Thanks guys. Is it worth it to use extra "booster" to get up to 50, or just use a standard dose for conditioning and get the slight cetane boost at the same time?

BTW, there isn't a shutoff between the tank and filter so it ought to be fun once I decide to tackle it.

AV8R, that's good to know. I like to see manufacturing stay here in the USA. Do you know what percentage of the NH tractors are made in USA? In cars and trucks it's easy cuz it's on the sticker, but tractors are another story.

I'm especially careful on THAT hill. It turns out that hill is the soil that was excavated from our basement. It's never been compacted so it gets REALLY soft when it's wet.

Vetcor: What is the overall height of the caster from floor to bottom of stand? Did you re-adjust (re-drill) the pin holes for the bottom position of the stands? when I put away my bagger for the winter the only way I could move it was to use a lift strap and my FEL, casters would make moving much easier!!

I think I have seen the multi-track tire in question recently on a new B7800.<br>

It has a "V" cross section like an R-1 and the shallow tread bars of an R-4. It appeared to only make ground contact with the center of the tread like an R-1 and I don't think it will make a very good snow/ice tire.<br>

The 2910 has an SUV size rim and studded radial snow tires from that market will slap right on to it.<br>

I wondered before if you might be comparing the tires to ag tires for cleat height? What I try to do with tires especially when there still is wear left is to make a deal to replace the tires at later date. Maybe at this time to look at an offer from the dealer to change them at 1/2 price when they are worn out.

Dumb question. Have you checked the fuel flow when you're actually on a hill? Maybe there's something about the fuel pickup that causes fuel starvation on an incline.

The King Kutter tillers work very well.
Most Tractor Supply stores carry them.
I have had a King Kutter II, 60" tiller for 4 or 5 years now.
No problems, tills great.

Anywhere there is much in the way of orchards, vineyards or both there is surely more than just a few Italian tractors and the dealers that sell and service them.

The Italians created this category of machine and are probably second only to the Japanese in terms of quality and experience.

They have models and features that just don't exist anywhere else to speak of. Things like 65 hp Agricultural tractors on steel tracks, complete with 3pth & PTO, talk about a bush machine at home on tough terrain!!

Several companies make timers designed to be permanently installed into a circuit. They are usually built into their own steel box and are serious heavy duty units, and have a manual over-ride feature, they are nothing at all like the cheap units designed to turn a table lamp on and off.

It would allow a photocell equipped light to get power only certain hours of the day by setting the 'on' time well ahead of dusk and off at bedtime. I put such a setup on the back of my house to light the dog run. It powers that circuit only between 2pm and 11pm, that way the run is lit between dusk and 11pm everyday, period. This way I don't have to fiddle with the time adjustment to keep the light coming on at the right time as the length of day changes, the time of day when it gets dark changes by more than 5 hours between the winter and summer solstices up here.

I have a 27HP Cadet which is the same as yours with different injection giving you 3 more HP. I have a single bottom moldboard plow. In low range with turf tires I can plow about 6-8 inches deep in heavy clay. In tough spots you can get quite a bit of wheel spin with turfs. I do allot of driving on my lawn and won't use R4's. I always have my FEL on as well. My plow is just a cheapy. You should buy one that has a coltier disc on it. That cuts the sod and corn stubble and gives good turnover coverage and a nice cut on the top soil. A gauge wheel is also nice when set to the max. down so the plow doesn't go to deep. A rear wheel isn't necessary. If you do allot of ploughing you may want this also. It also helps to keep the plow from going to deep, it helps keep it straight and runs over some of the loose dirt that falls in, packing it so you have a nice gulley for the next path.

A moldboard plow is nicer than a tiller when breaking new ground and you want to turn the soil. Fall plowing is better than spring plowing since you can get the decaying process started sooner. You won't drain the moisture out of the soil and in cool climates the freezing and thawing has a natural soil clump breaking up process. Many modern farmers are getting away from a moldboard plow and go to chisel plows. A tiller on the other hand can chew up debris and break-up clumps of soil. Each has merits. I sometimes use my brother-in-laws King Kutter 60", but usually in the spring just preparing the garden. It really makes the soil soft and fluffy.

I installed a sodium light at one of my rural properties and have a motion sensor with standard lightbulb on another. The sodium light has been there for about ten years, same bulb etc. without touching it. I'm not sure, but if it goes out like with an outage, it won't come back on by itself until it is ready. The unit should be mounted quite high to give a nice umbrella of coverage. The slight orange glow doesn't seem to glare back into the windows. Critters don't seem to mind it either. I understand power usage is only cents per month. I have a light switch mounted in the circuit so it can be shut-off as desired.

The other home with the motion sensor is a pain. The wind trips it on frequently. I also have a lightswitch on this one. In really windy conditions, I'm forced to turn it off to get some sleep. The light seems harsh with a normal bulb but it lasts for a long time also but not as long as the sodium. With such a narrow band of light coverage you always get a feeling that someone is in the lurches after it has gone on.

Homeland security is important in rural areas. As back-up security I use a S&W .357 Magnum with 8 3/8 barrel(so you can hit what you aim at)at ranges up to 50 yards or less. I use a Colt AR-15 for long range security back-up.

For my CCW, I use a Sig 229 (.40 S&W) with Laser-Max projecting laser sight that is mounted in the action's spring return. I've used the laser a number of times on weirdos that appear to have devious intentions. That is the safest mode of gun control without hurting people. The red dot instills some inner feelings that causes them to run. They've never come back with a complaint.

With the great Hydro Pulling Power debate going on; I figured this might be a good background piece for questions on the John Deere 4000 Ten Series ehydro systems. It is John Deere sales poop but their is still some good info. in there for those who have not seen it or might be curious. At least in my "TOTALLY unbias'd opinion" ;o) Cheers!

I concur! As I have posted several times since purchasing my B7800 last spring, the one thing I really miss is the full control 3PH. I believe I would still opt for the B7800 over the 2710 though.

There is a guy in Northern Ontario who I heard about a while back who takes old Jeep CJ's and puts a Kubota Industrial diesel in them.

He also offers a Hydro-static driven version. The transmission is swapped for a big hydraulic pump and the transfer case is driven by a hyd. motor.

They are built strictly for the forest & mining industry.
