I have a chance to purchase a JD 1050 2WD w/ loader from a relative. What is it worth? Condition is good but not perfect. Hours unknown. I would like to know the specifications and any special considerations such as parts availability, maintenance or performance weaknesses or strengths, etc. for this tractor.

Tim you propose what a lot of folks do and to a point it is not dangerous. Things to watch out for, if you need 110 you will have to pull a neutral from the generator. Hooking up 220/240 volt to a 2 pole breaker will not give you 110. As the other post mentioned, make sure you ground the generator and connect this same ground to the panel. Last, make sure you turn the main off and all of the other breakers until you start the generator. Bring the breakers back on line one at a time making sure you haven't overloaded the generator.<br>If you plan to leave the generator connected all of the time or want something less temporary, there are a number of different ways to do this. what about your fuel cap? is it allowing the tank to vent properly? i had this problem on a jd f935. a new cap took care of it. good luck

I have also been considering a 10kw belt drive generator. With your 18

2.5" pulleys you will be turning the generator at 3888 rpm at 540 pto speed.
This is ok if you don't want to run at pto speed, you won't have as
much power. Also have you considered that small dia. pulleys do not transfer
as much horsepower, even in a two belt configuration. I found a parts book
called Grainger, their also on the net, that has the set up that I've found to
maybe work better than v-belts. They have flat 1.5" belts that are called "h"
series belts. They have teeth just like a gear spaced .5" apart and you won't
get any slippage.An 18.5" and a 2.85" pulley gives you exactly 3600 rpm at 540
pto speed. Also this type of belt is good for up to 20hp. This total set up
costs about $300. which includes pillow blocks gears and belt. I hope this
helps. I haven't ordered mine yet but I have done extensive studying on this

Your loader comment is misleading, I have the 790 and it takes me all of 3 minutes with no tools to remove the loader. It is so easy that I take it off if I need to mow and then put it back on when finished mowing. I have used the 790 for loader work and brush clearing with no problems. I mow five acres and have a 600 foot driveway I maintain. I would also look at weight of both tractors, I have a drain field and was concerned about damaging it with the heavier 4000 series tractors. The 790 has been a outstanding performer. I also wanted the 4300, but it made no sense to spend that much more for all the bells and whistles. The loader capacity has not been a problem, I can move all the top soil or gravel I need. Just a note to all the people crying about the tires scuffing the lawn,

I've never personally used one, but I do know the TC5 is the local rental company's unit of choice. Another couple of possibilities you should ceck out are: Dig-it (www.yazookees.com); and Speedex (www.speedex.com). The Dig-it models appear to be the similar to Terramite, but Speedex offers a 4wd model and quick-tach loader/backhoe to easily convert to rear 3pt hitch.

John, by your description you're leaving out a lot of models that Kubota made. There's very little meaning in some of the model numbers. Good luck with your search, I just got a B2400 (well this model # makes sense) about a month ago.

Hey all,<br>I have a difinate problem that the NH dealer doesn't seem to be able to solve. This is a Shibaura 16hp engine. The engine can be running at any throttle speed and slowly begin to slow down, just as though you were doing it with the throttle. Sometimes it completely dies, but will restatrt immediately. This is still under warrenty, but not for long. They have thecked the pick up in the tank , changed the elcetric punp, prefilter and filter, yet this still continues.<br>Is this possibly an injection punp problem? The machine only has about 120 hours on it, but did it from the day of delivery. Sometime will run for 8 hours without cutting out, and sometime several times in an hour.<br>Any ideas would help and be greatly appreciated!<br>Bill

I bought a 5 ft. Pittsburgh 3-point disc-harrow,I bargained with the dealer for an extra 100 lbs.added to it plus I added another 100. Even with that it is only good for plowed ground--its just to light for sod or established growth.I have a 25-60(HEAVY) Land Pride roto-tiller that is my most used impliment for that kind of work.Beside tilling it`s handy for leveling. Newer models have a reversing capability that would be helpful.My advise on tillers is over buy(weight)--they have destruction built into thier soul and it helps the penetration,especially in established growth.

Jason, I have been sitting on the side lines watching this one and the problem is that none of us have the whole story. We have one side and that seems to not have a lot of information. I do not know if you are in sales and if that might affect your answer. I do not sale tractors but I am in the service business and am all too familiar with the folks who only want the lowest price. I have to say that I expect those who are only interested in price get what they paid for. If they are really fortunate, they get more but all of us know that rarely happens. <br>OK so enough of that and back to what we do know happened. This guy went to shop B for the lowest cost. We will assume that this shop will provide equal service and for the time being all else is equal with the exception of cost. Dealer A who lost the deal is now not interested in selling parts either. Although I can understand dealer A's irritation at losing the deal, I also understand that he forgot the first thing about sales, and that is that the custormer is always right. Sell him the parts, make your profit, take care of this guy and maybe just maybe next time you will sell the tractor. All dealer A has now done is gurantee this guy will not come back and worse yet he will tell all his friends and neighbors this guy is not good to deal with. <br>So who lost in this deal. Very simply the dealer both coming and going and now he has compounded the problem. For all sales, service and etc. folks, remember we work for these people. We don't always like what they do, or who they are and etc. and etc.. But if our businesses are built on selling only to who we like, then we will shortly be out of business. I hope others who work with the public understand what I am saying, but I am afraid many do not.

The DeltaHook and Freedom Hitch are very similar concepts with one male section that stays attached to the tractor 3PH and a series of female sections that remain on each 3 point implement. I have the Freedom Hitch and it works very well. The only adjustment I sometimes need to make in switching from one implement to another is to the top link of the 3PH and this can be done from the tractor seat. It is sold directly by Midwest Industries of Ida Grove, IA (call 1-800-586-3811 for video tape or to order) and costs about $200 per section. You do not need to modify any implement to attach the female section since there are numerous holes, slots, and adjustments availble to accomodate differences in geometry. The
