Whew! Happy that's over and there are smiles all around--me too. I almost never run out of theories about most anything, but I was starting to get pressed. Who knows what today's version might have been.

A very few tractors have larger pumps for different models, different options or tractors that are bolt-in replacements. The parts manual for my Ford lists three different pumps. You might check with a dealer but it's a long shot. Larger hoses won't do much good.

Hydraulic systems are usually pretty well engineered to match the tractor but people who want faster hydraulics (for things like log splitters, back hoes and motors sometimes use pto pumps. One possibility for speeding up the loader is a valve that has a fast-dump feature. The dump is usually the slowest loader operation. Valves aren't cheap though.

There are quite a few discussions about front plow blades in the archives. There also are a few stories about broken loader frames from some types of conversions.

I just bought a post hole digger at an auction and didn't ask until afterwards how many horsepower is required (someone said 30 HP). Well, yesterday I tried it on my 16 PTO HP Kubota B7100 and it worked fine-even in frozen ground. The only problem is that it screwed itself into the ground and I couldn't get it out. My 3 PT hitch couldn't lift it even after I removed the PTO and turned it in reverse manually a couple of turns. I had to disconnect the whole thing from my tractor and was able to use a long pry bar on the loop above the gear case to pull it out of the ground.<br>
My questions are: <br>
1. Is the HP rating there more for the lifting ability than the ability to turn the auger?<br>
2. Why don't PTO and/or the attachments have a reverse so that in a case like this, it could be unscrewed from the ground while lifting?<br>

Just visited the Kubota website and looked at the RTV900.
Nice visuals etc. but slow on dialup.
Clicked on specifications and NO GROUND CLEARANCE!
How dumb can they get?

If anyone is interested,I have the SAE book that gives the standard dimensions for "THREE-POINT FREE-LINK ATTACHMENT OF IMPLEMENTS TO AGRICULTURAL WHEELED TRACTORS---SAE J715 SEP83" and "THREE-POINT HITCH, IMPLEMENT QUICK-ATTACHING COUPLER, AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS---SAE J909 NOV84". 135000 miles on the '95 Dakota SLT Club cab w/V8 and it has never let me down. And I don't baby it either. Have loaded and towed beyond capacity several times, corner faster than my wife likes me to and drive 85. I'd definitely buy another but currently no need to.

Richard..before this useless thread gets decapitated I just have to make a comment about voting. Seems that 40% or less of our citizens vote. I firmly believe that EVERYONE needs to be involved. 70% of our people are conservative to moderate but we are being led down the primerose path by the unelected bureacrats and liberal judges "legislating" from the bench.

We ALL have to get involved and VOTE!! Get rid of the filibuster's, put in the right candidates, and force them to follow the constitution to the letter. VOTE!! or don't complain about who's running things.

Denoace..welcome. I just have to put my 2cW in on the issue of durability. I wondered about the same thing and studied the engineering & design of HST systems. Assuming that the fluid is clean and no manufacturing defects, it looks like there are no significant wear issues with the hydro's, unlike a clutch. I believe you'd end up paying more in clutches over the life of the machine than repairs to a typical HST.

Also, the engine and drivetrain receive less "shock" with a hydro system than a clutch transmits. You also have an infinite speed range with the hydro's. I've found that to be a real plus. And the convenience and ease of use is a no brainer.

On the drag strip it's the guys with the "sticks" that break things more than the autotrans guys.

Personally, having run the geared tractors a fair amount, I don't look back.

I don't have an engineering degree and have never played an engineer on t.v. but it would seem to me that you are taking a bigger risk ridding around in the dark than drilling a couple of holes in the rops. I know on my tractor the rops has holes in it from the factory, you know the ones that the bolts go thru that mount it to the tractor. It is my belief that the recomendation to not drill holes in the rops has more to do with product liability than saftey. As with most products manufactured today it's rating is only a percentage of it's actuall duribility. For example my buddy has a b2200 with the same rops as my 2400. either his is overbuilt or Mine is under built.
I had to throw in my 2 cents worth. After my repairs it's all I had left...
I am designing a light bracket that attatches to the rops with no holes at all. When done I will post pictures and sign autographs!

I'm a little partial to the JD MX series rotary cutters because I got it as part of my package - they're double deckers and built like tanks. But there are other good cutters for less money. With the amount of property you have you'd probably want at least a medium duty cutter. Land Pride makes good stuff so you might look at those.

I can't see why your rear blade wouldn't work.

Ya gotta have a loader. They're a must - once you have one you won't know how you lived without. If it were me and the budget only allowed X dollars I'd rather have a TC30 or TC33 with loader than a TC35 or TC40 without. I use the loader all the time when bush hogging - put it in front to knock down the heavy stuff before driving over it. I drive over heavy vine maples and scotch broom that I'd never drive over without a bucket in front to knock it down first. Most everyone here would tell you that they use their loaders more than anything else. I know I do.

