I had the same problem with my 790 (it had the Hibernator battery with six screw on caps). After cleaning and repainting the battery area, I just took measurements and went to Walmart and picked up a sealed battery that would fit and had the terminals in the right location. Unfortunately, the first one went bad after about 3 months but Walmart replaced it free and have had no problems since.

Check and clean your battery compartment after each use

Richard, I have been in a food fight or two in my time on this board and far be it from me to point any finger of blame. Your experience, knowledge and input is very welcome here and I for one learn from and enjoy your posts a great deal as I do Murf's as well. I consider both of you friends. I can understand giving as good as you get and sticking up for yourself but this post in my opinion steps over the line with respect to language. I would appreciate it if you would reconsider your comments and perhaps "reword" them. I think it would be best for the board and all concerned. I am not taking any sides; just that curse words and the terms used here have no place on this board. Yeah, we all use them from time to time in a moment of anger (at least speaking for myself especially when driving in city traffic). If you and Murf choose to continually slug it out; that is between the two of you. I hate to see it to be honest and would hope you two could find a happy medium. But those terms and words just don't belong here and they harm you as much as they do this board Richard. Again, I would thank you for your reconsideration of the wording of this post. Thanks.

I had your same problem earlier in the season. Several here suggested shortening the toplink. That didn't completely work for me, but I was able to find a shorter toplink from my dealer. That helped a lot!

Great ideas here! Just arrived home and had to dig the mailbox out again, had a nasty-gram in there from the carrier. Now I thought it was in pretty good shape, totally out of the snow bank with the door about a foot from the edge of the road, but they want the whole runway (read shoulder of the road) plowed. I clean the damn thing every weekend, don't need their form letters. We have had so much snow here my tractor will not pile it any higher, had to start moving it down the "runway". Probably should have held back a bit on all that Christmas tip!

Now that's off my chest, I will go for the carb. I just have a hard time believing that no matter how badly it is screwed up the thing won't fire up for a few revs with gas poured in the cylinder. I did check the walls, the thing is old but not much use, not even a ridge from wear. Since it is tipped forward while I am working on it, plenty of oil on the cylinder wall so that is not a concern now. This is the second time today the bowl and needle have been mentioned, hope that is the culprit. Thanks again everyone!

I just bought a set of gauge wheels for my King kutter rake they seemed expensive to me ($185.00)but what a differance they make. Now raking my gravel drive is very easy and it does a beautiful job. They might make a set for there blades here is their # 800-228-2308

I finally got to try my "murf" pipe out today. We got 6" of snow last night. I have 300' of gravel drive and a parking area about 200' x 100' also gravel. The pipe worked pretty well, much better than the bucket alone. Without the pipe when the the bucket hits a high spot it tilts foward and digs in gouging the stone. With the pipe the bucket just stays level and flatens out the high spot. I just put down 105 tons of stone this summer and was trying to move as little stone as possible. I am glad that I welded the handles on to the bolts holding the pipe on, it seems to loosen and needs to be tightened periodically. I don't have to bother with wrenches. I think I am going to start marketing and selling the new improved "Dr-Murph" pipe. LOL

Grinder you'll probably get the best results if you hook on the rough end. The rough or ripple cutters were designed to cut up sod soil and the ripple acts as traction to keep the cutters turning.

if you are on virgin ground, not plowed, you will have to add lots of weight to get some action. But start light and add as necessary to get as deep as you need to then you'll have to start taking some off as the ground loosens.

BTW these are calls disks, harrows have spring teeth and you drag them around.

Amen, Chief. I'm getting close to the 50 hr mark on my 2210.To this day I still do my own oil changes in my personal vehicles. Don't want to trust stuff to someone I don't know. There are exceptions (diligent service people), but you have to find them first.

Can anyone give me a price on a 750 with turf tires, 60" belly mower and aprox 1500 hours? Also what year is the tractor and its rated hp.? Also are there any known major problems with the 750 version? Thanks for any knowledgable help as I know nothing about these tractors.

The Field Manual is great. Plenty of learning to be done on my part now. I think it will help a lot with the files from Tom and Murf.
I hope this thread gets the attention of the 'home made' buffs, cause my previous web searches for info were spectacularly unsuccessful.

k9, Whatever you buy I would make sure that you can get the RPMs LOW enough. My floor model doesn't turn below about 200 rpm and that is way too fast for any drilling over 1/2 inch. If you always drill smaller holes it doesn't matter but a 3/4 inch bit will just chatter.

Will the 1914 work well with the KK48" gear driven tiller...Most of the tilling will be with sandy soil....with a little clay..This is a solid tiller....

Statistics show that farming is the second most dangerous occupation in the U.S. Having grown up on a farm I know more than a half dozen farmers in a small geographical area that have lost either an arm or several fingers. One guy got caught on the PTO shaft with his shirt and it pulled his face in and did allot of damage while also removing an ear.

In almost every case, they were in a hurry to get something done. Take your time doing what you are doing, enjoy the seat time and always think of what you are doing and act on the side of caution.

I can never emphasize "Safety" enough to all of you guys out there with a tractor, particularly those who are new to the hobbie.

In addition to bailing, sickle bar mowers are also very dangerous. Allot of farmers have three legged dogs. Be real careful with your blower or tiller. If either ever gets plugged, you don't just disengage the drive, you shut off the tractor!
