Rat,I guess it all depends on how big you tedder is,as far as weight its rated for about 900lbs at the three point,some have said they have picked up a good deal more than that though,but unless I had a loader on the front of it with some dirt in the bucket,I don't think I would want to try. Have you seen one of these jinmas close up?,they are not what I'd call a compact tractor,they are a small tractor for sure,but not compact so they are taller then a compact,which might mean that they will pick it up high enough? The best compact tractor?One of the big three probably,but if you don't need a jaguar,and a ford will do,then get the ford,it also depends on how much you are planning on using it etc. And how much money you got to spend. BTW, you won't even miss the 2210 once you get a couple of hours of seat time on the 4115. It is a marvelous machine.

check your air cleaner and also check for water in your gas.
remember water is heavier than gas, it will accumulate in the bottom of your tank. when you move your tractor, you are shaking up your gas. hope this helps!!

anybody out there have a service manuel, or info on this tractor? i don't have any problems with it, but maintenance questions i do have!!!.<br>
it's very strong and in perfect shape.<br>
original owner's daughter he never had, thats what he told me after i offered him cash for it when it was not for sale.<br>
but i got it!! 625hrs. all paper work and manuels was in a barn fire. when he was on the tractor pulling his wife out of a mud-bog 10 years ago. any info will help. thanks john

I have the 4100 gear and I was curious on the PTO functionality. I have yet to use a PTO device, so I wasnt sure how well it does with the gear option. I didnt buy the machine new, even though it was never used (6.5 hrs) so the gear wasnt what I would have chosen if new, however it exceeded my doubts on all accounts..<br>
The machine with loaded tires with me dosent get stuck, and I find the rear blade (frontier) does very well on gravel driveways and real decent sized snow storms. You may have a bigger icing issue and steeper inclines so maybe chains would be needed. Otherwise you dont need the chains, plenty of weight and traction...with this weather I bet you are thinking heated Cab? I'm starting to actually think about it..<br>

The engine should be broken in by 50 hours. Request another mower or before you do that ask to go out onto the lot and have the dealer show you another tractor of the same model smokes the same way. I doubt it will. Then demand a new tractor or a WRITTEN lifetime warranty of the engine and any possible components it could damage in the event of a failure. Sounds to me like your dealer is peeing on your boots and telling you it is raining. Now might be a good time to make a deal on a bigger or different model you wish you had purchased originally as well! Good luck and don't buy into the dealer's BS.

The prices on machinery link look fairly accurate on older machines but high on newer machines.

Your local dealer would be glad to help you with your purchase. Do check prices as on another site people that wanted ag tires for there BX were being quoted 550 to 750 plus freight where we sold them for the retail at under 300.

I've got a Frontier BB1172. Seems to be pretty robust and it has done all I've asked of it, but I must admit I haven't really stressed it. I've never used a blade on the loader so not sure about that - sure would have been handy for our recent snows though. The box blade takes some getting used to but so do most implements. You've gotta develop a technique with all of 'em. The best thing for drive maintenance would probably be a drag scraper, which is a suspended blade riding on tires(check out Mark Hunstiger's pictures for one he made, but you can buy 'em). The problem with a drag scraper, though, is it's not as multi-purpose as a box scraper IMHO.

Chief -- When I priced out the components that were listed on the web site you sent me, the price I got from the dealer for that same package was within $30.... So I guess he is in the ballpark -- maybe he is a little over on the attachments (loader, blower, cutter)... But, I talked to him again last week, and he said that when we finalize things, he'll work the prices again to get me the best deal he can. Sounds reasonable to me.

kwschumm -- Thanx for the vote on the MX5 -- that helped sway my decision to it vs. the LX5.

kadorken -- I've been wrestling with the front vs. back-mounted blower. Bottom line is that for my 750' drive, I think I'd prefer going forward... It will be a bummer to have to switch implements if I need the loader, but so it goes...

As a general update -- I'm still working with the dealer, but we have had over a week of frigid weather here, with another week to go (-25F at the house again this morning). So, I haven't had a chance to test drive yet (the dealer got a 4310 w/ eHydro, R4's, and 430 loader in, and I want to go test it out). Hopefully next week we'll get back to the 20's or so and I can get down there. Maybe we'll close the deal then! Keeping my fingers crossed...

I agree, many people would want r4s for this tractor. I wish the chinese would come out with that option. I believe Mike Stuart had done some research on this, when he was selling Maverick tractors. People are not that interested in paying over $1000, for a wheel/tire option on these lowcost tractors. If you do find some that work, please post them over at www.ctoa.net, where it would be of great interest.

A couple of small points that may help some Tom.

First, yes less gallons could be a help to the cooling process, but circulation is more important. The more oil there is circulating, the more BTU's it can absorb and give off.

Secondly, a thick case is not necessarily a bad thing. Cast iron is a good conductor of heat and like all other things in nature wants to be at a uniform temperature throughout. Since one side of the cast iron is in contact with the hot fluid, and the other is exposed to much cooler air the heat energy is absorbed and given off at a fairly good rate. The fact that the casting is fairly thick only serves to make its capacity to absorb energy that much better since there is more of it.

Your comment about the internal mass, gears, etc., bring up another point. While it is true they will act as thermal storage, this is a 'double edged sword', it not only slows the dissipation of heat, it slows the accumuilation of heat too. Let me explain what I mean a little. If the entire mass of gears and the fluid are at a temp. of 180F. (for arguements sake only) and you start working and the oil starts to heat up, the gears which are running in that oil will start to absorb heat out of the oil since they are cooler. If the work is of a sporadic nature, like a B/H, as opposed to a constant load like a HST, then the internal mass will be a great help to stabilize the temperature, this in turn makes the overall cooling more efficient by making the temperature differential more uniform.

It all comes down to two big considerations, high flow rates to keep the heat moving, and dissipation for obvious reasons.

It was a common 'old timers' trick to route the oil return line to an oil cooler in the cab, or even just near the operator on an open station machine, a small 12v. fan would give the operator a LOT of heat and make a BIG difference in keeping the TDH fluid cool.

One local farmer near me brazed a length of steel line to a 2' x 2' steel plate, then mounted that an inch or so below the (bare steel) roof of his tractor's cab with a 12v. fan at the back blowing air forwards between the plate and roof and a set of hoses to put the whole setup inline with the return flow of oil from his loader. He claims it keeps the winows clear and him toasty warm even on the coldest days.