I live near Cleveland and plowing this week has really been a bear. After stopping many times to warm my hands under the exhaust, I felt like I could spit ice cubes. It's been single digits to mid teens and windy. We may see 30 F for Super Sunday!!

Any of you who are interested, just give me a holler. I can take lots of pictures, give you wiring diagrams, and walk you through building your own. After doing it once, and realizing how it is done, it's not to bad at all. Trivial compared to figuring out which hydraulics I need to add to my new tractor. :)

Seriously, I find that there is a middle ground in doing the CNC retrofits. There are people who buy turn-key packages (mill, electronics, software, CAD) and then there are people who are interested in building every part from scratch. I started out the scratch route, and realized that while I enjoyed building circuits, soldering, etc, I was really wanting to start making metal chips. I ended up floating in between - Buying motor drives, soldering my own cables and connectors, and installing the EMC software myself. When I did it, EMC was kinda a tough install, but now, download or mail order the BDI disk, put it in the CD rom, let it boot and install, and you are done.

I'm starting my big construction project right now, but in 7-9 months, I'll be re-assembling my mini mill in my new shop :) I'll photograph everything and post it up to follow.

we did about six miles of old gravel roads with chip seaql. They lay down type 80, then spred 3/4 stone, roll it, spread down type 70, lay dwon 1/2 inch stone, roll it, then type 70 again and lay down 1/4 chip stone. It sounds like a long process, but reqlly isn't. Of course we dealt with a company (All State) that this is all they do. As far as chip sealing, (3 stone layers) over well used gravel roads, this all I would ever do again. On previous highway budgets, some gravel roads were paved over with asphalt.. Come winter/spring season, many had stones come up and tear the asphalt which means pot holes anad pot hole patches.. With a gravel road that is chip sealed, if a stone comes up, 99% of the time, it does not tear, but rather moves like an elastic band. Only down side found with this system is the first four or so days. If a young teen wnats to "burn out" on newly laid chip seal, it can cause immediate erosion of product. If no one burns out first four days, you will get many years service from the chip seal system..

I just installed a step on my 770 to make it easier to get onto. I dont know why JD didnt put them on in the first place. I ordered the step (which comes on the 790's) from my local dealer (JD # AM880256 ) for $41.59. Installation is easy, drill two holes, four M8 bolts and nuts. This makes getting on and off so much easier. Although I think the reason that the previous owner sold it was in part because of the high step up to get on. Being somewhat young or close to it, I can see that getting on the tractor could be a pain as the years roll on.

The 547 is an excellent baler. It is pretty large to be pulled by most compact tractors. Deere lists a minimum PTO HP of 45. You don't say if you are looking at new or used, but I think a new one goes for close to 15 grand.

As a new owner I suggest you read your manual. It should discuss the diff lock feature. An important thing to note when using this is that you won't have steering control as both rear wheels are driving with no slip.

I was explaining what a limited category 1 hitch was. I simply stated it had the pin size of a category 1 but the lift arm spacing of a category 0. They are sort of a cross between a category 1 and 0.

After millions of miles on other airlines I decided to fly Southwest to Seattle last month. I needed to take the Yorkie with us so we bought an airline bag, Samsonite, approved by all the Airlines.<br>
I purchased my tickets on the internet and looked for the policies on animals, none to be found. After they had my taken my non refundable money the policy came up; "We do not transport animals!!!" Well alot of airline will not transport animals in the hold anymore but will allow small dog in the cabin, so no worries.<br>
I check in with the dog bag on my shoulder no problem. On the end of the forth flight (normal SWA delay etc.) the dog squeaks and the cabin stewards notice the dog; "Sorry we do not allow dogs on the plane" What do I do? I am now in Seattle. No answer. See what happens at check in.<br>
Return to flight after 3 weeks, I am running late and take dog directly to plane, land in Nashville. Plane delayed again. Take dog out of airport for walk. Bring him back and the SWA lady gestopo spots the dog and decides that we have been hiding him. I explain what happened and how their web site is as clear as mud about their policies. She decides it is a federal case and threatens to leave us a 35 mins flight from home.<br>
I head down to the other airline counters to see if there is another option. Guess what SWA tickets are toilet paper on the other airlines. They have no reciprical agreements with the other carriers.<br>
Sweet not only are they habitually late but your non refundable tickets are non transferable, one small step above a cheap holiday charter (Arrow Air or Air Florida?).<br>
Well they eventually allowed us on the late flight after I kissed the dragon ladie's ring. "Caveat emptor" on the internet SWA ticketing.<br>
After 5 or 6 clicks and knowing where to look I did find the policy on animals. You have to use SWA search engine. If this is up front, I'll go back and kiss the other end of the dragon lady? I refrained to on the first go round although it was indicated that it would go easier on me if I did.
