Here is the arm rest kit for hight serial # tractors which is part # LVA12356 and sells for $126.50. Personally, I think the old style arm rest kit is MUCH better and stronger, and will work on all seats. You should ask your dealer about this. The old style arm rest kits are listed as obsolete parts but they can still be purchased. Bellow is the picture of the new style arm rest kit:

Your half truck is rated to pull 7000lbs with the small V-8 and 3.73 gear and 8000lbs with 4.11. The bigger V-8 is rated for 8000 and 9000lbs depending upon gear ratio. This data is from a chevy booklet. If you can find a small tandem trailer to rent and take it easy you should be ok, even without trailer brakes. Park the tractor over the tandem wheels making sure you have some tongue weight and strap it down good.

The 970 came with a standard collar shift transmission or an optional syncronized transmission. You can tell which by the serial number. If the Leter "A" is before the final 6 digits, it is a collar shift. If it's the leter "B" it's a Syncronized transmission. The syncro is nicer if you will be changing speeds alot. The collar shift should be less expensive. My book shows a '97 collar shift retails at $10,600. The loader should add $1000-1500. The backhoe should add $2000-2500 (maybe more???) Good luck with your purchase.

We are considering the purchase of this tractor with the Buhler front end loader and the woods groundbreaker backhoe, model 7500. We have 13 1/2 acres. Residential but heavily wooded. Need this boy to dig ditches, stumps, and rearrange the dirt. The price quoted for the complete package was $19744.00 plus tax. Does this seem a fair price to pay? We don't know a lot about compact tractors and have done some research on the internet. Visited dealers and like this tractor. I need some input, if you would share your knowledge. Not even sure what questions to ask.<br>

One thing you might consider is what the old timers called a cable jammer. My brother still uses one on his JD 350 crawler. The cable winch drum is attached to a truck brake drum. The inner part of the brake (holding the brake shoes and the slave cylinders) that is usually stationary is constantly turning. There is about a 10 to 1 reduction in PTO speed by chain drive. Pulling a lever attached to a brake master cylinder pushes the brake shoes into contact with the brake drum which turns the winch drum. If you let go, the brake shoes release and it stops winching. Also when you are not pulling on the lever the winch free wheels for you to pull the cable. It's actually relatively safe. You can stand off to the side to operate it.

Just to clarify, Farm Pro also has parts and labor included on their warranty, they may have an added advantage if there is a dealer nearby to assist in servicing, if not they operate much the same as Northern, paying a local shop to do the warranty work. Extended warranties are available from Farm Pro, in our case we use FailSafe for extended coverage on all of our tractor lines.

EM, I wanted to know if any of you guys have tried snow plowing with the loader, or if a blade is better. TomG, Thanks for the info. I've been under the impression that all the backhoe movements move at the same speed. the arm to move down and out, while curling, then up and in, all at the same speed. our holes are for flagpole bases.

With the iMatch I don't think you want the bushings to be longer. If they were you'd sometimes have to cut them down. At least I would with my implements.<br>

If you do opt for the QT plate one fo the first things you will want is a 3pth adapter.

If you have ever used implements like a rake on the FEL instead of out back you''ll wonder how you ever did it before. Other items like a wood-splitter are really handy out front too, other than the much better access, it leaves the hitch free for pulling a trailer, and if your really talented you can split big blocks where they lay .

Spend the money, you will a) quickly find LOTS of uses for it, and b) your back will thank you over and over again.

In a lot of cases (primarily with Japanese CUT's) the PB kit is a machined block which replaces a blank plate in the under the seat area.

Although I have seen them made by machine shops they are usually no cheaper than the factory unit. If the factory no longer supplies them that's another story.

Kadorken, did you try the 'green power group' a group of dealers banded together now as a single unit, you can check the parts inventory of 8 dealers with a single call, if any one of them has it they send it to your nearest dealer. See the link below for contact information.

I believe my TLC doesn't have check valves (pilot operated ones I think) and I can attest to what Ironpeddler is saying. On the other hand, most of my grading requires frequent adjustments anyway do to the nature of the ground and my obsession with shooting beautiful grades. Since I can't say how many adjustments are due to the ground itself and how many to cylinder drift I can't say how much good a cylinder with pilot valves would do me.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably get a cylinder with the valves. I didn't know about them when I got my cylinder as part of a 3ph forklift. Who know, maybe I'll get one anyway and then my grades will be even more beautiful with less work.

They can get bent pretty easily pulling ground engaging implements around tight corners or using the rear cutter of a box scraper like a dozer.

I guess the question is why there are enough people looking for them that other people are trying to sell them? A related question is where do the good used ones they're trying to sell come from? I don't think they wear out but some do get bent and some used tractor sold with back-hoes get separated from their lower link arms, which would be sources of demand. I guess parted out tractors and people who buy back-hoes might be the supply.

Your BX (without any attachments) will physically fit into a pickup bed, and at about 3/4 ton should not overload a typical full size truck, but you have to consider how you are going to load it. The tailgate is not designed for that kind of weight and it certainly would not be wise to park the tractor on the tailgate once it is up there (as you would have to in a short box truck). The best place for it is on a trailer. Just borrow one or rent one if you don't have a need to own a trailer.

I am more concerned about the front tires than the axle. They really puff out with a full bucket load of topsoil. Maybe foam filling would calm my fears.

I used to have an old Farmall Cultivision and I loved to just putt around, this Massey reminds me of it and the price does not seem to be outrageous.
