I could not wipe the VIN because it was stamped into the frame rail near the tongue, it was not on a plate. I had no trouble with the GVWR because the existing VIN number reffered to the original trailer as having a 10,000 lb GVWR, so they said as long as I hadn't changed the axles, springs, or brakes, the original weight would be used.

I forgot to add that I also spent $50 to have 2 pieces of sheet metal bent for the two fenders.

Green, you already have one of these devices.........you just don't realize it yet. ;o) The device does not activate until AFTER you are married. It becomes even more tempermental after the device has given birth to some baby devices. ;o)

I also have a two car attached garage that is isulated. I installed a 30,000 BTU forced air propane heater that hangs from the ceiling. I'm very happy with it. It's fairly quiet and gives me all the heat I need.

What kind of dolly do you have your BH on? You have any pictures? I would like to make something for my 48 BH to allow me to move it around the garage. I think it weights about 1000 pounds or so. I made a dolly for my box blade and that has worked out very well.

I think the 655 and 755 needs the m70, the 855 can take both the M70 and 70a, and the 955 needs the 70A. I don't know what the lift capacity, i never got an owners manual.

Harvey made a fine comment indeed, and definitely add that to the list of hinged cutter advantages. I hadn't thought of that. I know when I work my fixed cutter scraper my hand is seldom off the top-link control and I have to watch how the box is working almost constantly to adjust the rate of cut. It doesn't take much provocation for the rear cutter to get in the way and lift the front cutter. Then the cut turns into a drag and my nice grade gets messed up. Little provocation is needed for it to turn into a traction breaking gouge either.

Blade angle is almost everything in working a scraper and I seldom touch the 3ph. I don't know if a hinged cutter would eliminate the need for top-link adjustment to change from cut to drag to spreading actions, but being able to do that on the fly is almost everything for making a scraper useful. A hydraulic top-link might still be good to have with a hinged cutter but anything that would keep both my hands on the steering wheel and more time looking at where I'm going than at the box definitely would be good.

Hydraulic tilt would be nice but I have to get by with the 3ph side-leveler. I do have a crank adjust on the 3ph though.

A standard safety rule is 'never pull from anything except the drawbar.' A less rigid interpretation might be 'understand the risks when pulling anything but also understand that the risks are greater from anyplace but the drawbar.'

I know that the 3ph was mostly invented to reduce overturns due to unexpected draft changes. They work by allowing draft to pivot an implement on its lower link pins, which compresses the top-link. Compression on the top-link has some leverage that helps hold down the front of a tractor. It would also increase traction from the front axle on 4wd tractors. I'm thinking that it would be very good if log skidding from a 3ph would use a true 3ph type of attachment.

Most tractors have a main fuse for the fuse box. Mine has about as many blank slots as Harvey's but it also has a 30A fusible link for a main fuse. If the tractor's total electrical load exceeded 30A I'd have to install a separate fuse bus and power it directly from the battery through an in-line fuse.

Some water pumps have ports for connecting to a hot water heater. Sounds like a nice thing to have especially if the tractor is already set up for one.

Morning Pete and pretty good points! Just yesterday I ran into my favourite contractor/trucker. some years before I knew him his equipment bit him. He ended up in ICU with broken everything. He wasn't expected to live let along walk again. He did and returned to work and remains the best artist with his JD tracked high hoe that I've ever seen. We can't all expect to be as lucky or tough as he is and I hope you brother in law's outcome is as good. Sticking within recommendations is good advice. I also have to keep my posts shorter, which is good advice for me.

Thanks for your addition of the stirring idea in our theoretical discussion. The idea did come up in passing and it likely should be added to the list of positive factors where flow does increase dissipation. The negative one, which is an increased base load on teh system likely cfan be ignored for practical purposes. However, in an extreme situation such as the hydraulics are loaded to the point the relief valve opens oil may not heat up as fast at lower rpm's. But that's more theory than practical and practically more flow likely runs cooler.

One clarification is that I think the Kubota statement under discussion is to avoid low rpm's, which the quite same as a recommendation to run at pto rpm. I think most tractors and hoes work fine under most working conditions over a fair range of rpms. I know I did quite a bit of trenching when I first got my hoe around 1500 rpm. I had to slow the how way down till I developed a few skills. Now I run at pto rom most times. My skills of course will never rival my favourite artist contractor's.

The key is the operator. The amount of experience one has in a using both your tractor and a tiller is where you gain the knowledge to bet operate the combination unit. Ground speed, engine speed, soil type and tillage depth all have to do with how the operator will use the tiller. Look for a tiller in your tractor's HP range. Trust the MFG because they have likely tested and know what is a safe capable HP range of operation. There are many good choices or tillers out there, I hope you at least look at the CCM Gear Drive tillers.

I'm pretty sure this can be used to run a 12V motor for a sprayer or fertilizer. I installed one on my JD 445 for that purpose.

Good morning Carlos. As Chief said Shibaura made many of the Ford compact Tractors--especially the engines. Today, New Holland supplies parts and service for the Fords. If there is a New Holland dealer where you are they may be able to advise you properly.

I have a Ford 1710 myself and your tractor may be similar. I can describe how to change the oil on my 1710 and that might help but your tractor may be different than mine. I use New Holland F200 oil in the transmission and front axle. If the winters were warmer here I'd use New Holland 134D oil which meets specifications for many tractors. As Chief mentioned, there are many oil brands that also meet 134D specifications.

To change my oil transmission oil I drain the transmission by removing the fill cap on top of the transmission under the seat and a hex-head plug (like a bolt or screw) on the bottom of the transmission near the middle. It contains 26 liters so a large pan is needed. I finish draining it by removing two hex-head plugs toward the rear of the transmission. They are very low and on each side. Finally I remove and install a new filter. There are two filters on the engine. The hydraulic filter is the larger one of the left side of the tractor. I pump new oil into the fill hole under the seat. Refilling the transmission without a pump would be difficult because the hole is small and the oil containers are large and may lack a pour spout.

This sounds like a real interesting application that might get me away from my usual theory stuff. I don't have enough time to get my mind around the idea right now and maybe more later if that's useful. For the moment, the site below goes to a set of hydraulic formula that can solve some of the problems. I fish through them later and see what I might solve.

If a basic open center system is used there's going to be the problem of controlling flow to control speed. There's also the problem that pressure is developed by the load rather than the pump and the load changes. Off hand, I think there are enough specialty valves to solve the problem. Flow can be proportioned. Different flows and pressures can be created in various parts of a system and I think held constant but it does take specialty valves.

It'd be interesting to me to think about it and maybe the results would be useful but it should be kept in mind that I'm an amateur w/o and engineering background. Wish I knew of a web site that describes the various types of valves available.

In addition to Mark's very practical consideration, some compacts also have ground clearance problems. Some 3ph's won't lift some larger augers high enough for the auger tip to clear the ground. Most augers have three mounting positions for the yoke that adjust the auger height and that cures most clearance problems. No guarantees though. My dealer shipped the auger to me with an understanding that I could return it if there wasn't enough clearance.
