If the goal is to keep mud spatter off the operator I'd think it would be easier to rig up some sort of a shield that mounted behind the loader arms.

I could have been clearer in my recommendation. If your front wheels are not maintaining enough traction to steer properly, add weight in the bucket.

When I pulled the chain harrow with the BX, especially uphill, I had very little or no steering control because the front wheels were being pulled off the ground. Put 300# in the bucket and presto.... you get your steering back.

The new 4115 has not displayed this problem yet, probably due to it longer wheel base(10 inches longer than the BX) and greater weight.

In any case, using front ballast before adding ballast to the rear is silly and counterproductive.

The BX had the maximum wheel weights spec'd by Kubota installed and the 4115 carries 150# of steel plates on each rear wheel.

If I am going to use the loader to move dirt I add several hundred additional pounds to the three point hitch.

If you have your rear wheel weights installed, and you are maintaining steerage on the front end, and you are still experiencing rear wheel slippage to the point your ground speed goes to zero............ the only thing left is to not fill the box scraper that full.

Bluetay, What kind of hydraulic problem are you up against? I have noticed on my KIOTIES I have been sending out that the pressure on the loader valve is not set proper?

Yes you can remove that flange without any probleme, the bearing is lock on the drive shaft with a locking collar.

saw a Kubota L 240 ...I guess it's gray market.. have yet to see this model mentioned anywhere has a loader and box scraper how about a price?? are parts avaiable for this model or is there a U.S. model that is an equal...thanks......ken

Snowblowing gravel drive would depend alot on the surface,
course,fine,is it smooth?
Does it freeze up and stay frozen, or do you get thawing and
refreezing? If you think your going to be picking up rocks forget it. Put an hyd angle blade on front and poss.chains.
It really depends on you climate and road conditions.
There are a lot of guys who use a blower on gravel on this
forum and could give you some more feedback.
Personally, I use a 54" PTO provonost blower on a 200'
blacktop drive.
Perhaps the dealer could tell you who is doing it and go check it out.
I would definitely have that figured out first, if you
are going to count on the tractor for snow removal.
You may want a quick attach blade set up on the front if
you decide that is the way to go.
15000 sounds about right with a LDR and 60" MMM for a 7510,
block heater is nice if it's real cold where you are.
Here in Maine most dealers include them with a bucket hook.

Another reason I love this board, someplace to vent other than to my family. Our laws are being broken and nothing is done. Our rights, i.e. 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment, are being stripped and nothing is being done. It makes me wonder if my Father and all other vets have fought in vain. I also question having my son enter a military of a country that no longer resembles the foundation that it was started on.

Deere lists two different R4 options for a 4WD 4310:
Smaller - 25x8.5-14 front and 15-19.5 rear ($200 option)
Larger - 27x8.5-15 front and 43x16-20 rear ($450 option)

All are 6pr (stiff) tires. The larger tires will give you around an inch higher ground clearance and are about 3/4" wider. The tread depth is also about 1/32" deeper on the larger tire. I'm not sure about this, but I suspect the larger tires will come on two-piece rims that you can set to a narrower or wider stance for clearance or stability. If this is important to you you'll want to verify with your dealer.

JD offers a 72" MMM for the 4310, but I think the biggest 7-iron is the 60".

$Murf, we landscapers have been letting ice do our work for ages. We don't even worry about the wooden plug, enough water stays in the bore to do the job by spring. As long as the customer has the patience to wait, the fractures make the removal of tremendous amounts of bedrock (ledge) easy pickings when the thaw comes.$ GrowingRocks

The heavy duty bucket has reinforcements on the sides (extra plate of steel welded), and other reinforcements

I bought the HD bucket (dealer didn't think I needed it) after seeing my neigbor's (non JD) bucket after years of use (bent in middle, etc.).

I don't recall what the price difference was.

I have learned over time that on the 'farm', it is usually better to opt for the heavier duty implement in the long run.
Also, everything purchased for the farm comes with 000 after any other number :)

Does anyone out there have any advice on a JD 790 w/FEL on anything maintenance wise besides what the book says needs to be done ? Also has anyone ran into any problems yet with axle bearings going bad ? In my area most guys with these tractors are using them hard with any known troubles, so far haven't heard any bad news on them. Am curious though why JD will not sell an extended warranty on the 790 and it does on other models .

I have an L2900 GST,that is an earler model of your 3010. My GST has 8 gears I think you have more. When I use my 5ft off set rear tiller I find 1st gear a little too slow at times. A lot of variables are involved here. When the soil is dry it's possible to over till which pulverizes the soil, then when the first rain comes it erodes pretty bad. I would never till ground that has not been plowed before. In my area the soil tends to have some clay in it, that would be alot different than sandy soil. My tiller has 6 tines per flange it seems to work better than 4 tines per flange. A 3pt tiller is not designed to till real deep, if you want depth try a shank tiller along with 3pt tiller. Before I got my Bota I had MF135, 1st gear on that tractor was pretty fast compared to the Bota. I would go over the ground twice and it did a good job. With the soil conditions where I live I would not spend the extra money for the creeper gear.
