Murf, don't tell me there is a problem in the north country too! I wish they did it by lottery every two years pluck up some sorry person and make them a president! Ken, unfortunatly I've been away with the wife for a bit. The type of injector doesn't really have that much to do with the noise level as some of the quietest diesels I've worked with are direct injection. It is the whole package and the way it is used that makes the difference. I remember when Cadet went to the plastic hoods to reduce the noise and the difference that was made. If memory is working right it was about 3 to 4 decibels difference depending on the engine at 50'. The fuel economy I wouldn't put that to any one style to say direct or indirect being better as I've seen good in both as well as cold weather starting but I believe that some of the indirect to be overall one of the best and cleanest on cold weather starts. Key here is that plastic doesn't give you rattles like a steel hood would if not properly fastened. The blankets you mentioned are being used some but they to cost money for the manufacturer to use and if there is a better way that costs less they will use it. One point about the steel vs plastic, steel can be recycled more economically then all the different plastics can and after spending some time down south and seeing the newer mountains of garbage that are part of the new landscape I prefer the stuff we can use over again!

I am asking for some help finding a pricing guide for some cat equip. My father-in-law passed away last week and we are looking for prices on '69 d4d in great shape, '59 d4 in good shape, '69 941 loader in great shape, and Balmar 4-wheel drive tractor w/ #60 loader and #753 Ford backhoe don't know year but in fair shape. Mother-in-law has to live off what we sell these for, no other insurance policy. We want to be fair, not ask too much or too little. Thank you

If I visualize this correctly, you want to double the distance the 'load endof the cable moves' moves.

Assumptions:
1) Hydraulic Cylinder starts extended, 'pulls' to retracted position.

2) The load end of the cable moves twice the stroke of the cylinder, ignoring any slack.

One possibility is to fix a pulley on the rod end, another on the 'other' stump. Tie the cable to the 'other' stump, run it through the rod-end pulley, and back through the pulley attached to the stump. The free end of the rope will move twice the distance of the stroke, but at only 1/2 the force, as the cylinder is retracted.

In the real world, there is so much slack in this setup, it would be very difficult to make it work.

plots1 - I have a 2001 2500HD 6.6L diesel. It's a great truck. Zero trouble so far.

If you have any amount of work for it,get the heavy duty
model. I have used both and the small lightweight one
is limited. Stihl,Husky, and Echo has made some major improvements. I bought the echo backpack blower and it is
a nice machine. Didn't think I would ever say that about an Echo, I read somewhere that they have made some major
changes. I'll see if I can find it.

Yes get the heavy duty bucket, if my memory is correct it cost 100.00 more than the standard. I got it on a 4300 new in 00. it's moved lots of soil, crushed rock, snow and other than paint scratches still looks like new. Early this winter I bought another 430 loader for my 4310 that has the 4 in one clam bucket, It works real nice for gathering and carrying brush, but haven't really had it long enough to know how it will hold up. Frank.

Thanks for the info Murf. I may need to rethink it some more. I do see though on the Iseki (Japanese) web site that they show a front mount mower atached to some of their smaller CUT's. This is where I got my idea. I guess available only in Japan and Europe? I would hope that a splined coupling and u-joiints at both ends would provide a sufficient amount of telescoping and angular freedom in the shaft to prevent any bending forces. My lawn is pretty flat so that would help. Thanks,

On a better new holland note, My dealer just made me anouther offer. Tomarroo instead of Sunday he is going to drive 30 more mile to the east to meet me at a truck stop so I dont have to drive out of my way. It went from driveing 60 miles one way to get to LaCrosse from the hy way exchange, (to) just having to drive to his house only 30 miles out of my way (to) driving NO mile out of my way by him coming to me at the hyway interchange.

We've got a 950 that my father bought new in about 1982 and it's been a great tractor. Hasn't seen alot of use with only 450 hours. 2wd with no power steering and no FEL. Seems to have more power than it can put to the ground, but don't have any rear wheel weights. Basically have only had to put batteries in it over the years from lack of use. The engine and drivetrain have virtually been flawless and overall, it seems to be a tough, well-built tractor. I would recommend one to anybody. Hope this helps.

With 6 horses their is always a scoop of heavy...err..."dirt" available, and it's free!

I can even loan ya' some :) :)

The weight bars don't attract flies so maybe your solution does have some added benefits. I mentioned to the manager at the health club that any old weight plates would be great to have, maybe when they upgrade I can snag some CHEAP.

I went to the John Deere dealer today and got to try out a new 2210 with FEL. I really liked it a lot and feel it is more suited to my needs. I like the John Deere 2 pedal hydro better than the BX2230.

I asked what I could do for a trade in on my X475. A 2210 with FEL, level guide bar for bucket, engine heater, 62 in. MMM, and R4 tires. He's asking $6,713 plus my tractor which has the 3ph, rear blade, 62C deck, bar type tires, and 35 hours.

I'll have to do a lot of thinking about that. He should know where he is at with the used 2210 next week. Hopefully that will be within the price range I was talking about in my original post.

Thank you all for the advice I've gotten so far. I hope to find out more next week. I feel that the move up to the 2210 will be a good one. I'll let you know how things work out.

I Need feed back on New Holland TT Series tractors that are replacing the 10S series. I am looking for simular performance that I have with a Ford 4610 that I currently untilize. I am not a fan of the compact boomer line. They seem to offer to much flash that is not truly needed. Thank you, lcg
