BR, that is an interesting question about the beer,I got to tell you though that I have never noticed it,mine don't get that chance generally,so thats probably why. No generator will completely contain the magnetic field within the generator casing. It only takes a little residual magnetism to get the generation process started. The previous link is correct in all ways, but I would be tempted to try a strong permanent magnet attached to one side of the generator housing during a startup to see if that would cause enough field imbalance to start the generation process. It is much easier to do and cost virtually nothing. You can remove the magnet if the generator comes back to life.

After the generator will start to generate a magnetic field, it will excite the generator into operation. The generator was probably neutralized by one or more overloads that caused the AC fields to collapse. This is a secondary safety factor beyond the circuit breakers. If this happens again, I would consider getting a larger generator unit.

Terry... my impression is that they are selling us the tractors designed/sized for Chinese farming.

Much the same as the first Kubota's and Yanmars that came through the pipe were really just Japanese farm tractors that didn't have modern three point hitches and such.

In fact most were quite underpowered with 2 cylinder 12-14 hp engines and really were not well suited to the uses we put CUT's to, such as brush hogging and blowing snow.

I suspect when the Chinese get the feedback from this marketplace they will respond with 20 hp, 2000# machine with all the fixings. They are already making stabs at the 4 wheeler/ATV market..... so someone over there is paying attention.

Harvey, the one pictured is mine, it was inherited sort of, it belonged to an older gent who was a nieghbour and good friend for many years, it was 'factory built' by a local welder/inventor who was VERY well known for his quality.

I have tried it myself, and I can tell you, fabulous is a good word for it, as long as you know it's limitations. In fact I loaned it to a friend of mine at my cottage one year, he used it to keep about 2 miles of private lane open with an 8N, he said it was cold & slow work, but it did it just fine.

The big advantage of these units is how little power it takes to run them, this particular unit is 6' wide and I have tried it on machines as small as a L245, and it worked just fine, mind you that was only about 6" of poweder snow.

They're dead simple to build but I'm not sure I would want to try running a fan as large as a silage blower, and cutting it down would be almost as much work as starting from scratch.

The relative tire sizes MUST be matched or you risk damage to the drive train.

Right now you have an 18 inch front tire matched to a 26 inch rear. If you found a 21 inch tall front tire you wanted you would have to change to a 30.5 inch tall rear tire to keep everything in sync.

I haven't looked that closely at a 2210, but most sub-compacts I have seen don't have much room under the fenders for bigger tires.

I assume CR tire = Cedar Rapids Tire? If so, I am not finding the Big Biters you are referring to.

I'm quite familiar with them, I built a cross-cut (chop-saw) using the same setup for firewood production at the farm a few years back. It is a good setup.

For the life of me I cant figure out why people fiddle around with those bandsaw mills, those little blades save you little wood, but the cost and maintenance is ridiculous compared to a circular blade. I've designed and built a few but I wouldn't have one myself.

Lot of people here know implements much better than I do. Generally I think that a 5' cutter for my 24 pto hp would be limited to fairly light duty work or the going would be pretty slow. If I had one it would be a 3ph pto drive type. I don't know if you're thinking of a ground or pto driven type when you say 'pull behind.' For ground drive, there may be the question traction over and above that of hp. Somebody else likely will have more to say.

Never bought a tractor, purchased 7+ acres. Need mainly for mowing fields and possible snow removal. Any suggestions on size, brand, etc...

I assume it is a wide front end? If so jack the right (broken) side up as high as it will go. Use a hard wood block on the left side between the frame and the axle try to fill as much space as you can. It will get you loaded. Block up the right side to transport.

I hope for your sake that you are correct. I ordered a $3000 item from Northern Hydraulics 4 years ago. When I needed a part for it, I was informed that they didn't supply parts for it any more. When I got in touch with the distributer , they told me the part was no longer available. There were alot of Rhino tractors (Chinese) sold in the US . When the Alamo group, which was the US distributer, decided they were not getting a good enough return , they dropped out of the tractor business. Try getting parts for a Rhino. I've heard this story over & over. Some company is selling a tractor. They have a million dollar parts inventory, but when they go broke or decide to get out of the business that million dollar isn't worth anything.

No, the rear tires are not loaded and I don't have any weights on the tractor. I've thought about having the implement shop come out and add ballast to hold me down - but that thought has been mulled around for two years and I still haven't done it. There have been a couple times I had a "moment" I wish I had em filled.

As far as the bolts as mentioned by Abbey - he is definately right in that department. I make it a habit that during heavy use (not much of that but sometimes) I try to check the engine mount bolts every couple weaks. They do back out - and I have yet to find anything that will keep them in there - no locktite has not worked for me. If you read the postings in here about that - you will notice that most owners do note that issue of the bolts backing out.

Yeah,my nortrac has an adjustable stopper on the 3 point lever so you can lower it to what ever height you got it set for. As far as transporting,its intended to be picked up rear wheel off the ground far enough to where it don't hit the ground,but you can pull it also,wouldn't want to go very far down the blacktop like that though. I hardly ever raise mine unless I'm going through a big dip,course I stay on grass.I don't have no guards on mine either,but I mainly just cut weeds and grass over the same areas,if you were really brushoging you might want something,or cutting on ground that may have something hidden in the grass that could get you. Cut with mine level also. Richard

Is there anyone who can tell me how to flash a generator to restore a generator so it will work, everything checks out to be good the windings, the amature,the capacitors,<br>
diode's but only 4v ac and 1v dc,i was told ther was a way to restore the manetism to the unit by flashing, but the process was not explained to me, need help have to units and both have same problem,and everything in both units check the same,but can't find anything wrong.

I am not sure how they are special. If you look at the web site the 902 has about 21HP at 3200 RPM's, the 905 is about 22HP at 3200 RPM's. I basically asked how could these engines be the same? Maybe thats why I got the call.
He just claimed they are the same specs in the tractor. I have his phone number and extension and I can call him back at anytime. Based on what I could see from the Kubota Engine web site, I would much prefer to have the 905. More torque and HP. I am all for low emissions, but I would rather have more HP and torque. Thoughts?

The local guys usually have to charge a bit more to keep their service departments open and staffed. Parts inventory and service take money. The out of state guys don't have to service the machines they sell which gives them a price advantage, but it's my opinion that it's penny wise and pound foolish to drive the local guys out of business by shopping purely on price. Somebody has to service your tractor.

I wasn't realy comparing tractors with skidders,however 5/16-3/8 cable has the same potental as 5/8 in reguards to snapping,fraying, maint ect.
I have seen 1/4 snap and cut overhead garage doors in HALF !!!!!!!!!!! LUCKY ,NO ONE WAS ARROUND !!!!!
