I know those round bales roll real easy. We had a bailer caught on fire while bailing. The farmer released the bail to prevent the bailer from burning up. The baler was on a hill so the bale rolled down the hill. Catching the field on fire. Then rolled acrossed the street and caught another field on fire. The fire spread across the field and caught the 200 foot long by 3 bale high pile on fire. 8 hours later and 42 pieces of fire equipment we put it out. What a mess. Didn't help the fire was right were 4 different fire districts come together so everybody thought they were in charge. First time i ever saw 5" supply line laid for a brush fire.

Well if it was Chief he would have to have a cap for all appropriate family members, as well as a jacket and two coffee mugs. On the serious side if the offers are done on the money then how about a free fifty hour service as well as products to do it at the next interval. A can of touch-up paint or two or an extra set of hitch pins a drawbar pin for your trailer. How about an extra set of blades for the mower for spares. You can ask and the worst you might here is no! Do you need a new chain saw?

Go to the John Deere website where you can price and configure the tractor the way you want and subtract about 20% from MSRP. Figure between $2950 - $3200 for the FEL. (varies from area to area)

Your 790 require a BCI Group 22NF battery. The same size battery as my 4410 requires. They are really odd ball sized and these are about the only sealed batteries I have been able to find to date.

Murf,

The comment about how cold it is here was a joke. I've spent enough time in places where it gets to 0 to appreciate what some of you guys are going through this winter. I have to admit I've never been in anything like where you're at. The amazing thing here is when it snows it shuts down everything - schools, businesses, municipal offices. Cities south of Dallas don't have anything except sanding trucks and 90% of the population have no clue how to drive on snow or ice. The prevailing thought is if you have 4WD you're OK. I usually pass tons of them in the ditch on the rare occasion when it does snow.

Here's hoping for an early spring thaw.

I nave finally given in a bought a 60" rear blower-this winter has been a killer & I have no more room to push snow & we are not going to get a much deserved January thaw so I will fight the battle a different way

Here is a list of checks I have done:

Had head off, cleaned and inspected. While it was off I watched the operation of the valves and in fact checked to see that the plug was firing on the down-stroke after the intake stroke.

I removed the inspection plate and examined the valve springs and lifter clearance in operation. All appears to be good.

I cleaned the flywheel, adjusted the gap in the magneto with .015 stock (a guess at the gap adjustment, sort of an average among various engines). I set the points at .020 after determining the timing, again a guess as there are no markings on the flywheel or block to reference.

The unit has a new plug set at .035 and the spark appears strong. I will try the gap adjustment Tom suggested.

I sparingly used starting fluid knowing of the inherent danger of this stuff. When I shot a small amount it the carb intake it backfired. After I performed all the above operations, I dripped a bit of gas into the plug hole and tried to start it. All I got is a backfire through the carb again. I am running out of ideas, the valves are no different than they were when it was running except perhaps a bit cleaner.

If you go to google and type in "Hydraulics for dummies" you will find allot of people are asking for the same thing you are. I didn't find anything by skimming over the first few pages. If you type in "basic hydraulics" you may find several books or courses. The bottom of the first page showed a CD-rom as being available.

Don't know exactly what you are looking for, maybe I can help. Are you putting a loader, BH or log splitter circuit in? Are you trying to read a hydraulic schematic diagram?

Temp. sticks are the way to go,as far as the alumn. goes,probably just real hand warm is all you need,if stick welding,we never even preheatif ambient is 50 or around there when miging around 3/8 thick.<br>

There are other reasons to preheat Blizzard, then to just dry water off surface,so your water boil reference may have meaning but there is more to it then that. Richard

Pulse charging is not new, but is not generally necessary for lead acid batteries. They say in their ad that sulfation is the leading cause of failure, but I tend to think that it is from losing water (over charging) or being overly discharged. <br>

The battery manufacturers all call out a 13.8 volt continuous float charge. Deep cycle batteries do have a few quirks that I can research for you if you want, but I would go with a more conventional setup and a 13.8 volt constant voltage float. <br>

I use a solar panel on my vehicles sometimes that will provide a daytime trickle charge. If I remember correctly, the quirk on the deep cycle batteries is with respect to trickle charging rather than float charging. The solar panel that I use is small and does little charging, but it will run the alarm system and other idle electronics and reduce power drawn from the battery.
