In our old house, we had a Rinnai ventless radiant heater. It heated our whole house and used 'very' little propane. This would be ideal for a garage also.

I'm not sure about prices in the upper mid west but here in Central NYS Natural gas has almost doubled in just over a year and propane is 1.25-1.40 a gallon+or- depending on the season. My Oil is locked this year at 1.34.<br>

I use 300 or so gallons of heating oil and probably 200 of that goes into tractor. I burn 15 or so face cords. My full replacement home insurance is 400 a year.<br>

So not counting my time, I heat this dump 3500+ sq ft 12' ceilings down stairs for about 350 at year, that includes all gas, oil and chain loops for cutting wood. We have neighbors that burned that much in just Dec and part of Jan this season.<br>

I do like mufrs explaination of coal. I have a wood/coal furnace. In order to burn coal I'd have to change the damper system to a different style. I do not believe it is a good idea to switch back and forth between wood and coal in the same stove.<br>

The other big draw back to coal is: if you get a couple of warm days mid 30's I'd have to start opening windows you just do not shut down coal very easily.

Another cheap throw away drag is a wooden pallet,pile a few good size rocks on it and go. I found an 8' and lift the front edge a little works good.<br>
Have any of you stone drive owners ever tried adding jaw fines or (crusher dust) to your drive? I have seen that work as a good binder,<br>
Might get a pick load and try it in a small area.<br>
The one that comes to mind turn to a cement like finish.May take a couple <br>
of applications as it works its way in.<br>

I found the perfect tractor, Lenar. Yes it is a new tractor, yes it is manufactured in China,(as is many compacts), yes it is still unproven. But, for the money I found it to be the best value. Yes it will do all of the things you want it to do!
Ah....remember the simpler times when there were only a few manufacturers to choose from? The world she is a changing, now you have a large selection of makes, models, styles, options and prices to choose from.

I am looking for a service/repair manual for my C144 (in english). I have the parts manual (japenese). I busted the 3pt lift handle were it enters the hydraulic case. Base on the parts manual figures it looks like replacing the short pin that enters the hydraulic case is rather involved, ergo my search for a shop manual. I have been told the MF1010 is the same as the C144. Based on the MF1010 owners manual I have they are similar but not all features are identical. I have found the MF1010 shop manual on the web for $139 and a MF repair manual for $21. Does anyone know if these manuals will work for the C144. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the feedback. The altenator belt seems pretty tight. Noticed today that it is acting up more then usual. Maybe it will eventually do it all the time so I can find the problem. Hate electrical problems...I think I would almost prefer for something to break. Then at least you know what to fix. I think my next step is to check the output on the altenator and see if it is consistent. One last thought, this is happening when blowing snow, wonder if snow could get on the belt and cause it to slip...kind of a long shot.

As every thing gets more technical I wonder if a modification that would jepardize a OSHA certification would justify an Insureance payout? The modifications may not have made a difference for the situation but why chance it?

Check out my rig, it did great job to day. I did 12 accounts today with it and had no problems. The loader and rear blower combo is the best of both worlds in the same machine.

So I took delivery of my 4330 and goodies yeaterday, and have had a chance to test everything out. Box blade works great, backhoe is fantastic, and the loader is strong. But the post hole digger is woefully ineffective. It's a rhino, RPHD with a 9" auger. In the softer soil at one end of my property, it will start and I'm able to go down about 8-10". On a rockier area, I start it, and it bounces and groans and mostly losens the dirt and swirls it around. Pulling the tractor out and shutting it down, I can go in by hand with a thin shovel and dig the dirt out - It's packed/compressed, hard but diggable.<br>
(No deeper than 8" or so).<br>

The auger has two replaceable cutting edges (brand new) with a fish flute point in the center. I can see how people get all jacked up with these things - When they don't dig, I imagine people want to jump on the back and push them in. (My neighbor is an ER doc and has told me horror stories about 3pt post hole diggers).<br>

So at this point, I'm thinking that I picked the wrong kind of digger for what I need to do. Obviously, my ground is a lot harder than normal 3pt diggers typically work in.<br>

My dealer said if the 3pt didn't work out, he'd help me out if I wanted to trade up to something else. I have the quick tach on the front of my 853 loader, and I have the BH90 backhoe. <br>

With all the rocks in my area, I'm thinking now having a hydraulic drive would be smart, since I can back it out if needed with power. <br>

So do I mount a hydraulic PHD on the bucket, on the quick tach (skid steer mount) or off of the backhoe? Which options are going to cost what. I guess I need to add a hydraulic circuit to drive it too. My dealer is quoting ~2500 to get it plumbed and attached to the quick tach, but I see quick tach units on Fleabay for ~1200, and I'd only need to add a hyd circuit.<br>

Guidance here? I'm going to be doing a lot of PHD work, so I think I overestimated the capabilities of the typical 3 pt PHD. Any recommendations on cutting heads, flutes, sizes, and prices? 2500 seems like a lot, but if that is what it's going to take to work....<br>

I'll post pictures soon. The BH90 dug my septic profile pit in 15 minutes in the same rocky soil. If I can get my perc holes drilled with the PHD, I'll save $500 off the bat in perc truck, only having to hire the engineer to come on site.
