to act as a lock. Vibration defeated this regularly. We used a little Lock-Tite and it never happened again.

My JD 2840 has a chronic hyd. oil leak around both load control shaft seals. They were replaced last spring using the kit, new shaft seals and housings. Started to leak over the winter when not in use. Shims were put in tight as recommeded by JD. Any suggestions welcome.

Dee, the fuel volume test is a required test DC does to determine the servicability of the fuel lift pump that pulls fuel from the tank and pushes itto the filter an injection pump. Here is the TSB that covers this test.

Have this dummies replaced the fuel filter and inspected the the filter housing water sump for contamination?

I use 2" wide straps rated for 10,000 pounds, but when you read the fine print they are rated for continuous working loads of 2500-3000#. They also have an edge guard strip that will prevent cuts. I use a minimum of three to tie my tractor down. The number of straps is generally defined by the position of tie down points that keep me from rubbing the straps on tires and sharp metal. <br>

I also use some 1" straps witha 1000# working load to secure loose stuff on the trailer. <br>

For chains, I use 5/16" and 3/8" common chain. Perhaps there is a DOT rated chain. The binders have DOT designation on them. <br>

I don't believe that there is a maximum weight limit for straps. I have driven big trucks with built in strap tie downs that use 4" wide webbing and the ratchet is built into the side of the bed. <br>

I made the mistake of loaning out my trailer and straps to a friend. The rig came back with a frayed strap. He swore that he did not do it, but I roll the straps up after every usage and inspect them, so I KNOW when it got damaged. It was not worth making a big deal out of it, but I won't loan this stuff out again. Your experience with straps will largely depend on how you use and take care of them.

I took it for it's first off road cruise yesterday. I scared up a herd of wild horses and a herd of mule deer.

It is a great little buggy. I may have to play with some different tires to get better traction on sandy hillsides, but no surprise there. The transmission is awesome. The only time I used the brake pedal was when I changed gears.

That may not sound like much but I was climbing up and down hills I could not have stood on.... so steep that you would have to slide down on your butt.

After that I used it to haul firewood.

I think I will need a top and a windscreen for the cab.

Art, have you sold one yet? Do you have engine and HST filters in stock?

I can't find any around here yet and I think I am going to rack up 50 hours pretty darn quick.

Last time I was in our local tire shop they had a display of pre-foam-filled tires of various sizes. Apparently some company is selling foam filled tires on the rim ready to roll. Not sure how the prices compare to having your existing tires repaired and filled though.
