Check out the nortrac tractors made in china,you can buy a new one 25h.p. 4wd for 8,ooo. Comes with a 6 months parts and labor warrenty,sold by northern tool,a company thats been in business for years. I have one,now got 173 hrs on it,in a little over a year and am satisfied. I do not work for northern. They sell packages,[loaders,hoes,etc.], HI grinder. Richard

Gemplers or Hey Wheel should be able to provide the rims at a reasonable cost.... maybe $75 each or there-abouts. The tires will be a bit more pricey but also not hard to find.

This is on a JD 4610 eHydro, pulling a Preifert Offset Litter Saver with the tailgate open about 4". The depth of the litter runs around 6" +/-. Engine RPMs set at 21 to 2,200, toggle between medium and low range.

I've tilled 6 to 8 hours straight, in 90 to 100+ degree weather. Done this numerous times with no overheating problem.

One more thing. I had a JD 4600 gear before the now 4610 hydro. I couldn't tell any difference in the temp.

Hard to help without lots more info. I have a MF 1260 which is a close relative, and in 6 1/2 or so years it has been 100% reliable. I do not have a backhoe on that tractor.
First is this tractor a hydro and are you saying it won't go when you want it too?
Small backhoes will not do the work of a Case 480. They can be very frustrating if attempting more than designed for or if bucket is too big for digging conditions. The fact that you've broken pins would suggest that backhoe is being used beyond it's capability.
Anything you do at this point is likely very costly. Very sorry to hear about your problems.

Thanks, pretty much what I thought. I wouldn't be using it heavily, but the draw is still a concern. Is there a larger alternator that could be used on this tractor? I think I've read some discussions about that. I believe the 2910 has a better alternator.

Scott, have you checked the resistance of the block heater with a voltmeter? Call your Ford dealer and ask them what the acceptable resistance range readings should be. At least if the cord things does not pan out you can isolate and verify the problem before you take it into the shop. Sorry again to hear you are having such a run of luck. No block heat really sucks in these temps.

Could anyone tell me the proper oil filter # for a YM155D tractor. I have purchased 3 different brands from 3 dealers, all different #,s and 1 does not fit at all.<br>
The other 2 are Carquest # 85064 and Wix # 51334. <br>

Now that sound like a real good reason to be away for the Board. Our neighbour usually goes a bit south to where he grew up and brings back deer that feed in corn fields down there. It makes better sausage than our bush fed deer here but any is better than none. Other neighbours went north and brought back four caribou between two of them. Another neighbour went as well haven't heard how he did. Anyway we're likely to be knee deep in caribou sausage around here and it is really out of this world. Oh boy is that stuff (vension included) good!

I think Murf is far more up on these sorts of applications than I am, and I may say some really dumb things. I imagine that there are ways other than hydraulic motors for doing things and some may be better applications.

I imagine you'll be wanting to run a carriage foreward at a constant slow speed with managed pressure and have a higher reverse speed. I'm not sure if you're thinking of using a variable displacement motor to manage the speed with a constant flow or a fixed displacement motor and manage the flow externally. I think either are feasible. I should reread Murf's comment carefully but I think he pointed out that very slow speeds from motors are not very efficient and I that's true far as I know.

The formulas on the site solve for flows required to produce given output HP and required input HP as well. Some overall efficiency assumptions are required. I forget if there are formula that go to torques directly or if you have to do your own conversions. I'd probably start off thinking about it in terms of the force needed on the carriage and required speed to get HP and then work backwards to the motor through any gearing and drive losses. I may see what I can come up with. One advantage of a pto pump is that more of the engine's power can be put into a pump than from most tractor hydraulics.

If you can hook the log up short enough (no slack) a 3pt can lift the butt end of almost any log an inch or two which transfers most of the weight of the log to the tractor. The center of gravity is still kept low. The ability to hookup short is where a chain works better than a cable (unless it's used with a winch). If the logs have a diameter so big that you can't lift them then you're probably asking too much from a compact.

$It's good to periodically check tightness of most everything, especially the loader mounts and also inspect for stress fractures around welded joints. I do that about twice a year and more often for wheel lugs. For inspecting the loader frame, I alternately lift the front wheels and hold down pressure to spread any cracks that I might otherwise miss. I like low pressures during the winter because they increase traction until the pressures become so low that the tread on the ground distorts. I think that R4's are less tolerant that other tires to low pressures due to their stiff sidewalls. From somewhere I think I've heard of radial R4's and such a thing might be more flexible. Inner tubes, higher pressures or sealer likely are far cheaper solutions than new tires though.$ Cold weather flat

Corriher bids their shipping out to independent freight contractors. Your tractor might arrive in a closed-van 18 wheeler, a flat bed truck, or pehaps some kind of trailer pulled by a pick-up, depending on who gets the bid. The delivery vehicle may or may not have ramps. Corriher told me at the time the shipment was being bid-out that I should make arrangements for a tilt bed car carrier to be available should the tractor arrive on a truck without ramps. I made the arrangements, but as it ended up I didn't need the tilt bed carrier. The tractor arrived on a goose-neck trailer with a low back-end (about 2 ft off the ground). The trailer had no ramps but we backed it up to an embankment adjacent to my property and drove the tractor right off the trailer onto the embankment. It probably wasn't the ideal way to off-load a tractor, but things worked out ok.
